~Good evening Cynthia and welcome to My Book Addiction and More today~

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about Cynthia Cooke?

I’m a California native who has been transplanted in the south. After eight years, I’m still trying to adjust to the four seasons – pollen season, hide-in-the-house or be eaten alive season, who has the most mums season, and it’s cold enough to snow so where is the pretty stuff season. All in all, I do love it. The beaches are top-notch and you can actually swim in the water without risking hypothermia. My husband and I have 3 teens who will soon be leaving the nest. It’s wonderful to see them fly and terrifying because I’m not going to be there to catch them. I also have two rat terriers and the most demanding cat on the planet.

MBA&M: What if anything made you decide to write “Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies”?

I loved that show Heroes, and I thought it would be really fun to write a book about Government agents that had special ‘abilities’.  It took off from there. I have three really strong women with special talents and the trouble those abilities cause themselves and the men in their lives.

MBA&M: What where the challenges in writing this title?

There are a lot of action type set pieces in this story. Several different types of boats, a helicopter, guns, explosive devices, even self-inflating rafts. All those things had to be researched for accuracy. How they work, what they look like, etc. For instance, I missed that Glocks don’t have a safety. Luckily my fabulous editor caught that. There are so many little details like that a writer has to be aware of or it can pull the reader right out of the story. Something we never want to happen.

MBA&M: Which character do you feel you identify with the most and why?

Genie, of course. It’s her story. I was in her head, or she was in mine, the most! 😉 Genie is a lot of fun—adventurous, courageous, fearless! She’s committed to her family and will do anything for them. I admire her a lot.

MBA&M: What is some of your “comfort” foods?

I’m Italian so I love Spaghetti. It’s my number one comfort food I go to every time.

MBA&M: Who would you say most influenced your writing career and why?

Romance Writers of America. I joined the Kiss of Death Chapter and went on some amazing tours over the years. Getting to see and talk to people who spend their lives fighting crime and protecting American citizens has been a real inspiration to me. These are truly special people, and characters I love to portray in my stories.

MBA&M: Have you always wanted to be an author?

No, I wanted to be an accountant. I work in corporate accounting for ten years, and still do all the accounting work for the company my husband and I own. And I must confess to still using spreadsheets when I plot my books.

MBA&M: If you where not writing, what would your chosen career?

Law Enforcement and investigations. Luckily, I can now write about them.

MBA&M: What genre is your favorite to read for pleasure?

I read all kinds of books. I love Thrillers and Suspense, Horror novels, Paranormal romances, and Young Adults.

MBA&M: What is in your “To Be Read” pile?

All of the above. Like most writes I have hundreds of books waiting to be read.  I just finished CJ Lyons Shadow Ops series and highly recommend it!

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a little about “Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies” and where to find you and where it is available?

Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies was the first book released in Entangled Publishing’s new Dead Sexy Romantic Suspense line. It’s an action adventure book a lot like Alias or Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Lot of sexy fun! DSLL is full of action and excitement! Lots of sisterly drama, and, of course, lots of romance.

It’s about an ex-agent on the run from a terrorist and finds the only person who can save her family is the one man whose heart she betrayed. And the big question is — will he forgive her? Of course, he will. It’s a romance, but how he gets there is all the fun!

Here’s a small excerpt to give you a hint:

Kyle stared in disbelief at the odd, mushroom-shaped structure rising up from the cracked, dry earth of the Nevada desert.

“There she is,” the voice of Johnny Garino, his crew chief and closest friend, buzzed in his earpiece.

Genie stood on the roof of the strange house. Three black SUVs were corralled on the ground far below her. She looked incredible, breathtaking, silhouetted against the brilliant blue sky. Kyle sucked in a breath as she clipped a cable to her belt.

“She’s getting ready to fly!” Johnny called out, his voice rising in pitch.

“Hold on, baby. I’m almost there.” Kyle pushed down on the throttle urging the bird faster, even as he willed Genie to turn and see him, to hold on until he could sweep her away from the danger. And once he did, once he had her safe and secure in his cockpit, then what?

Then he’d try not to kill her himself.

Cynthia, do you have anything else to add today?
