MBA&M: First, Victoria, for those who may not know you, please tell our readers a little
about Victoria Roberts?

VICTORIA: Thank you so much for having me today at My Book Addiction and More.

Contrary to what you might think, Victoria Roberts is my real name. I think the name sounded like a romance novelist so I had no desire to change it and write under a pen name. For those of you who don’t know me, I write Scottish historical romances about kilted heroes and warriors from the past. Home is in western PA, but my heart is in the Highlands.

MBA&M: Now, to the nitty gritty, what is your inspiration behind writing your
“Bad Boys of the Highlands” series?

VICTORIA: I pretty much took my stories back to the drawing board so to speak, wanting to display a true love story between my heroes and heroines. I’m not really a fan of insta-love. Readers will see the Highland men are strong, stubborn and proud while their women are equally determined. I focus on the struggles that each of them have in order to grow them as individuals, and then eventually build them as a couple. I think their personal troubles make the relationship that much more believable and that was an important concept for me to keep throughout the series.

MBA&M: What scene in “To Wed A Wicked Highlander” was your favorite to write and why?

VICTORIA: Without giving away spoilers, one of my favorite scenes was at the end. Poor Sybella. I do love to torture my characters. That’s pretty much all I can say on that.

MBA&M: In “To Wed A Wicked Highlander” the heroine must spy on the hero, how hard was it to write a story where the heroine is the worst of the two or is she?

VICTORIA: Sybella had a lot more internal conflict than Alexander. Alex wanted to make their marriage work whereas Ella had this secret hanging over her head the entire time. How could anyone possibly choose between their family and their husband? What a nightmare for anyone.

MBA&M: Is Alexander MacDonell related to the
MacGregor clan in your previous stories or I realize Sybella is part of the MacKenzie clan. Without giving anything away of course?

VICTORIA: Yes. Alexander MacDonell was Lady Rosalia’s cousin from Temptation in a Kilt.

MBA&M: How many books will be in “Bad Boys of the Highlands”?

VICTORIA: I’m contracted for three, but fans have been screaming for James and Colin’s story. I’m not ruling anything out.

MBA&M: What is your next project?

VICTORIA: I’m currently working on a new series for Sourcebooks called Royal Rebellion. The first in the series, My Highland Spy, will be released fall 2014.

MBA&M: How long does it take you to write a full length story, and will you be writing any novella’s?

VICTORIA: I usually take 8-10 months to write a full length story. If I try to push it any faster, my work suffers. Plus, I still work a full-time day job, have two kids in sports, etc. As far as novellas, I’m seriously thinking about it. Although, I’m not sure my readers would want novellas. I’ve already been threatened by a book club not to make James’ story into a novella because I’d be cheating them. They all wanted a full length novel to enjoy. lol

MBA&M: Last, but by no means least, please tell our readers where to find you and where to purchase
“To Wed a Highlander”?

towedwickedhighlander-FINALTo Wed a Wicked Highlander Blurb:

She always wanted to be one of the boys…

Sybella would do anything to prove she’s just as valuable to the MacKenzie clan as her brother is. She’d go on any hunt, take any dare. But her father has a different sort of mission in mind: marriage. It’s simple, he explains. All she has to do is marry Alexander MacDonell and report back on his family’s secrets. It will be easy, he says, as long as she doesn’t do anything foolish…like fall in love.

Until she got a man

As laird of the MacDonells, Alex has a duty to produce an heir. It’s a duty he won’t mind with the lovely Ella as his wife―even if she is one of the dreaded MacKenzies. He’s wooed and won many ladies, but Ella is a challenge like no other. He can tell she’s holding something back. But not for long. Because inch by inch, he plans to expose everything she’s been hiding and claim the ultimate prize: her heart.

Reviewer Top Pick

“Victoria Roberts knocked it outta the ballpark with this one!!! It is Highland romance at its best, loaded with likable characters, and an engaging plot with lots of angst and heartache that put a few tears in this reader’s eye. It was so good that I couldn’t put it down.”
