MBA&M: Good morning, Paige, welcome to My Book Addiction and More!! Please give our readers some insight into you as a person, and author?

Hi! Thank you for having me! My debut novel, a new adult romance, Written On Her Heart has just been released. I feel like I’ve been waiting forever just to say that!

Writing for me is cathartic. I’m not sure that I can live or function long without it. I get cranky when I’m writing a story and don’t have time to sit down and finish a scene. Otherwise, I’m just your average person. I’m a wife and mom to two young children, coffee and chocolate addict. I love wine and visiting new places. Fall is my favorite time of year, and the best thing in the world—other than my family—is finding that book that you just can’t put down. Better yet, reading it on the beach!

MBA&M: What was your inspiration behind writing WRITTEN ON HER HEART?

I’m not sure that I had an inspiration, per se. I connected to the main character Andi, however. She’s an aspiring author and she wants nothing more than to become a published author and achieve her dreams.

MBA&M: Why use Callaway Cove as your setting for this story?

I wanted one of those small, sleepy towns that you wish you could be a part of. And I envisioned a town on the water, one with history, where the main character was firmly rooted. Although the town is fictional, it’s based loosely of some of the small towns surrounding Lake Erie.

MBA&M: How many books will be in this series?

Three.

MBA&M: Did you have how many books would be in this series when you started writing this series?

Yes. There are three females in the books that are best friends. Andi, Rachel, and Carma. The first book is from Andi Callaway’s perspective but I always knew there would be one for each girl.

MBA&M: A tale of a budding novelist, an author and a scandal…..where did you draw your inspiration from in writing WRITTEN ON HER HEART?

I wanted a huge star to come to the town, one that would in some ways divide the friends. And so I thought, what better to have the main character a budding novelist and the star be an uber-famous author. Think Nicholas Sparks. What if it turned out all of Nicholas Spark’s novels were based on his real life? What would the media say? What would readers think? It was in that vein that I developed the plot for my book.

MBA&M: Who do you feel influenced your writing the most?

I don’t know that there’s been one person. I took a writing course some years ago that definitely influenced me and changed my life. It showed me that I could do this. Since then, I’ve worked with many editors on projects and read a ton on the craft of writing.

MBA&M: Who is your biggest hero, either real or fictional and why?

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind when I read this question is the woman who danced before her cancer surgery. It was a youtube video I saw about a year ago. My biggest hero is not just one person. It’s normal, everyday people who face adversity, huge odds, and obstacles, yet they remain strong. They laugh in the face of fear and they embrace their lives. Those people are so strong and I admire them more than anyone.

MBA&M: As a debut novelist, what are some of the struggles you have faced in getting the word out and getting your story published?

Finding a good editor is HARD. It’s also an extremely time consuming process. Something of which is a bit of a luxury in a house with two young children. In the end though, I just keep in mind that I have to do things at my own pace, to the best of my ability. If I do that, things will come, it’ll happen, and I can be proud of the results, whatever they may be.
