FOREVER’S COWBOY CRAZY TOUR AND GIVEAWAY WITH CHRISTIE CRAIG….

FOREVER AND MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE PROUDLY PRESENTS:

WELCOME, CHRISTIE CRAIG!!

MBA&M: What do you feel the allure of “cowboys” are to readers?

CC:  First, I’d like to thank you for having me at your blog. I so appreciate bloggers helping me get the word out about my books. Now, to answer your question . . .

Ahh, cowboys, good ol’ boy Texans.  There is just something about men who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, to go after what they want, whether it’s a girl or a villain. These men are confident and sure of themselves.  They have it in their heads about what they want and they aren’t afraid to go after it with everything they have.  In fact, they approach everything in their lives with confidence and bravado.   Ahh, but when they meet the heroine . . . well, that’s when those big, strong cowboys grow weak in the knees and unlike the horses they’re used to taming, this time it’s usually them who get broken in.  What’s not to love about a good ol’ boy Texan with big heart?

MBA&M: What inspired you to write this genre?

CC:  I wanted to write a trilogy similar to my Divorced and Desperate series.   All my novels are set in Texas.  Why?  Well, because Texas is just unique.  There isn’t very many places where you can get mad at someone and buy a gun that same day to take them out before you get over being pissed.  LOL.  Seriously, Texas is just a bit different.  And Texans are too.  They’re bold, risk takers, slightly flawed but good people, and that just makes them good characters.  My books also include some suspense, so I decided when plotting to make my three heroes private investigators.  And because I always like to give my characters internal issues because of some past heartache, I decided to have had them be former cops who were framed and sent to prison for a crime they didn’t commit.  I love having a lot of baggage to work with.  It just makes my characters’ happy endings so much sweeter.

MBA&M: What is next for you and your writing?

CC:  Well, I also write a Young Adult Paranormal series called Shadow Falls for St. Martin’s Press/\ Griffin as C.C. Hunter, so I stay pretty busy keeping up with two series.  Right now, I’m writing the fifth and last book in the Shadow Falls series, and I’m about to start the third and last book in the Hotter in Texas series.  After that, I get to dive into something completely new.  I always love starting something brand new.  I get reenergized.

MBA&M: Who do you contribute your desire for writing to and why?

CC:  A great question!  Being southern, storytelling was part of my heritage.  We would sit around the dinner table and try to one up each other with stories.  And if a lie made the story better, that was just fine.   Being dyslexic, I didn’t entertain the idea of becoming a writer until I was an adult and ballsy enough to take on that challenge.  However, storytelling was ingrained in me at a young age.  My grandmother, Evelyn Keith, was a school teacher and a closet writer herself, so she was a big inspiration to me.  She never once let me believe that just because I had a disability, it meant I couldn’t accomplish things.  “Just work harder and you’ll make it.”  She was right.  It was hard work, but since I just hit the NY Times and the USA Today best-seller lists, she also might be right that I’d make it.  Thanks Grandma!

MBA&M: Do you have any regrets?

CC:  Hmm…what is the definition of a regret?  Do I look back and see mistakes.  Oh, heck yes.  But would I change them now?  I’m not so sure about that.  You see, the lessons I learned, the experiences I’ve lived through and the struggles I’ve endured have all shaped and molded me into the person I am today.  I’m a better writer because I’ve known what it is to love and to have my heart broken and taken that long walk down divorce lane.  Dropping out of high school isn’t something I’d recommend to anyone, but the lessons I learned from being tossed into adulthood before my time, and teaching myself to write by my own rules is part of what had shaped me into the writer I am today.  So yes, I made a lot of mistakes, but most of them I wouldn’t change, because then I’m not sure I’d be who I am today.

WICKEDLY,WITTY HISTORICAL ROMANCE AUTHOR VICKY DREILING AND GIVEAWAY….

GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING AND MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE PRESENTS…..
WICKEDLY,WITTY HISTORICAL ROMANCE AUTHOR: VICKY DREILING!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle. That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble.”
When she’s not writing, Vicky enjoys reading, films, concerts, and, most of all, long lunches with friends. She holds degrees in English literature and marketing. A native Texan, she shares her home with her daughter and a spoiled mini-lop rabbit who lives in a slightly gnawed cardboard cottage. You can learn more at: www.VickyDreiling.net
WELCOME VICKY TO MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE!!

MBA&M: What made you decide to write historical romance?

VD: I bought my first romance accidentally. Seriously, I didn’t know it was a romance until I got home and read the back cover. I’d never read a romance before and was a bit wary. But then I started reading Judith McNaught’s ALMOST HEAVEN and found myself completely captivated. Of course, I went to the bookstore to purchase all of her books I could find. Since that time, I’ve read other romance subgenres, but historical romance remains my favorite. So that’s why I write it.

MBA&M: What are the challenges in writing a historical romance series?

VD: My books are trilogies, rather than series. When readers found out that my first trilogy did not have a series name, they gave it one! My trilogy became known as the fan-named “How to” series. J  The main difference for readers is that each of my books is a standalone. All three books can be read in any order. I think this is helpful to readers who are just discovering newer authors like me. Interestingly, several readers have told me that they read the first two books again, back-to-back, and said that there was a slightly richer experience for them. But again, all three books can be read in any order.

MBA&M: What is on the horizon for you?

VD: I’m writing a new trilogy for my publisher set in Regency England (it’s my favorite!). I will also be publishing a digital prequel to the new trilogy that is tentatively scheduled for fall 2012. One of the minor characters from HOW TO RAVISH A RAKE is the hero in my next book. I’m very excited about the new story. If readers are on Pinterest, they can find my Secret Regency Book board here: http://bit.ly/yOZfxS

Other than that, I’ve got several appearances this year at conferences as well as speaking engagements. So 2012 is shaping up to be a very busy year for me. Readers can check my website and blog for upcoming information.
