Good morning, Elisabeth and welcome to My Book Addiction and More!

Elisabeth: Thanks so much. I’m very glad to be here!

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about yourself?

Elisabeth: I’m a married mom of three, and am an avid baker, reader and orchid grower. I love all kinds of music, especially jazz, and enjoy singing in classical choruses. I spend a lot of time at cafés and bookstores, but the majority of my free time is spent with my family, which is just the way I like it.

MBA&M: Tell us a little about Deep Autumn Heat?

Elisabeth: The book is set in the town of Star Harbor, on Cape Cod, and is the story of two stubborn chefs who find that despite their very different personalities, they can’t resist each other. Lexie Meyers wants to open a catering business as an extension of her already-successful restaurant, but Sebastian Grayson, a famous New York City chef and former local bad boy, is back in town and has Lexie in his sights. When he steps foot into the Lexie Meyers Kitchen and takes one bite of Lexie’s delectable coconut cake, he immediately gets hooked—on her. But Lexie isn’t about to fall for Seb’s charms (at least not that easily), and sparks fly in more than just the kitchen when the two of them clash.

MBA&M: If Deep Autumn Heat became a movie, who would you cast as Sebastian and Lexie? Why?

Elisabeth: Wow! I had actually not thought about this question before. I don’t use visuals when I write, so I had no specific visual of the “perfect” person for either character. Someone super intense for Sebastian, with tons of charm. I feel like Christian Bale has the requisite hubris to pull it off. And for Lexie, maybe someone warm, but with a backbone of steel. Ginnifer Goodwin? Or Mandy Moore? Perhaps readers in the comment section can help me with the casting?

MBA&M:  What do you feel was the biggest challenge in writing Deep Autumn Heat?

Elisabeth: Showcasing Sebastian’s arrogance and charm. I wanted him to be a character whom readers might not root for (or Lexie might not fall for) at first, but for him to be a man readers (and Lexie!) would definitely grow to love over time.

MBA&M: What is the one thing your heroine would never be caught dead doing/saying?

Elisabeth: Lexie works obscenely hard, and is constantly on the go. You would never find her just lazing around.

MBA&M: Tell us one quirky thing about your hero?

Elisabeth: Sebastian is a professional chef and is used to preparing (and eating) the finest food. But when he’s home at night, or when he goes out, he likes to eat simply. He also likes NY style pizza, and eats it whenever he can.

MBA&M: And about your heroine?

Elisabeth: Lexie is also a professional chef, so I’ll give you something food related: she doesn’t drink coffee.

MBA&M: Want to tell us something quirky and food-related about yourself?

Elisabeth: I’ll tell you a few things. I am obsessed with really dark chocolate and eat some every day. I like cooking, but I adore baking. If it didn’t make my teeth hurt so much, I’d eat whole lemons.

MBA&M: What you think readers will like best about this book:

Elisabeth: I hope that readers will connect with Seb and Lexie, as well as with the New England setting. I loved writing about Star Harbor, and wanted to show the town in all its autumnal beauty. There are a few secondary characters I absolutely adore, and I hope that readers will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

MBA&M: Where can readers pick up a copy of Deep Autumn Heat?

Elisabeth: It comes out on July 9th, but you can pre-order a copy anywhere e-books are sold. Here are the links: Kindle | Nook | ITunes | Other Formats

MBA&M: Now, Elisabeth, please tell our readers what is in your future as a writer?

Elisabeth: More Grayson brothers adventures! The next book in the Star Harbor series, Blaze of Winter, comes out in September and features Theo (Seb’s twin). After that, there are two more Star Harbor books on the horizon that feature the other two Grayson brothers and that are most likely to be released in 2013. If you’re interested in finding out more about me and about the Star Harbor books, please visit my website at I’m also on Facebook and Twitter.

MBA&M: Thank you for spending your day with us and our readers at My Book Addiction and More!

Elisabeth: Thank you for having me! It’s been wonderful to be here!

  1. Congrats on the new release. Thanks for the great interview. I would cast Katherine Heigl and Manu Bennett. This book sounds fantastic. Can't wait to read it to see more of Lexie and Seb.

  2. Hi Elizabeth, Just wanted to say hello, and we are so excited about you release date!!!

  3. Since I haven't read the book yet, I'm just guessing, but how about maybe Gerard Butler and Cobie Smulders.
