MBA&M: What made you decide to write historical romance?
VD: I bought my first romance accidentally. Seriously, I didn’t know it was a romance until I got home and read the back cover. I’d never read a romance before and was a bit wary. But then I started reading Judith McNaught’s ALMOST HEAVEN and found myself completely captivated. Of course, I went to the bookstore to purchase all of her books I could find. Since that time, I’ve read other romance subgenres, but historical romance remains my favorite. So that’s why I write it.
MBA&M: What are the challenges in writing a historical romance series?
VD: My books are trilogies, rather than series. When readers found out that my first trilogy did not have a series name, they gave it one! My trilogy became known as the fan-named “How to” series. J The main difference for readers is that each of my books is a standalone. All three books can be read in any order. I think this is helpful to readers who are just discovering newer authors like me. Interestingly, several readers have told me that they read the first two books again, back-to-back, and said that there was a slightly richer experience for them. But again, all three books can be read in any order.
MBA&M: What is on the horizon for you?
VD: I’m writing a new trilogy for my publisher set in Regency England (it’s my favorite!). I will also be publishing a digital prequel to the new trilogy that is tentatively scheduled for fall 2012. One of the minor characters from HOW TO RAVISH A RAKE is the hero in my next book. I’m very excited about the new story. Other than that, I’ve got several appearances this year at conferences as well as speaking engagements. So 2012 is shaping up to be a very busy year for me. Karen C- Oh, yes, I celebrate each release. With Ravish, I went out to dinner with family & had lunch with my author friends. Having a book release is the coolest thing ever!
I've always loved stories that feature the rake and the wallflower, so How to Ravish a Rake sounds like my kind of story. I'm looking forward to reading it.

What a hoot that you set of the alarm at Windsor! I am rolling here! What did they do? HEHE!
I love the cover! It's just as beautiful as the other two "How to's". I'm anxious to read about Amy and Will. It sure sounds like their romance is going to be a good one!

I always wonder about that . Love your books Vicky and I love this book title.
How cute, your readers named your series. I like how you write your trilologies, related but not necessary to read in order. Though I am a stickler and can't bring myself to read books out of order, ah just can't!
I like the sound of Amy and Will, thanks for the chance to win a copy.
