MBA&M:  Which part was the least enjoyable?

A: My readers know how I feel about children and animals. And, as a mother, it was so hard for me to write from Amanda’s perspective as she watched her critically ill baby struggle for his life.

 

MBA&M:  How did you come up with the character, Amanda Gleason?

A: It’s really hard to be a young woman in today’s world.  Meeting the right person, pursuing a career, starting a family.  Amanda embodies the hopes and fears of all women as they struggle against life’s seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

 

MBA&M:  If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in the book?

A: Not right now. But I’m my own worst critic, so as time goes on, I’m sure I’ll find things that bother me. Of course hindsight is always 20/20.

 

MBA&M: How much, and what kinds of research went into creating this novel?

A: There was an extensive amount of medical research done into SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency).  I was fortunate to work with Dr. Morton Cowan, one of the pre-eminent experts in this specialized field. And, as always, I consulted heavily with the FBI, as well as other law enforcement. You’ll have to read the book to find out why!  FYI, for more information on SCID, the current state of research, screening, and ways that you can help, visit www.scid.net. 

 

MBA&M:  Are you working on anything else at the moment, and if so can you tell us?

A: I’m working on the next novel in my Forensic Instincts series.  Don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I can tell you that something from their past threatens the FI team.  Stay tuned for more…
