MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about yourself?
I am crazily married with four children. When kids aren’t around, I love to snowboard and play all kinds of sports, but writing is my passion. Interesting tidbit – the first boy I ever kissed in currently in jail for murder. Glad I dodged that bullet!
MBA&M: What was your inspiration behind writing “Fractured Soul”?
I knew after writing Fractured Light that there was more to Llona’s story. And the opportunity to write about an all girls school set in the forests of New York was to tempting to pass up. Fractured Soul is a lot darker than Fractured Light, and I dig that.
MBA&M: Have you always wanted to write Young Adult fiction and Fantasy?
I love the fantasy/paranormal genre. Anything can happen and as an author I like to exploit that fact. And I love writing for young adults. It’s a time where there’s many firsts: first love, first heartache, first driving, etc. This makes for great tension!
MBA&M: When the lights go out, what do you dream about? The rest of us probably dream so different than you do,we dream of fairy tales and stuff, what about you?
I’m not sure our dreams are much different from each other. I do know I have a very active imagination, often a dark one. My day dreams would probably scare most people. 🙂
MBA&M: Who was you favorite character to write about and why?
I love writing about Llona, especially in this book. I have a huge fascination with man’s “inner beast” and how one learns to overcome these personal demons. In fact, one of my favorite stories is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
MBA&M: If “Fractured Soul” was to become a major motion picture or TV series, who what actore you have portray the characters?
Llona would be played by Amanda Seyfried and Christian would be Zac Efron. Liam would be played by Ian Somerhalder.
MBA&M: If you could step into a book, what book, whether, one of your or someone else’s?
I would love to live in Harry Potter’s world. We would be besties of course, hanging out with Ron and Hermoine. And my wand would be uber cool and I’d know all sorts of magic.
MBA&M: As a child who was your favorite author, and what stories did you enjoy reading?
I loved reading Christopher Pike and the Encyclopedia Brown books.
MBA&M: What is next for you?
In addition to the release of Fractured Soul, I also have my humorous memoir titled CONFESSIONS OF A CEREAL MOTHER coming out in March. I also just completed a darker YA novel titled UNLEASHED. It’s a twist on the Jekyll and Hyde story. 🙂 And finally I’m currently writing book three, FRACTURED TRUTH.
MBA&M: How many books will be in “FRACTURED LIGHT” series?
3 – FRACTURED LIGHT, FRACTURED SOUL, FRACTURED TRUTH
As soon as the Vyken appeared in the doorway, I tossed a ball hard. He dodged it by jumping up along the side of the wall, his nails and bare toes somehow finding a hold in the thin cracks of the wall. I threw another one, but he was already moving, scrambling alongside the stones like a spider. He was grinning.
I rolled away from the wall until I was in the middle of the room. I lost sight of him for just a fraction of a second, but that was enough. The Vyken was gone, or, I should say, hiding. He was still here. I could feel him. I looked up toward the rafters of the tower roof. It was pitch black.
At the bottom of the tower, I heard Christian begin to ascend the stairs. “I’m coming, Llona!” he yelled.
Still staring up, I created Light again in the palm of my hand and willed it to rise. The closer it got to the rafters the faster my heart beat. Sweat rolled down the small of my back.
Light began to fill dark spaces, exposing that which wished to remain hidden. My Vyken was there, but he wasn’t alone. Another sat crouched on a beam. Where his left eye should’ve been there was an empty hole.
I screamed when my Vyken dropped from the ceiling, extinguishing the light. He fell onto my stomach, pushing my shoulders into the floor. I tried to create Light, but it was as if he knew what I was going to do because his hands slipped up and pinned my wrists together. He bent forward and inhaled my skin. The warmth of his breath steamed my ear when he said, “I’m going to eat every part of you.”
About Fractured Soul (sequel to Fractured Light)

This fast-paced tale of love, loyalty, and overcoming the darkness will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page!

“I love these books! A kick-butt heroine and a hottie love interest, with a refreshingly original concept. Be prepared—once you start, these are hard to put down.”
—Paula Cotton, book reviewer at ReadingLark.blogspot.com
“Fractured Soul is a brilliant sequel, exceeding even the remarkable first book in the series. It will haunt your every waking moment between the times you’re reading it, and it will stay with you long after you’ve finished. It’s an amazingly well written and engrossing story that I highly recommend—after you’ve read the first one, of course.”
—Cindy Bennett, bestselling author of Geek Girl and Rapunzel Untangled

Blud and Magick
“Uncle Ed, I . . . I did that to them,” she stammered.
Edwin cocked an eyebrow. “Did what?”
She pointed to the two bodies, impaled by ice.
“You did?” His eyes became wide with concern.
Darla nodded, biting her lip. “Uncle Ed . . . what am I?”
Darla Summer was born from the ashes of the dead Shadow Lord, Remmus Alrad. This left the Seven Sages to deliberate what was to be done with her. Darius, the Sage who slew the Shadow Lord, wants her dead. Another Sage, Edwin, believes she deserves a chance to live. Edwin is granted permission to raise her in the human world under the condition that her true identity not be revealed until an appointed time.
Fourteen years later, Darla has no idea of her magical beginnings or her dark heritage. But when she meets Ash and Cirrus—teenage brothers who are not so human themselves—her world is turned upside down. An organization known as the Shadow Risers is out to collect her, claiming that she is the vessel of their Master, and Darla is forced to fight back.
