So without further ado, WELCOME L. MARIE!!

MBA&M: Welcome! Please tell our readers a little about yourself?

L. Marie: Well, I’m a left-handed Gemini…born near the Detroit River during the Summer of Love. Those are the broad strokes, but really, I’m a storyteller, and a 20+ year TV veteran, who has lived all over North and South America for work. I’m also a passionate and talented reader…who happens to be a writer. Why am I talking about myself in the third person?
MBA&M: What called you to write romance and love for readers to enjoy?

L. Marie: Well I am a fan of romance and erotica, and when I was younger I used to eat those book like candy. The great success of Fifty Shades of Grey seemed to have reignited a passionate fan base, and I wanted to reach them with something new, something a little different, that was a combination of both real erotica AND a romance. Plus I added the touch of the fantastical with a group, S.E.C.R.E.T., that grants real women their sexual fantasies. Mostly, as a writer of both literary novels and best-selling business book, I just wanted to have as much fun writing as I was having as a reader…you know?
MBA&M: Who was your greatest influencer in writing?

L. Marie: Well, as a reader, I’m a big fan of the Big Three, as I call them, E.L. James, Maya Banks, and Sylvia Day’s books. Actually, Ms. Day’s my fave…she’s got the writing chops AND her sex scenes are absolutely bloody scorching! I also love reading biographies of famous people especially about old school Hollywood stars like Natalie Wood, Vivien Leigh, and Rita Hayworth. But as a writer, I live by Ann Lamott’s Bird by Bird, probably the most influential writing tool I’ve ever read, along with Stephen King’s On Writing, which doubles as an exceptional autobiography of an exceptional man.
MBA&M: If you could visit one person, in the world, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
L. Marie: I would like to go on tour with Beyonce, just for one stop, to watch the set-up, rehearsals, and the show start to finish. And maybe to hang out in her dressing room for a bit, but not like a stalker or anything 🙂 I’m a big fan, and I am always inspired by really, really hard-working women doing their thing. But one of my favorite fictional heroines is Scarlett O’Hara, who is often written off as a spoiled self-centered Southern Belle. But it’s her ruthless pragmatism that intrigues me. She’s someone I’d have liked to have known for real.  Especially during hard times. She’s a survivor  (my favorite Beyonce song!)

MBA&M: Now, pertaining to your title: S.E.C.R.E.T.: SHARED.  Tell our readers some of the challenges in writing this story?
L. Marie: I think S.E.C.R.E.T. Shared is a sexier, stronger, more confident book than the first in the trilogy, because I felt like I was becoming a stronger and more confident writer of erotica. Sex is subjective; everyone has an opinion on what makes it good, hot, and real. And when you commit to writing erotica you’re putting your version of good, hot, and real sex out there. And you’re inviting scrutiny and opinion. That’s the biggest challenge. Taking up the mantle, going forward, and sticking to what’s right and true for my characters is the only way through those challenges. And reminding myself to have fun!
MBA&M: Which character in the S.E.C.R.E.T. series do you most identify with and why?
L. Marie: Well, I love Cassie, of course, because she’s the one who first emerged from the creative fog of my mind and introduced herself to me. But as I go along, I’m increasingly attracted to Matilda and her philosophies and theories. I wish I could be more like her; she’s mature, wise, open-hearted, magnanimous. She doesn’t have a jealous bone in her body and is ageing not only gracefully but happily. It doesn’t seem to have dampened her desire, and that in turn continues to make her desirous. What women wouldn’t want to be able to pull that off?
MBA&M: What is your favorite aspect of being an author?

L. Marie: I love the autonomy. I love the idea that stored up in the ether above my head are more stories, and if I sit still long enough, I can access them. I love that these stories always surprise me. It’s such a mystery, what works, what resonates, but the act of putting the right words down on paper can (sometimes) feel so satisfying, it almost doesn’t matter who reads it. Almost!
MBA&M: What is something that scares the “Heck” out of you and why?
L. Marie: Public speaking; the whole publicity side of writing can be unnerving. You operate in this little insulated bubble broken only by the odd phone call (no one calls anymore) and someone delivering a package. You can go for days wearing only pajamas (two is my record, I swear). Then bam, the book comes out and you’re blinking into the sun, having to face people all of a sudden. It takes some getting used to. I’m prepping now. But meeting readers, talking about books, not just my own, that’s something I look forward to.
MBA&M: What is your life’s passion, besides writing  of course?
L. Marie: Believe it or not, at the tender age of 45, I took up standup paddle boarding. I finally bought one this year and store it down at a windsurfing club on Lake Ontario. I was on the lake almost every day this summer, even in high waves! And I miss it already. Can’t wait for next season. I never thought of myself as a jock, but the trunk of my car is now stocked with my fins, towels, life preservers, paddles, oh and rollerblades, and running shoes, so there you go. It’s never too late to find your sport(s)!
MBA&M: What are some of your comfort foods, and what do you listen to while writing if anything?

