Die For Me

My Addiction is…

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to be back at My Book Addiction and More. It’s always a pleasure to visit. 😉

For this post, I thought I’d take inspiration from the blog itself—and I’d talk about addictions. We all have them. Some are pretty harmless (like my addiction to watching the gorgeous Jensen Ackles on Supernatural). Some addictions can turn out to be pricey (like my addiction to chocolate—sigh). Come on, tell me that I’m not alone with these addictions!

When it comes to books, I find that I have certain “character” addictions.  I love to read (and write) about strong, sexy alpha heroes. My heroes can be supernatural beings like werewolves or vampire, or they can be fierce military men or law enforcement personnel.  These take-charge and get-the-job done types always lure me into the books.

As for heroines, please give me a woman who is smart, capable, and able to kick some butt. Sure, some weakness is fine—we all have some weakness—but I never enjoy reading about a doormat heroine.  I’m all for a woman who can stand on her own two feet.  Strong heroes always need equally strong heroines.

I also have plot addictions. Yes, I just confessed to that.  When I read for pleasure, I have certain plots that just make me giddy. (Uh, huh, giddy.) Re-united lovers are always at the top of my list.  I’m always rooting for those lovers to have a happy ending. I also like woman-in-jeopardy stories. What can I say?  There’s usually a really wicked bad guy in those books, and I do enjoy a scary villain. My latest release, DIE FOR ME, features one of those scary villains.  What can I say?  I think maybe I’ve got a bit of a dark side.

**If you’ll share you book addictions with me, you can be entered in the giveaway to win a $15 or B& gift certificate.**

Come on—let’s all get addicted together.

  1. What a special surprise! We are all guilty of one addiction or another. Thanks for visiting with us today,Cynthia.

  2. I love historical romance and YA and adult paranormal. I just started reading Black Dagger Brotherhood and absolutely love it. There are so many amazing books out there.

  3. My book addiction is an protective alpha male hero preferable a navy seal who ends up having to save a kickass heroine. I don’t like a weakling for a heroine

  4. I am an avid reader & love several genre's from paranormal to romantic suspense ! I think Cynthia Eden is a wonderful author & I love her paranormals, but "Die for Me" has everything for an edge of your seat & can't put it down til you finish it kind of read like a psychotic killer,a woman who decides to quit running,a sexy detective, and it's set in New Orleans — what more could a reader ask for ! Thank you for the contest and the opportunity !

  5. I agree with your addictions. I love an alpha male, but I don't want a woman who can't think for herself. I am currently reading Calculated in Death by JD Robb, I love the relationship between Roarke and Eve! I would have to say my addiction would be books themselves, can't get enough, love them all.

  6. We share the same addiction to chocolate and Jensen Ackles! When it comes to book addictions,, I love strong men in a dangerous career, like law enforcement, military, firefighters. I'm addicted to women who can rescue themselves, but still be rescued sometimes. When it comes to plots, I'm addicted to bad guys and surviving overwhelming odds, like massive earthquakes, plane crashes, and tsunamis.

  7. I think that my main addiction is buying and reading books. I also have a hard time getting rid of them. Pretty soon they are going to have to do an episode of hoarders from my house. Just in my bedroom only. The rest of the house is fine.
I also love an alpha male character and Cynthia always has those in her stories. Love your books Cynthia and Die For Me is on my must buy list. Thanks for the chance to win.

  8. Despite a huge TBR pile, both print and digital, I can't stop buying books. Add some dark chocolate to the mix and I'm all set.

  9. What I enjoy is fiction, family sagas and historical are meaningful and my favourite novels. Best wishes and much happiness.

  10. Reading has always been my best form of entertainment and books that take place in Italy, and England during the 1940's and 1950's are unforgettable.

  11. Book addictions? Reading as often as possible. Strong alpha males matched with females that can stand up to them. Damaged heroes and the women who can heal them. Romantic suspense. Paranornal romance. There really are too many book addictions to enumerate!

  12. I read a steady diet of fiction, contemporary, historical and romance. All of which I savor.

  13. I fit in with most every person here and can't stop buying books. As for book addictions mine are: the tortured hero and the hero that takes forever to realize he loves his female. Thank you so much. I LOVE your books :).

  14. Love books! I currently have over 300, not including ebooks! I am a paranormal romance book junkie! I totally love worlds that are beyond my imagination! Some author crushes I have are JR Ward (Can't wait for Lover at Last!!!), Nalini Singh, Jeaniene Frost, Lynsay Sands, Lara Adrian, Karen Marie Moning, Kresley Cole and Rebecca Zanetti…just to name a few!!

  15. We share similar addictions, lol…there's nothing like a great hunk of chocolate =)
I have to admit I'm hopelessly addicted to reading romance. My bedroom looks like a used book store. My husband dispares. I countered by throwing some of my books at him to read. He did and loves the romantic adventure series, paranormals and the ones chucked full of humor. If you can't beat them, join them instead, lol. Thanks for the opportunity to feed my addiction with a gift card. Love your books!

  16. I agree with all your book addictions, nothings says a great books like strong male/female leads and an all around interesting plot line. I'm also in with the majority here, I can't get ever get enough books! I have a huge stack of books sitting around the room/on the shelf but I am always buying/adding more books to my TBR piles before…its like practically every week I discover a new book or author. Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. I'm addicted to romance – especially those stories with a second chance at love. I love those strong, sarcastic, alpha males and strong-willed, independent, resourceful female characters are my weakness as well.

  19. my book addictions are pretty wide. Paranormal, suspense, historical, contemporary. I'll try most things at least once. I also like the strong but sweet Alpha guys, military guys, highlanders in kilts. lol Finding something new is always a wonderful surprise. Reading something you were not sure you would like. Then you have to read more. lol

  20. Some of my book addictions are stories where the hero and heroine start out with animosity for each other. Also, I enjoy watching the hero screw up and have to beg for forgiveness.
