Inside the Book:

Title: Live Echoes
Author: Henry V. O’Neil
Publisher: Harper Voyager Impulse
Genre: Science Fiction
Format: Ecopy
There’s new hope for resolution of the decades-long war against the Sims: the discovery of Omega, a mysterious planet far from the fighting. Reena Mortas, the embattled leader of the human alliance, is betting everything that Omega could unlock the mystery of what’s creating the Sims.

Meanwhile, her husband and predecessor, the missing-and-believed-dead Olech Mortas, has made contact with the aliens who gave mankind the faster-than-light mode of travel known as the Step. Existing in a different realm, Olech is re-living the most important decisions of his life—while trying to explain human contradiction to a being that looks just like him, known only as Mirror.

Olech’s children, Jander and Ayliss, are still embroiled in the war. Jander has rejoined the Orphan Brigade on the mineral-rich planet Celestia, where he comes to believe what many of the Orphans feel: they’re supporting the wrong side. Ayliss, fighting in the all-female Banshees, is soon thrown into the losing war against the Sims, not knowing that every Banshee in the Human Defense Force is slated for an all-out assault on Omega that could win the war—or get them all killed.

Live Echoes is the gripping end to the Sim War series, and finally answers its central question: Where did the Sims come from, and why are they bent on humanity’s destruction?

She licked her lips, driving him crazy. That tongue was going to be all over him by the end of the night. Standing, she ran her hands down her pants like they’d gotten clammy.

He advanced on her. She backed up.

“Do you want this?”

“Yes.” The throaty quality in her voice drove his lust up another notch. “It just seems so sudden after everything we’ve been through.”

About the book…

Nalah Goes to Mad Mouse City 3Title: Nalah Goes to Mad Mouse City
Author: Anne Sawyer-Aitch
Publisher: Magic Lantern Press
Pages: 44
Genre: Children’s Picture Book
Format: Paperback

The adventures of Nalah continue! One day Nalah finds herself bored and lonesome because all of her imaginary friends have gone away on vacation. But wait – not all. Mad Tooth, the little mouse who lives in her sock drawer, is still busy munching away on her knee-highs. When she finds out why Nalah is sad, she offers to take her down through the sock drawer into a mouse metropolis. The result is a tale of wild dancing, cousins and mice, taffy and a sock monster.

“Gorgeously illustrated with a process I’ve only seen before in Anne Sawyer-Aitch’s 1st book, Nalah and the Pink Tiger. My 4-year-old particularly enjoyed the x-ray view of the stilting guard of Mad Mouse City, and was inspired to make several of her own versions of the illustration. Another fun story with a relatable young girl as protagonist and vivid fantastic characters she encounters.” – E. Bestrom, Good Reads reader

Meet the author…

Anne Sawyer-AitchAnne Sawyer-Aitch (pronounced like the letter “H”) is a puppeteer and stilt-walker. When she decided to create her first book, Nalah and the Pink Tiger, she began experimenting with different styles of illustration, and finally discovered a technique that uses her skills as a maker of color shadow puppets. She calls it “Illuminated Illustration”, and it involves cut-away designs, layering, and backlighting. In her capacity as a puppeteer, Anne creates puppet pieces of all kinds: parade floats, giant stilt puppets, and intricate color shadow shows. She is a MN State Arts Board Roster Artist, teaching puppetry all over the state, and has been touring around with her first book & her Nalah and the Pink Tiger show for the last two years. Nalah Goes to Mad Mouse City is her second book. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

MY THOUGHTS:

24073321

This is a wonderful Children’s Books. My granddaughter, Baby Girl, loved it. She wants to read more from this series. I must agree with her assessment as well. Well written, with vivid illustrations. The characters are charming, very educational as well.

****

I thought this book was great because it is very imaginative and teaches children that it is okay to have an imagination. I really like the part when Mad Mouse and Nalah went to Mad Mouse City. Overall, it is a great book and one I would recommend for age group 6+. Well written with vivid pictures, easy to follow and educational.

BOOK LAUNCH BLOG TOUR WITH AUTHOR RACHELLE J. CHRISTENSEN…

CEDAR FORT PUBLISHING AND MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE PRESENTS….

RACHELLE J. CHRISTENESEN AND HER BOOK LAUNCH BLOG TOUR!!

MEET RACHELLE J. CHRISTENSEN!!

(from the author’s website)

I was born and raised in a small farming town in Idaho and I’m a dirt between the toes, irrigation boot-wearing, ponytail flipping in the wind as I drive the 4-wheeler FARM girl all the way! I’m married to my incredible husband, Steve, and we have four wonderful kids–two girls and two boys. I graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in music. Go Aggies! I love USU–that’s where I met my husband! I enjoy so much of life–there’s so much to learn and experience. I love reading almost any genre/age group and usually read over 50 books a year from a variety of different authors. I love running, gardening, making cards with rubber stamps, crocheting, playing volleyball, singing, playing the piano, telling felt stories, and cooking. I’ve enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I loved to make up poems and write short stories.

I loved daydreaming and writing stories in my head–alway carrying on some narrative with a character when I was working in the fields. I used to wish that I could be a cat and sleep in the sun so I wouldn’t have to weed the garden. Still sounds kind of nice sometimes!

A few interesting tidbits:

I started a cleaning business after I graduated from college and with my crew, we’d clean 80 college apartments from top to the grimy bottom in 9 days. I finished my first novel–a middle-grade reader in 2001. I learned a lot from writing that book (which is tucked safely in a drawer) and it set me on a path to gain all the knowledge I could to be a successful writer. I enjoy singing and playing the piano and have composed several original songs. I co-produced a children’s CD about American Tall Tales for Story Time Felts in 2008 with 7 original songs. They’re so much fun!
