USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Bernard returns to the town readers are falling in love with…

In one fiery moment, Finn Abrams went from cocksure firefighter to scarred survivor. Now all he wants is to put his life together again, get back on a hotshot crew, and figure out exactly what happened to him during the Big Canyon burnover. He never expected to be knocked off his feet by a gorgeous, no-nonsense stranger to Jupiter Point—the one woman who seems completely immune to his famous charm.

Coolly practical, Lisa Peretti knows she won’t be in Jupiter Point for long. As an ER nurse in Houston, she helped a friend escape a dangerous situation. Now she’s hiding out in the little town, determined to keep a low profile. The last thing she needs is attention, especially in the form of the tabloid-starring, actress-dating, too-sexy-for-his-own-good Finn Abrams.

Still, Lisa can’t resist someone who needs her help. As long as she can keep her distance, working with the local hero as he recovers from his burns should be no problem, right?

Wrong. When danger follows Lisa to Jupiter Point, she's startled to find Finn ready, willing, and more than able to come to her rescue. Add to that a meddling movie crew, some kindhearted locals, and her own unruly heart, and Lisa quickly loses any shot at keeping her feelings under cover.

Fire season in Jupiter Point is always smokin' hot...but this time it’s going to be Setting Off Sparks.

My Thoughts

Fans of Jennifer Bernard’s Jupiter Point Series know that this series is full of HOT men and the women who make them sweat. I always wanted to know Finn’s story from book one, Set the Night on Fire. We learned a bit about Finn in each story, but with SETTING OFF SPARKS, we finally get his full story. I have to say I was surprised and delighted with SETTING OFF SPARKS. Not only is Finn’s full story something fans will adore, it’s heartrendingly touching. Add to that Lisa and her story….and well you get a book that will have you so eager to turn the page and yet dreading the final sentence. I loved how these two interacted, their reactions were realistic and completely believable. The heat between them doesn’t feel forced or faked in any way and makes you smile as you witness their romance. There are a couple of stories going on around Lisa and Finn. Finn’s back story, the reason he did what he did, and Lisa’s reasons for even being in Jupiter Point. Then you have the romance building between Lisa and Finn, and the movie that’s being filmed. It sounds like a lot of characters and stories but it all works so very well together that you forget it’s actually a book and feel like you are part of the story. I hated to see this story end. I so wanted to keep reading more about Lisa and Finn and the rest of Jupiter Point! Fans of Jennifer Bernard know that her stories always deliver fun, steam, a little suspense, and tons of great characters. If you are new to Jennifer Bernard and Jupiter Point, I think you are in for a HUGE treat. This story will melt your heart and leave you eager for more. I can’t wait to see what’s next in Jupiter Point it’s sure to be a scorcher!

Summary from Goodreads:
From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Bernard…sometimes the only way forward is into the flames …

To his wildfire hotshot crew, he’s Rollo–firefighter, loyal friend, lifesaver. To his family, he’s Rollington Wareham III, black sheep and heir to a banking fortune. But now that he’s turned thirty, Rollo knows his days of firefighting and freedom are over. He has responsibilities. Duties. Goodbye hotshots, hello boardroom—and a socially acceptable bride. This is absolutely the worst time to realize just how sexy and adorable his good friend Brianna is.

Put her in a garden with some plants, and Brianna Gallagher knows just what to do. Send her on a date with an attractive man and things get awkward. Epically awkward. It’s a good thing she and Rollo are such great friends. It would be a total disaster if she started noticing his ripped physique and sculpted muscles. Kissing him is a definite no-no. As for falling into bed … well, that might be okay as long as they both know it’s a limited time deal. She doesn’t belong in his world, and he can’t stay in hers. No matter how much she’s falling for him.

But fate has a way of changing people’s plans. When a family crisis follows Rollo to Jupiter Point, he turns to the one woman he trusts above all others. Throw in a disastrous visit to Manhattan, a bride hunt, and the world’s most awkward crush, and it will take a miracle to bring them together. Or a shocking event that puts Brianna’s life at risk …

My Thoughts
OMG OMG OMG!!! This is Rollo’s story and what a wonderful story it is. I love Rollo. He’s just so big and sweet. Ms. Bernard has written a story that at turns is sweet, funny, sexy, and above all emotional. There are so many things about this story I loved, the characters, the story-line, the passion, the action, there’s even a touch of mystery to this one. Fans of this series have already meet Rollo, however if you are new to the series, don’t worry you’ll still love him. He’s a guy caught between two worlds, the world he loves, his Firefighter crew, and the world he was born into, the world of wealth and privilege that leaves him frustrated and angry. I loved watching Rollo find his place between these two worlds and falling in love with his best friend, Brianna. Brianna is a fun character, she’s strong, but also unsure of herself. I love that Rollo loves her as she is and doesn’t want her to be anyone else or to change. Brianna is the ultimate tomboy. And she has a crush on someone else. Watching her realize that the crush was just that and didn’t really mean anything as she realized her feelings for Rollo was such fun. If you are new to Jennifer Bernard this is a great book to start with. You will not be lost but you will want to read the previous books, just because they are great reads. INTO THE FLAMES is book 3 in the Jupiter Point series. I’m so eager to see what’s next for this series. I highly recommend this one to EVERYONE!

