~DEATH OF THE MAD HATTER~
So without further ado, sit back and enjoy our guest, Sarah J. Pepper!
MBA&M: Welcome! Please tell our readers a little about yourself?
SARAH: I specialize in dark, paranormal romance – think “happy ever after” but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn’t only filled with hugs, kisses, bunnies, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It’s in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of – both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn’t always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn’t mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit?
MBA&M: What called you to write romance and love for readers?
SARAH: Honestly, I should never had become and author. I’m a terrible speller and my grammar is worse than par. (Thank goodness for editors!!!) My idea of writing didn’t start until a dear friend forced me to watch Twilight with her. Sparkling vamps? Give me a break. But I humored her, thinking that any night I had an excuse to shove popcorn down my throat was a good night. Within three days following the movie I finished the first two books. Soon after I found a few different authors specializing in the sci-fi/fantasy realm and read their works. Days turned into months about as quickly as I turned each page in the books I finished. Soon I had a dilemma. My favorite authors weren’t coming out with their newest works for another several months. It was cold and dark outside. A light bulb went off in my head…
MBA&M: Who was your greatest influencer in writing?
SARAH: Would it be totally lame if i said my husband?? I married “Prince Charming.” To say i’m head over heels in love with him would be the understatement of the century. He is my love, my muse. My dedication: To the valiant warrior who stole my delicate heart only to protect it with his own. He whispered surreal possibilities and opened my eyes to a world I dared not to imagine. My life would be comprised of dull colors and lifeless music without you, Dusty. You give me the world when I gaze into your eyes—your soul.
MBA&M: If you could visit one person, in the world, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
SARAH: ummmm… gosh darn, i don’t know if i could pick just one person! ONE?!?! Ugh, i’m much more of a social butterfly than that! Hmmm, I’d have to say President Lincoln. Why you may ask? Because he totally better-ed himself and thousands alike. He came from nothing in the backwoods of our country and then got it together to run the joint. He made a greater impact to the world than he probably ever knew…. plus, he knew how to kill a vampire 🙂 #vampirehunter
MBA&M: Now, pertaining to your title: DEATH OF THE MAD HATTER, Tell our readers some of the challenges in writing this story?
SARAH: I’m bat-crazy scared of the original story Alice in Wonderland. I had to watch Tim Burtons movie with the lights on. Lame I know (esp since I like dark novels now) but when I was read the story as a child I freaked out when she ate the food and kept Growing and growing. As a food lover and secret chocolate addict, the thought of growing so big id tower over everyone else was terrifying!
MBA&M: Which character in DEATH OF THE MAD HATTER,do you most identify with and why?
SARAH: The white rabbit… because usually i’m running (hopping) all over the place, and i’d lose my head if it weren’t attached.
MBA&M: If you could change the world what would you change, how would you change it?
SARAH: This is my secret goal. To change the world. When i was little i thought i’d change the world by curing cancer or discovering something important. (Yeah, i set my goals high) Jump forward a few years, I realized that i hate chemistry and physics and would probably make a terrible scientist… so curing a disease was out of the equation. Discovering something– good thing i didn’t make that goal vage, huh. Everything had already been discovered. So, i decided to put on my working cap and join the health field work force… How, you may ask, did i get into writing then? Well, i sort of stumbled onto it. We had a horrible winter (SD born and raised) and I didn’t want to scoop the driveway. Stop judging me! The freaking snow banks were taller than me. Cue the light blulb that went off in my head.
MBA&M: What is your favorite aspect of being an author?
SARAH: I have a very demanding imagination. Writing lets me escape into a world that is limited only by what I can think up.
MBA&M: What is something that scares the “Heck” out of you and why?
SARAH: Other than growing to absurd heights, revealing my inability to say no to cupcakes? Then I’d have to say eight legged critters. Heeby jeebies!
MBA&M: Who is your real-life hero,why?
SARAH: My grandma “grams”
Ummm, because she is a secret badass!
MBA&M: What is your life’s passion, besides writing of course?
SARAH: Depends on the day. Sometimes its making it out of bed before Mickey Dees stops selling breakfast. Other Times its to make sure I’ve chronicled my life via scrapbooking. And don’t forget my passion for outdoor sports. I’m big into snowboarding, biking, rollerblading, kayaking, and of course paying people to throw paint on me while I run.
MBA&M: What are some of your comfort foods, and what do you listen to while writing if anything?
SARAH: Coffee–original, I know. But I’ll swallow my high blood pressure pills with my coffee if I have to. Guilty pleasure
MBA&M: Have you always wanted to write the genre?
SARAH: Paranormal and all things fantasy have a special place in my heart. To write anything other than that is next to impossible
MBA&M: What author would you say influenced your writing career the most?
SARAH: Jennifer Loren. She’s a very talented writer who befriended me when I was a nobody. She is one of those people who is a true friend even if have never seen her face to face.
MBA&M: Last but not least, please tell our readers where they may connect with you if they wish and where to purchase DEATH OF THE MAD HATTER?
