My thoughts:

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle is a fantastic Historical read. #3 in “The Infamous Somertons”. It can be read as a stand alone. See, “An Artful Seduction” and “Real Earls Break the Rules”.

This is the story of Chloe Somerton, the impoverished daughter of an art forger, who has done a nefarious thing or two to survive her circumstances and Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, a devishish handsome Duke, who knows Chloe’s past, and could ruin her future. Can a battle of wills turn into a forever kind of love? Pick up THE DUKE MEETS HIS MATCH to find out for yourself.

Ms.Gabrielle has written a story that is not only captivating but intriguing, as well as close to ones heart….returning veteran’s plight with all their scars both inside and out. She has managed to weave history with a beautiful love story. She combines returning veterans from Waterloo with the plight of the poor and impoverished to create a captivating tale of a battle of wills, finding love, healing unseen scars and wounded hearts to find a HEA, and so much more. I absolutely loved this fast paced, well written story, of a duke who met his match. Powerful and compelling!

BLOG TOUR~~HOW TO RUIN YOUR REPUTATION IN 10 DAYS~~HARMONY WILLIAMS with #Giveaway & #Review

Meet the Author:

Harmony Williams has been living vicariously in Regency-era England since she discovered Jane Austen. Since time machines don’t yet exist, she’s had to make do with books—fictional and non-fictional. On the rare occasion she doesn’t have her nose stuck in a book, she likes to drink tea and spend time with her 90-lb lapdog. A feminist, she writes stories about strong women and the men who support them as equals.

About the Book:

In 1814 London, England, a lady is defined as a demure, delicate flower. Miss Francine Annesley is not that lady. If men were like plants, she would have a garden of admirers to choose from instead of the thorn in her side since childhood, Julian Beckwith. But she would make an even worse nun than she does a lady, which will be her fate if she can’t dig up a husband before the Season ends. However, Julian is not an option.
With only ten short days left in the Season, Francine doesn’t have time to waste on petty squabbles or knee-weakening kisses, even if Julian’s offer to fulfill her every wish rouses her curiosity. It seems men are more complicated than plants. Too bad love bloomed at the most inconvenient of times…

My thoughts:

How to Lose Your Reputation in 10 days by Harmony Williams is an interesting and engaging Historical Romance set in 1814 England. While, #2 it can be read as a stand alone. See, “How to Play the Game of Love”, #1.

This is my first time reading Harmony Williams, I have to say I was totally entranced and intrigued by her charactizations, her vivid descriptions and her storytelling.

Miss Francine Annesley is not a  demure lady, but has book sense and intelligence.  Julian Beckwith has been a thorn in Francine’s side since childhood. A friends to lovers kind of romance, one of my favorite kinds of Historical Romance.

A sweet, funny and utterly adorable read from beginning to end. Francine and Julian make such an great couple. They’re engaging, believable and realistic. Ms. Williams has done a great job of interweaving sexism, self – esteem and vulnerabilities into a story with depth and understanding.

My only complaint,  and not sure I’d call it a true complaint, I don’t usual enjoy first person stories, but, I enjoyed this one. Ms. Williams made me forget it was written in first person. A great read, with many facets to a great story.

I received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own

VIRTUAL TOUR~THE HIGHLANDER’S CONQUEST~ELIZA KNIGHT

What is a Highlander to do when he falls for the daughter of his enemy?

Highland warrior, Blane Sutherland, has one mission: disguise himself as an Englishman, cross the border and retrieve Lady Aliah de Mowbray. Always up for a challenge, he agrees, pursuing his conquest with vigor—and trying to deny the powerful desire that eclipses him each time he touches his charge. A rogue of the highest order and a younger son, he has nothing to offer a lady but a broken heart.

And what is a lady to do when she cannot trust her heart?

Aliah is skeptical of the English noble who has come to take her to her father and sister in Scotland, but she pushes her doubts aside. Without word in months, she must make certain her family is safe, then she can return to England to join the convent to which she has sworn to pledge her life. But then her escort reveals his true self—he’s a Highlander and his kisses are more seductive than the sweetest of wines.

Surrender never tasted so sweet…
Late Fall
Northern England, 1297A violent banging at the manor door startled Aliah from her studies and set Frosty, the family’s monstrous Irish wolfhound, to barking ferociously. Aliah jerked backward against the oak chair she sat in, hitting her head against the ancient wood and stifling a harsh word beneath her breath. Her father, Baron de Mowbray, had left a small contingent of men to protect her while he escorted her older sister Arbella to her bridegroom in Scotland. These men would fight to keep her safe until their very last breaths. But who was to say they hadn’t already taken that last shuddering inhale?
Aliah glanced around the room, filled with memories, but not with people. Today, her maid Glenda was her only companion. Well, Frosty as well—who in fact was a far superior protector than her maid. Swallowing her fear, she rubbed the ache from the back of her head and squared her shoulders. Strength. That was what she needed, even if the sound of someone knocking made her want to run to the opposite end of the manor and hide.
Her father should have returned a month ago. The only news she’d managed to garner was that a battle took place at Stirling Bridge in Scotland—the very place her sister was to marry.Had the battle now come to her own door?

Aliah jumped as a strong fist once again slammed the door.

“Glenda, would you answer the door?” Aliah asked.

’Twas Saturday morning and most of the servants had gone to tend family or to enjoy themselves in whatever way they did, leaving Aliah quite alone—and at the mercy of whoever stood outside her door. Could they have dispensed of her father’s guards so quickly?

Glenda, afraid of her own shadow, started to shake her head, but Aliah gave her a stern look. The woman had been driving her mad since she was a babe and ever since Arbella left, Aliah had little patience for the older woman’s nonsense.

