Good morning Tracey and welcome to My Book Addiction and More!
MBA&M: Tell our readers a few tidbits about Tracey Devlyn?
Tracey: Thank you so much for having me. I look forward to chatting with everyone. As for tidbits about me…I love animals. Right now, I have a 1.5-year-old Doberman rescue pup and a small pond full of Koi and other pretty fish. I’m a nature nut. Love to hike around our local, state, and national parks. So many beautiful places to visit. Hmm, what else? Oh, I don’t go anywhere without a tube of lip balm and a couple tissues. I’ve also saved petals from every rose my husband has ever given me.
MBA&M: What was the most challenging thing in writing “A LADY’S REVENGE”?
Tracey: Being at peace with writing outside the norm. I tried to write around the opening scene of A Lady’s Revenge several times, because I was afraid historical romance readers would be turned off by its gritty nature. However, the story’s suspenseful plot and she-won’t-go-there uniqueness seems to be drawing readers, rather than repelling them.
MBA&M: Where did the idea of “A LADY’S REVENGE” originate?
Tracey: The story originated from what I call a flash scene, which is nothing more than a glimpse of a woman strapped to a blood-encrusted table in what was obviously a dungeon. From there, A Lady’s Revenge was born.
MBA&M: What is on the horizon for you and your writing?
Tracey: At the end of February, I finished the second book in the Nexus series. Checkmate, My Lord will hit the shelves and e-readers February 2013. Once I finish promoting A Lady’s Revenge, I’ll start on the third book. Really excited about diving into a new story!
MBA&M: What is some comfort foods for you?
Tracey: My comfort foods tend to vary. I’ll find something I like and eat it until I’m sick of it. I do have a few items that I keep going back to, though. I love my husband’s spaghetti (or pasta, if you prefer). Slim Jim’s at snack time, strawberry Twizzlers while watching movies, Twix candy bars for my at-work sweet tooth, four-pump vanilla lattes to get my through the morning, and soda pop. Oh, and sometimes I get a hankering for a lemon.
MBA&M: What is in your “To Read” pile?
Tracey: Honestly, too many to list. Although I don’t read as much as I used to, I still buy books like I haven’t slowed down. Recent books I’ve purchased and haven’t read—How to Ravish a Rake by Vicky Dreiling, Miss Hilary Schools a Scoundrel by Samantha Grace, A Week to be Wicked by Tessa Dare, and The Rogue Pirate’s Bride by Shana Galen.
MBA&M: Which character in “A LADY’S REVENGE” do you think most identifies with you and your character? Why?
Tracey: I would like to think there’s a little of me in my heroine, Cora, and her lady’s maid, Dinks. But only a smidge. Both ladies are far more courageous and intelligent than I’ll ever be. I do wish I could bundle them up and carry them with me wherever I go.
MBA&M: Who is your hero/heroine be it person, animal, or character? Why?
Tracey: My husband is my hero, hands down. He loves and supports me despite my many flaws. He’s my biggest fan and my voice of reason. Quite simply, he’s my rock. Without his love, I would never have become the woman I am today. I always want to be a better person when I’m around him. And I adore his mother, too.