And her amazing …

{It’s a Wonderful Fireman}

(Contemporary Romance)

It's a Wonderful Fireman

MBA&M: Why fireman as your heroes?

I learned recently that on Family Feud, firefighting came out on top as the sexiest profession. I have to say that I agree! There’s just something so appealing about these men (and women) who accept danger and risk as part of their existence, and yet don’t see themselves as big heroes. They often have a down-to-earth quality about them and a great sense of humor. I also appreciate the brotherhood aspect of fire stations. They depend on each other when out on a call, and hang out together back at the firehouse. That bond can be very strong and very inspiring.

MBA&M: Who was your favorite character to write. Why?

If I say Stan, would you laugh? I’m just kidding. The firehouse dog is great, but I’d have to go with a human character. Vader was a ton of fun to write. He’s the hero of Four Weddings and a Fireman, and a big goofball with a heart of gold. In the current story, IT’S A WONDERFUL FIREMAN, I really enjoyed delving into Mulligan’s past, reliving key scenes in his life with him.  Sometimes they were rough experiences, but they really showed what an innately caring person he is despite his bad boy appearance.

MBA&M: What has been your most important accomplishment, so far in your writing career?

When I made it onto the USA Today bestseller list, the feeling was absolutely incredible. A piece of validation like that really goes a long way. It’s like someone saying, “You’re doing the right thing, taking on this crazy writing business. Just keep at it, and you never know what amazing things will happen.” But truthfully, I’d say that my most important accomplishment is that despite all the ups and downs of the publishing business, my passion for writing hasn’t gone away, in fact, it’s grown. Every email I get from a reader is just as meaningful to me – probably more – as that week I spent on the bestseller list.

MBA&M: Who has been the greatest influence in your life, be it personal or writing career?

Well, this isn’t a “person” – though people are involved — but I’d say my yoga and meditation practice has been a huge influence on me both personally and in my writing career. It’s helped me become more even-keeled, focused, and intuitive. All of those traits are incredibly valuable in my personal life, in my career path, and in my writing itself. I’m not sure any of my books would have gotten written without all that personal work that came before.

MBA&M: What would you love to do in life, you haven’t yet done. Why?

That’s easy! I would love to attend the red carpet premiere of the movie version of one of my books. I’d wear a fantastic dress and make my husband buy a tuxedo. My daughter and I would spend the entire day beforehand at a beauty salon. Why haven’t I done this yet? Yeah, good question, Hollywood! Come on, studio heads! Don’t you know that people love firemen?

MBA&M: Last but not least, what can readers expect from you in the future, any major changes in your life, coming forward?

My big news for next year is the start of a new series, Love Between the Bases, about the Kilby Catfish, a minor league team from Texas. ALL OF ME, the first book, will be released on May 26, 2015, one day before my birthday, which I hope is a good omen. I’m really excited about this series, though I admit it’s sad to say goodbye to the firemen. I’m going to see if there’s a way I can weave a fireman or two into this series.

Thank you so much for having me on the blog!

What a pleasure to have you with us and our readers today! Congratulations on your latest release! Much success in your future endeavors!!

SYNOPSIS:

Hard-edged fireman Dean Mulligan has never been a
big fan of Christmas. Twinkly lights and sparkly tinsel can’t brighten the
memories of too many years spent in ramshackle foster homes. Although he’s
established himself as one of the top firefighters at San Gabriel Station 1, he
doesn’t think he’s good enough for someone like gorgeous Lizzie.

Lizzie Breen is used to fighting-from her alpha
male brothers, who try to smother her in the name of safety, to the
life-threatening childhood illness she overcame. She knows what she and
Mulligan feel for each other is a lot more than a fling, but she can’t get him
to see that. The only gift Lizzie wants to give him this season is her love,
but he’s not willing to accept it.
When Mulligan is trapped in the burning wreckage
of a holiday store, a Christmas angel arrives to open his eyes. But is it too
late? This Christmas, it’ll take an angel, a determined woman in love, and the
entire Bachelor Firemen crew to make him believe … it is indeed a wonderful life.

