Praise Puzzle Of Death: Detective Mystery Thriller by Donahue B. Silvis
There is occasional cursing and sexual situations plus extreme violence. If youare adverse to those don’t read it. If you choose to read it, don’t give it a low review rating for the reasons cautioned here. You were clearly warned. Puzzle of Death has a large, interesting cast of support characters; there is a U.S. Senator an ambassador, FBI agents, Detroit mobsters, multiple torturers/killers, and Iranian secret agents. I enjoyed the story and recommendit to readers who can stand the stench of violent death. The plot is excellent, and sentence structure and character development are okay. – Vigilant ReaderWow! What a fantastic book! I could not put it down. There were so many twists and turns. It was a very different and unique book! –Musiclover, Amazon Review If you don’t mind the blood and guts, the story line was different and definitely a page turner. 5 Stars –Janet, Amazon ReviewThe “who dunnit” in “Puzzle of Death” did keep you guessing. The woman stepped behind Matey and struck her hard on the back of the head, knocking her to the ground. Matey was unconscious as the woman dragged herback to the palm trees. She patted the horse on the hindquarters, and he movedback behind the trees. The woman then lifted Matey up into a sitting position andleaned her against one of the tree trunks. She got a piece of rope from the buggy, pulled Matey’s arms behind her, tied them around the palm tree, and boundMatey’s feet together. Stepping back over to the dune buggy the woman picked upa half gallon plastic bottle of cold water and took a long drink. She walked over toMatey and poured some of the cold water on her slumped head. Matey’s headjerked up as the cold water hit her, running down her back and over her breasts. The woman grinned and sang a line from the old Everly Brothers hit “Wake up,little Susie, wake up.”Matey stared up at her. “What the hell are you doing? Are you crazy?” Shestruggled to get up. “Damn you, untie me.”The woman kneeled down on Matey’s bare legs. Matey yelled in pain. The twowomen glared at each other.“Mrs. Rhineman, you have a piece of a claim check that I want.”“How do you know who I am?” Matey shouted as she struggled to get free. “Getthe hell off of me, you son of a bi**h!”The woman didn’t move as she grinned, “Oh, such bad language from such arefined lady.” She laughed. “I know your husband hated you and sent you one ofthe letters with a red piece of the claim check.” Matey didn’t say anything but keptglaring. “I want that red piece of paper.” She raised a long-bladed knife and held itclose to Matey’s face.“I–I–I don’t,” stuttered Matey as the blades pressed against her cheek. “Don’t hurtme,” she begged. The woman reached up, cut off a long strand of Matey’s blonde hair, showed it toher, and tossed it to the ground. Then she placed the knife blade over Matey’s leftear. “Your ear is coming off next if you don’t tell me where it is.”

Matey could feel the pressure of the blade against her ear. She began sobbing butdidn’t answer. More pressure was put on the blade, slightly cutting the ear. Mateygroaned in pain. Blood was running down the side of her face. “Please stop, I’llpay you to stop.”“Tell me where it is.”Matey kept crying but didn’t answer. The woman pressed down on the knife. The blade cut half way through Matey’sear. She screamed in pain, “Oh God! No! Please, please don’t,” she pleaded. Thenshe told the woman where she hid the claim check.“Is that true?” The woman glared at her menacingly.“Yes, yes, it is.” Matey continued to cry. “Please don’t hurt me anymore. I havemoney. I don’t need that damn ten million.”“No, you don’t,” leered the woman, and slit Matey’s throat.

My Thoughts
Puzzle of Death by Donahue B. Silvis is a heart pumping Detective Mystery Thriller from beginning to end. It is well crafted, with a wide cast of characters from the drug cartel, FBI agents, U.S. Senator, ambassadors from China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, Detroit mobsters, multiple torturers/killers, and Iranian secret agents, just to name a few.
Private Detective Jake Wayde received a letter with a piece of a puzzle. He soon realizes that he’s caught in the middle of a deadly search for ten million dollars in cash and a chemical formula that could change the world. PLEASE NOTE: there is occasional cursing, sexual situations and extreme violence. So if you are a bit squeamish about that type of content, then definitely not a book for you to read. Has guts and gore, and twists and turns, and a few surprises, I didn’t see the ending coming.
Steady paced from the first page to the last page with well developed characters and a mesmerizing, heart pumping storyline. The story flows seamlessly and effortlessly. The cast of characters are fantastic. Strongly recommended if you enjoy Crime Mystery Thrillers, Detectives, action, guts and gore and a fantastic story.”I voluntarily received a complimentary copy, however, these are my honest opinions. I was in no way required nor compensated to write a review.”
