DIANE: Thank you so much for hosting me.  I really appreciate this awesome opportunity!

MBA&M: Tell our readers a few tidbits about Diane Escalera?

DIANE: Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, I relocated toSouth Florida, a sultry paradise I instantly fell in love with.  I’m married, have two children and a super cute Dachshund I can’t get enough of.  I write hot contemporary romance, and I’m published with Kensington Publishing and Lyrical Press.   

MBA&M: What if anything made you decide to write this genre?

DIANE: I love Contemporary Romance.  It’s what I read and write.  Of course, it has to be sexy.  Okay, hot!  I like to write about things that occur in real life, problems that readers can relate to.  Sometimes bad things happen to good people, and I try not to shy away from the darker side even if it might be unpopular.        

MBA&M: What are some of the challenges in writing a Hot Contemporary Romance?

DIANE: Probably the greatest challenge is coming up with fresh ideas.  But that’s where imagination comes in.  For instance, my last book, Dangerous Desire, featured a dogfighting plot, which has never been done in a romance.  In my new release, Still Hot for You, the hero and heroine are already married.  It’s about what happens after the happily ever.  I try to find a unique twist to keep things interesting, but at the same time, the story still has to be sexy.  And romantic!

MBA&M: If you could be any of the characters in “Still Hot for You“, who would it be and why?

DIANE: The heroine, of course!  She gets to be married to a gorgeous man with a long list of attributes, and yet he believes that she is the prize in the relationship.

MBA&M: What are some of your favorite genre to read?

DIANE: I really like romantic suspense.  Dangerous Desire has a strong element of suspense, and it’s one of the things I enjoyed most when I wrote the story.

MBA&M: Who would you contribute your love for writing to and why?

DIANE: Unlike most authors, I didn’t know I was destined to write.  In fact, I worked in banking for several years, but deep down knew that it wasn’t my dream job.  At the young age of thirty-five, my sister died of an illness.  I realized the same thing could happen to me.  There are no guarantees.  I couldn’t waste another moment doing something I didn’t love.  Writing was one of my greatest joys when I was growing up.  I decided to enroll in an intensive course where I learned everything I could about the craft.  It didn’t take long before I left the bank to pursue a writing career.

MBA&M: What 3 top reads do you feel influenced your writing style?

DIANE: It’s hard to zero in on a particular book, but my go-to authors are Linda Howard, Lori Foster and Jill Shalvis.  I devour their books!