EXCERPT:

“You shouldn’t be
flirting with the new probie. If Fred was here, he’d tell you.” Mulligan looked
very sure of that fact—arrogant, even. She assessed the bump in his nose, the
way his biceps bulged from the sleeves of his T-shirt, his air of absolute
assurance. Another girl might be intimidated, but Lizzie had grown up with four
brothers who’d become soldiers and a firefighter. She’d outgrown intimidation
by the age of six.
“Why are you so suspicious of Ace? He’s part
of the brotherhood, isn’t he?”
“Not yet,”
Mulligan said with decisive finality, as if everything had now been settled.
“You stay here, and I’ll tell him to get lost.”
“You will not!”
She grabbed his arm as he brushed past her. It felt like grabbing a log, that’s
how thick and strong his forearm was. “It’s none of your business.”
“It is my
business. Freddie’s my business. We’re tight.”
“If you were that
tight, you’d know that his only involvement with my love life is feeding me ice
cream after a breakup,” she snapped. “Stay out of it, Mulligan. You have some
nerve, you really do. I’ve never even met you before, and you’re trying to tell
me who to sleep with.”
He stopped dead.
She kept her hand on his arm because it felt so good. His tendons tightened
under her touch, and she saw his jaw flex.
A quick flick of
his wrist, and suddenly she was pressed against him, chest to chest, thighs to
thighs. Sensation poured through her; it felt like standing next to a volcano.
“I’m not telling you who to sleep with. I’m telling you who not to sleep with.”
“Oh, really?” she
snapped, furious. “Who should I not
sleep with?”
“Anyone but me.”

I HEART SOCIAL MEDIA~ JENNIFER BERNARD~THE NIGHT BELONGS TO FIREMAN

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

JENNIFER BERNARD

Dreaming with Fire

The Night Belongs to Fireman

I Heart Social Media
I rarely read magazines anymore, with the exception of one kind: the inflight magazines stuck in the back pocket of the airplane seat in front of me. You know those? Do you read them? For some reason (enforced captivity, maybe?) I devour them cover to cover. So when I got a call from someone writing an article for the Alaska Airlines magazine, I felt as if I’d won an Oscar or something. (Me? In a magazine snuggled up against an airsickness bag? I can die now.) Anyway, he wanted to talk to me about social media. How I use it; what I do online; how I handle the demand on my time. Is it difficult, as an author today, being required to do social media on top of the actual writing of books?

I knew what he was getting at. I’ve heard authors talk about the “good old days” when all they had to do was write their books, and the publisher did the rest. But I have a completely different take. For me, living in Alaska, so far from the rest of the world, the existence of social media is an incredible boon. Honestly, I’m grateful I became an author in a post-social media world. Writing is a lonely profession. I love being able to put my writing on pause and hop onto Twitter to see what everyone’s talking about. Or check in with my Facebook author page and see what crazy captions people came up with for a photo I posted. This is FUN for me.

Sure, it takes time. Everything worthwhile does. Sure, there are times when I surface from Facebook and wonder where the last two hours went. But how else would I be able to connect so easily with readers, or other authors? It’s expensive and time-consuming to leave Alaska for conferences or book signings. Of course I do that too, but not as much as other authors – I just can’t. But I can log onto Facebook and chat about the latest sexy fireman photo someone posted on my wall. I can cruise my friends’ timelines and find out who’s reading what, who is dealing with family issues, who’s excited about the baseball playoffs. With social media, this incredibly fun, vibrant community exists right at my fingertips. My life would be much sadder and lonelier without it.

For me, social media is more about connection and conversation than about promotion. But since I have a book out right now, I should mention that The Night Belongs to Fireman is now available at most major retailers of books and ebooks, Reviewers are using words like “delightful,” “steamy,” “witty,” and “irresistible.” You can read the first chapter here.

Are you on social media? What’s your favorite place to hang out online? Do you find it too distracting, or worth the distraction?

The Night Belongs to FiremanDaring . . . Sexy . . . Irresistible . . .
They’re the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel

When fireman Fred Breen rescues a bachelorette party after a construction crane collapses onto their limo, the media labels him the “Bachelor Hero.” But all Fred can think about is the petite brunette with the sexy mane of dark curls who bolted away from him faster than a wildfire after he carried her to safety. And when he discovers she’s none other than Rachel Kessler, the daughter of a tech billionaire, the girl whose kidnapping riveted the nation, he intends to learn every intimate detail about this intriguing woman who sets his pulse on fire.

Rachel can’t deny the lean-muscled firefighter is smokin’ hot. But after having one too many drinks at the bar where she first meets him, Rachel knows she’s made a fool of herself. Yet when he rescues her from the limo, she feels safe for the first time since she was held for ransom as a child. Then her overprotective father insists Fred be her bodyguard—and his close presence kindles a burning desire that only he can extinguish.

THE NIGHT BELONGS TO FIREMAN has been getting great reviews.

“Sexy fireman hero saves the heiress who has everything and nothing—what’s not to like? Smart, fun and engaging. … Bernard ends her Bachelor Firemen series with a fast-paced, witty read.”
Kirkus Reviews

“Bernard’s Bachelor Firemen series always provides a steamy, irresistible reading experience, and this sixth entry is full of such lighthearted humor that fans and newcomers alike will be thoroughly delighted.” 4 1/2 stars
