DEIRDRE: I was born Deirdre Marie Capone granddaughter of Ralph J. Capone (Public enemy #3) older brother and business partner of Alphonse (Al) Capone (Public enemy #1) in Chicago

DEIRDRE: I knew what my family told me because my Uncle Matty was there, but I needed proof from an outside source. There are two books recently published that back up my story, ‘Get Capone” by Jonathan Eig and “Alcatraz – The Gangster Years) by Dr. David Ward.

DEIRDRE: Reading.

DEIRDRE: For all the dissension, for all the pain, there comes a moment in our lives where we have to stand up and say, “This—the good and the bad—is who I am.” For Deirdre Marie Capone there came a time to confess to her children, grandchildren and even herself that, yes, they were members of the storied Capone crime family.