L. Marie: I used to need pure silence, but I listen to classical music and also to this station on Songza called Muted Jazz. It’s the perfect background music to drown out my mild tinnitus, which I was afflicted with this winter. When it first happened, I thought my writing life was over! You can’t write with that high pitch whine! But it lessened and now with a bit of music, it’s fine.
As for food! Popcorn. Lots of popcorn. I love snacking on that and almonds. I had to cut my caffeine intact in half, by literally cutting the coffee with half decaf. But I am a creature of habit. I eat the same thing for breakfast (oatmeal, blueberries, walnuts) and when I’m really deep into a manuscript, I eat the same thing for lunch, (tomato, cheese, lettuce, toast, or a salad with fish). I try to eat well during the day, so I can splurge a little on dinner. Plus when you sit all day, you have to be careful.
MBA&M: Have you always wanted to write erotic romances?

L. Marie: As I’ve mentioned, I was a big fan of these books when I was younger. I just never thought I’d have the courage to write erotic romances. But in a way all my books are romances, they’re just about the aftermath, after love leaves, and what can be done to bring it back. I had also always written sex scenes, but they weren’t rooted erotically, more psychologically. S.E.C.R.E.T.’s erotica is in the body, so writing the series means getting out of my critical head a little more, and moving the work into the body. It’s harder, but more satisfying than I thought it would be!
MBA&M: How many books will be in this series and what’s next?
L. Marie: There will be three books in total. I’ve already started the third, so along with Cassie’s ongoing story, as she inches towards her HEA, we’ll meet a brand new character. All I can tell you about her is that she’s formidable, the kind of women who has moved sex on the back burner of her life while taking care of her family and her career. We all know someone like that, who purports to be “fine” without sex, “fine” on her own, but inside she’s craving intimacy. She just needs a boost.
What inspired you to write a story based on these things?
L. Marie: Well, to be honest that’s the mantra I told myself when I began the series. I asked myself what I would do if I weren’t afraid, if there were no judgments, no limits, no shame. It ended up being the perfect mantra for the book itself, and S.E.C.R.E.T. in general. I think it’s one to live by, frankly.
MBA&M: Please tell our readers where they may connect with you,if they so wish, and where they may purchase S.E.C.R.E.T.S: SHARED?
L. Marie: I just started to interact on Facebook; believe it or not, I was not on before. And turns out I love interacting with S.E.C.R.E.T. readers. So go there, facebook/lmarieadeline and there’s a website too, where I write a blog now and again, . And of course Twitter for news and tidbits @lmarieadeline. That’s been fun too! S.E.C.R.E.T. Shared will be available anywhere books are sold, but Target will be carrying a whole host of them, and Barnes and Noble has been a big supporter of the books, so I like to give both of them a big shout out!
Thank you, L. Marie for spending your Saturday with us and our readers today!!

The hotly anticipated sequel to the erotic sensation S.E.C.R.E.T., where women’s sexual fantasies become reality.

Still wounded from a recent heartbreak, Cassie Robichaud throws herself into service with S.E.C.R.E.T., the mysterious organization that changed her life last year by bringing her deepest sexual fantasies to life, one step at a time.

Now, it’s Cassie’s turn to guide the group’s newest candidate, Dauphine Mason, recruiting men to execute a new set of fantasies. While it gets Cassie’s mind off Will, the man she truly loves, it also gives her the chance to help watch S.E.C.R.E.T. work its magic on someone new.

At thirty-one, Dauphine is the proprietor of a New Orleans vintage clothing store—the kind of buttoned-up career woman who has no idea how attractive she really is. In order to reignite her sexual flame and reawaken her dormant heart, she must leave behind her bitter past.

As both Cassie and Dauphine navigate the rocky path between their hearts and their passions, they discover what they truly want in life and in love. SECRET Shared is a liberating, passionate and sexually charged sequel to one of the hottest new series in erotica.