Aliah set down the book of Gaelic she’d been studying—she was determined to learn the language because she secretly believed the Scots would soon invade. Understanding their barbaric conversations was crucial. Aliah smoothed her gown and stood tall.

Glenda scurried toward the door, Frosty a foot ahead of her.
Aliah tried to find comfort in the fact that perhaps the guards had allowed whoever came knocking through the manor gates. She’d heard no clanging of metal or yells of pain. Aye, the only conclusion that made sense was, they were not enemies, but friends.

She could use a good friend. The comfort of someone she knew. Aliah frowned. She had few friends, and seldom was it that they dropped by.
So who had the audacity to practically beat down her door?

“Wait!” Aliah shouted just as Glenda touched the wooden plank barring the door.

She hurried to retrieve her bow and an arrow from beneath her chair. As swiftly as possible, she cocked an arrow and aimed it at the door. Taking a deep breath, she nodded for her maid to open it. If her father’s enemies dared to come after her, they were in for a big surprise, she wouldn’t surrender so easily.

An interminable amount of time seemed to pass before the door was fully open. Aliah stepped back, speechless. Standing before her was the most staggeringly handsome man she’d ever seen—and he was quite alone. Frosty growled for only a moment, quickly silenced by a motion the stranger made with his hand. What? How had he done that? Aliah struggled to keep her mouth from falling open at the man’s effortless command of the dog. The animal had favored her sister, but since Arbella had left, Frosty refused to leave Aliah’s side.

She felt a certain amount of betrayal at Frosty’s easy acceptance of this stranger. Who in the name of God was he? And why didn’t one of her father’s men escort him? She’d have to speak with them about that later.

The visitor wore an intriguing cap of deep burgundy, a dark feather jutting from the side, held on by some sort of medallion. A thick black wool cloak lay open to reveal a matching tunic, and leather studded armor. White hose outlined the shape of his legs in a way that drew her eyes from his intense dark green gaze. His boots were made of soft, expensive-looking leather, and the gilded belt at his waist held a gleaming, sharp sword that was hard to miss.

Aliah allowed her gaze to travel over the length and breadth of his solid form, before getting ahold of herself.

“Will you shoot me, my lady?” His voice was deep, raspy, and stroked along the ends of her nerves in a way that made her want to run away and kiss him at the same time.

My Thoughts:

Passion and Plunder by Collette Cameron is yet another amazing and exciting Scottish Historical Romance in this thrilling series. Set in Tornbury Fortress, Scottish Highlands 1819. While, #5 in her highly anticipated “Highland Heather Romancing a Scot” series, it can be read as a stand alone.

This is the story of Lydia Farnsworth, the daughter of laird Bailoch Farnsworth and the only remaining heir to Tornbury Fortress due to a series of misfortunes. Her beloved father is dying as well. And, Alasdair McTavish, son of Craiglocky Keep’s war chief. He is a seasoned warrior, as well as brawn, strong and determined with a secret. He’s sent to Tornbury to train the Farnsworth soldiers as requested by laird Bailoch to Alasdair’s clan laird.

OMG, what a thrilling, exciting story with suspense, a bit of mystery, betrayal and the possibility of love and finding a HEA.

“Passion and Plunder” has twists and turns, a few surprises, and a passion for life. Lydia, being the only true heir, except for her mother’s sniffling nephew, Ross, to Tornbury Fortress, believes her dying father will name her as his sucessor, so she tries to prove her worth to him and the clan. Alasdair, has dreamt of Lydia for awhile, but couldn’t act on his feelings because of his secret, until trouble threatens Lydia’s life, then all bets are off, he’d do anything to protect her and her clan.

“Passion and Plunder” is a fast paced story with a smoothly flowing plot, that is easy to follow. The characters are well rounded, well-developed as well as, engaging and captivating. This story was one of those Scottish reads where, the characters and the plot are believable and realistic for the Era.

I throughly enjoyed Lydia and Alasdair’s story, how they came to stop fighting their feelings, and got down to what they truly wished. Until….Alasdair’s secret came to life, then things change, for both he and Lydia. Can they find their way to a HEA, and their true love?

I enjoy Collette Cameron’s writing style, her vivid details, her charactizations, her detailed plots and her true sense of the Scottish clans, and the troubles that plague them. A truly masterful and brilliant storyteller. I was once again glued to the pages of “Passion and Plunder”. A very exciting and intriguing story! A great read for fans of Scottish Historical Romance, ones who enjoy a great story of romance, danger, betrayal and the passion of life. Another hit for Collette Cameron!! A true treasure!

MY THOUGHTS:

WICKED RIVALS by Lauren Smith is an excitng Regency/Scottish Historical Romance. Book 4 in the “League of Rogues”. What an exciting series this has been thus far!

Filled with passion, intrigue, betrayal, trust, forgiveness, healing and so much more. What a fantastic and exciting series, the “League of Rogues” has been!

I absolutely loved “Wicked Rivals”. From beginning to end, it is fast paced, with enticing and energetic characters and an intriguing storyline.

Follow, Ashton, Lord Lennox, a wealthy, powerful and strong-willed, and ruthless member of the “League of Rogues”. He is determined to find his enemy and destroy him, before he can destroy his friends.

Rosalind Melbourne, a widow and the daughter of a Scottish lord, who was cruel and ruthless.

Rosalind and Ashton are both business minded, strong-willed, and  control freaks. What a perfect couple! I enjoyed the interaction between Ashton and Rosalind, as the sparks fly and love blossoms, against all odds.

Historical fans will absolutely love “Wicked Rivals”. It has a wide range of emotions, with a compelling and powerful storyline. However, the reader is left with questions has to who is out to destroy the “League of Rogues” and why. A continuing saga!  Each book brings dramatic and intriguing characters.
