WELCOME,DEBBIE,TO MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE TODAY…
MBA: What made you decide to write “Kiss of Night”if there was a reason?
In high school I read Dracula and loved it. It really is a groundbreaking book in so many ways. In college I began to read a lot more vampire fiction and I quickly became frustrated that there were no solid Christian characters represented in that fiction. Really, there’s a lack of Christian characters in most horror novels and films. It puzzled me because I had read and loved everything Frank Peretti wrote, particularly This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness which dealt with angels and demons and had its fair share of horror. The Bible is filled with tales of miracles, angels and demons and the supernatural in a real and present way and I wondered why there wasn’t more Christian fiction that represented fantasy or horror. Worse, when Christian characters were depicted it was usually in a derogatory way such as people who had lost
their faith. I decided I wanted to write a Christian vampire novel. It took years to make this series a reality, but it was worth it.
MBA: Tell our readers a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in California and have lived in Hawaii and Florida. I write both secular and Christian fiction and was encouraged to write by my parents and teachers from a young age. I’m married
to a fantastic man, Scott, and we have a wonderful cat named Schrödinger. I love Disney parks, travel, and horseback riding.
MBA: How do you feel about e-books vs prints?
I personally prefer to read print books because I spend the vast majority of my day staring at a computer screen. However, I love the e-book revolution because it has brought greater accessibility and expanded the libraries of consumers without them having to expand their houses.
MBA: If you could change anything in this world what would it be and why?
I would have the United States remember that it is a nation under God. It devastates me that simple acts of faith that our grandparents took for granted are becoming illegal for us today.
MBA: What advise do you give any aspiring authors?
Three things – 1. Write a complete book and when you’re done write a second and a third. The more you
write the better you get. 2. Learn to have a thick skin when it comes to rejection and criticism. Embrace every
rejection letter as a stepping stone to an acceptance letter. 3. Network by attending writers’ conferences where you have a chance to meet professionals in the industry and get to know writers, editors, and agents. It’s a great way to get a foot in the door.
MBA: What do you hope your readers will come away with by reading “Kiss of Night”?
The Kiss trilogy is at its core a redemption story that I hope people can connect with. Honestly, though, I want them to walk away feeling like they’ve been entertained and uplifted all at the same time. I want them to laugh, cry, shudder, and cheer while they’re reading.
MBA: What is on the horizon for you, if you can, give our readers a few tidbits about your future projects?
Besides the next two books in this series I have many other books coming out in the next few years. I am continuing my Psalm 23 Mysteries series and also am working on several YA fantasy projects.
Hope some or all of these will work if not feel free to let us know.We are again looking forward to this grand adventure.

Centuries ago, Raphael was a blasphemous knight who fought in the Crusades purely for his own mercenary benefit, and to satisfy his taste for killing. Now, condemned for his evil passions and hypocrisy, he wanders the earth a vampire, cursed with first-hand knowledge of the supernatural world he once denied existed. The powerful relic he still possesses from his days as a Crusader has been stolen by a rival vampire who has recruited an army of soulless underlings to aid him in spreading evil. At the time he learns this, Raphael has been hunting this vampire for nearly a century, and it seems the final battle is destined to take place in Prague.
For help in this quest, Raphael must enlist the aid of two humans, David and Susan, who suddenly find themselves immersed in a world they never imagined, entangled with supernatural forces they can’t control. Susan, in particular, finds herself conflicted as she struggles with her inexplicable attraction to Raphael. In the end, both Susan and Raphael will be called upon to exercise courage and faith, and in the process, the question What would happen if a vampire truly accepted God? is answered.
