The allure of the old west has always been the hunky cowboy.  A tall handsome rustic man atop a striking horse.  He muscles the animal controlling it like an extension of himself as he tosses a rope towards a wayward cow. To tame the west, men had to be fearless and hardworking.  It was a hard life, but romantic as well.

In my novels, most of my cowboys play the guitar.  A romantic way to spend the evenings don’t you think?  Imagine coming out of your log cabin. Your cowboy sits outside with the setting sun behind his well-formed body as he lifts the guitar and strums a tune.  His deep voice hums to a song he’s forgotten the words to. Darkened eyes meet yours across the short distance, drawing you to move closer.  The chilly breeze makes you shiver, at least that’s what you tell yourself.

As much as I have learned about life in the old west, I can’t say I would like to live back then.  Life was a bit too harsh. But I admire the people that did.

I hope you enjoy your trips to the west when you read my books.  Whether its Four Winds, Texas or the Mirasol Ranch, the stories of how these people endured and overcame are sure to catch you. Love definitely conquers the west!  It will be a visit you won’t soon forget.
