REGENCY ROMANCE AUTHOR: ERIN KNIGHTLEY!
Good morning, Erin, and welcome to My Book Addiction and More!
Thanks so much for inviting me! It’s a pleasure to join you today
MBA&M: Please give our readers some insight into Erin Knightley?I’m a true romance lover, having picked up my first one in high school some fifteen years ago. I love nothing more than sigh-worthy happy endings – especially when the hero and heroine have to really work for it! I’m a night owl, and just as I used to read into the wee hours of the morning, I now write that way. There are so few distractions and interruptions at two in the morning, lol!
MBA&M: What inspired you to write this genre and the “Sealed With a Kiss“series?
I started off with contemporary romance, then found old westerns, but it wasn’t until I picked up a Regency set romance that I found my true love. I’ve been reading them for a decade, and when it came to sitting down to write my own book, there was never any question as to when it would be set: Regency England. The gowns, jewels, the titled men—what’s not to love?
MBA&M: How many books will be in the “Sealed With a Kiss” series?
I’m not entirely certain! I know for sure there will be three novels and one e-novella, but beyond that, we shall see. I still have two more siblings in the family to write about…
MBA&M: How let’s talk about some of the secondary or minor characters in “More Than a Stranger”,please tell our readers who your favorite is and why? And who would you like to see have their own story?Why?
From the moment my heroine’s brother showed up, I fell in love with him. Richard is funny, handsome as hell (Paul Walker comes to mind), and completely incorrigible. After writing a few scenes with him, there I knew he would be my next hero. The greatest challenge was dialing him back so that he didn’t steal the show!
MBA&M: What are some interesting facts you learned while writing or doing research on this series?
Oh, good question! Let’s see – I learned that there was no such word as “hallway” at that time! I also had to do some research into foxhunting, since I had no clue how it worked. After searching online, it belatedly occurred to me that my sister-in-law actually participates in modern-day foxhunts! She was lovely enough to tell me about how exhilarating the hunt could be. Oh, and I really enjoyed investigating what books would have been around at the time.
MBA&M: Which character do you most indentify with and why?
Hands down, I totally relate to Evie. She has a lot of me in her, but also a lot of what I wish I could be if I ever thought of snappy comebacks or clever rejoinders. I’m one of those people who will think of the perfect comeback – two days later! But I really related to her relationships with her siblings, her desire to be able to pursue her dreams (hello – writing!), and her need to take control of her own destiny.
MBA&M: Can you tell our readers a scene out of “More Than a Stranger” that stands out to you?Oh yes – the scene in the garden at night was absolutely my favorite. I could feel the cool night air, see the stars, hear them speaking – more than anything that scene was when they really came alive to me. It was also the scene that my brother chose when he was looking for inspiration for the original piano piece he composed as a companion to the novel (which is a free download at my website). MBA&M: What is next in the “Sealed With a Kiss” series?
Book 2, A TASTE FOR SCANDAL, is Richard’s story and comes out in December, but we also snuck a little Sealed With a Kiss Christmas novella into the mix. MISS MISTLETOE will be out in early November, and begins at Evie and Benedict’s wedding!
MBA&M: What is the first book you remember writing? What genre do you enjoy reading? and Do you get lost in a book while reading it?My first official book was actually MORE THAN A STRANGER, but I did win a Young Author’s competition in fourth grade with a short story I wrote about two siblings discovering a secret room in their basement. I’m still proud of that book! As for reading, I love romance—historicals mostly, but some contemporary—but I also enjoy YA, and some mainstream. The first author I ever adored was Clive Cussler and hiss sexy hero, Dirk Pitt. A good book, is a good book, is a good book, and when it comes down to it, it doesn’t matter what the genre is, so long as it keeps me up at night!
And yes, I totally get lost in books. My poor hubby learned years ago that if I’m reading, it will take physically shaking me to get my attention!

My star crush…..Johnny Depp. My better half calls him my eye candy.
I fell in love with my DH way before I ever met him face to face. We met online in a Pogo chat and what started out as an online friendship became something more. He was stationed at Ft. Drum and when it came time for him to take his leave (6 months after we started talking), he came to see me. We were one of the lucky ones in that we were honest with each other about who we were, what we wanted in life, etc. so when we did meet, it was like hugging someone I had known forever. We confirmed what we had with each other and continued seeing each other twice a year for 15 days for two more years until he got out of the army. We've been together for 9 years now and I couldn't ask for a better man to have swept me off my feet. Yep, knights in shining armor truly do exist!
I can certainly say I've had lots of crushes, but I haven't actually fallen in love with anyone I haven't met. Falling in love takes a little more for me than a crush does. I'd say my big star crush is Tom Selleck.
Congratulations on the book. No, I can safely say that I've never fallen in love with someone I haven't met. Even with celebrities, you only see one side of them. So in private they may be quite different.
