Club Sin # 6
By: Stacey Kennedy
Releasing July 7, 2015

Club Sin comes alive once again in this decadent new romance from USA Today bestselling author Stacey Kennedy, perfect for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey.

A dedicated cop, Sawyer Quinn blows off steam by immersing himself in his role as a Master at the hottest club in Las Vegas. But when Sawyer goes after the perp who brutally beat his sister, he teams up with Chloe Nash, a sexy private investigator who awakens a sweet new need: to keep her to himself, away from the dungeon of Club Sin. Chloe is beautiful, smart, and too innocent for the BDSM lifestyle. Sawyer’s never wanted a woman like this before. Is her love worth swearing off the one thing that keeps him sane?

There’s something different about Sawyer: a commanding strength that pulls Chloe into a vortex of heady desire. But when she learns about his double life as a Dom, she’s shocked—and afraid she could never complete him. Then he saves her life, and just like that, Chloe knows she will be able to give him anything he desires. She is his—wherever and however he wants to take her.

Excerpt 2

“She’s lucky to be alive.”
Sawyer heard his father’s statement as he took in the sight before him. Even after a full minute of standing in the hospital room he couldn’t process seeing his little sister, Ashlyn, lying in the bed. The harsh scent of antiseptic in his nose, the beeping noise coming from the monitor, and the morphine drip attached to the needle in his sister’s hand all faded into the distance as the beaten state of her face filled his vision.
Black and blue bruises covered her cheekbones. Cuts and scratches spread over every inch of creamy white skin, and stitches outlined the right side of her mouth. Only her long brown hair remained untouched, and that lay beneath the bandages on her head.
Consumed with a wrath foreign to him, Sawyer inhaled a sharp breath through his nose, controlling the desire to explode. He fisted his hands and turned to his parents, Beth and Roger Quinn, asking the obvious: “Where is Travis?”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, son.” His father—a few inches shorter and slightly softer in the middle, with a full head of salt-and-pepper hair—continued in a stony voice, “We need to wait for Ashlyn to wake up. We can’t make assumptions about who attacked her.”
Sawyer heard what his father said, but the darkness rushing into his Roger’s hazel eyes contradicted his words, a confirmation to Sawyer and what he suspected. Travis, Ashlyn’s boyfriend of three months, had done this to her.
His father added, “The police are involved and are interviewing friends and acquaintances to see if anyone knew anything or saw anything out of the ordinary.”
“This attack is brutal, and based on what I’ve seen, it looks personal.” As Sawyer spoke he gestured to his beaten baby sister. “Look at her, for Christ’s sake.” Sawyer was a cop, and he’d seen it before. A beating like this, so intense and violent, typically involved someone the victim knew. “We all know Travis is capable of this and more.”
Travis was an up-and-coming mixed martial arts fighter and had the skills to beat someone into unconsciousness. Sawyer suspected Travis had used steroids on more than one occasion, and he’d seen evidence of Travis’s ’roid rage from time to time. It had never been directed at his baby sister before, though.
A sob ripped from Sawyer’s mother’s mouth. Noticing the pallor on her face, he moved toward her, offering comfort. His chest constricted as he wrapped his arms around his mom’s slender frame. “Please don’t cry, Mom.” Nothing broke him more than to hear her weep.
“Look at what he’s done to her.” His mother sobbed against Sawyer’s chest, her short curly blond hair tickling his neck as she clung to his black T-shirt. “How could he do this?”
Anger bit into Sawyer like a sharp blade while he examined his battered sister. So sweet, so tiny, and so young—she had turned twenty-two only three weeks ago. He was eleven years older, and he had always tried to protect her. His parents hadn’t planned on having a second child—given his mother’s endometriosis, they had thought that conceiving again after Sawyer’s birth would have been impossible. They were shocked when they found out about her pregnancy, but Sawyer was overjoyed that he’d have a playmate, even if it was a much younger sister.
“He’ll be arrested.” Sawyer gently rubbed his mother’s back. “Don’t doubt that.”
“How will she recover from this? My poor baby . . .”His mother’s despairing voice made Sawyer vividly imagine pummeling Travis. Sawyer rejected the thought; as a member of the police force, sworn to serve and protect, he had to let justice be served through the law. Having served in the military and now as a member of Las Vegas’s SWAT team, however, he’d found that sometimes his morals got in the way of what his heart wanted to do, and right now what his heart wanted was to make Travis feel pain.
He held on to his mother tightly, feeling her trembling beneath his arms, and it made Sawyer realize just how Travis had broken into a happy life full of happy memories. In his line of work, he often saw people who experienced horrific childhoods. Not Sawyer and Ashlyn. Their dad, a white-collar worker, had always exceeded the role of a father. His mother, a stay-at-home mom, lived through her children. Travis had brought darkness into the Quinn family.
Sawyer wouldn’t forget that.

As dominating in business as he is in bed, Rand Sterling Winston IV always gets what he wants. From the tousled curls of his jet-black hair, and his sculpted lips and cheekbones, to the drape of the One-Percenter suit beneath his gorgeous wool coat, everything about Rand Sterling Winston IV was icy perfection. Even the sidewalk salt on his shoes looked like decorator frosting. Still, Dani would bet serious money that the man’s veneer was as fake as her knockoff Blahniks, meticulously designed to hide his true colors. She didn’t know what danger lurked behind Winston’s aloof facade, but it snagged her attention, making it almost impossible for her to focus on anything else. The guy was like black ice, she decided. Cold and slick on the surface, dark and dirty underneath. The perfect kind of target for a frigid Boston night.
Glancing up from her papers, Dani looked past Winston once more to the wall of paintings beyond, completely unsurprised to feel the man’s gaze narrow on her across the room. Frauds knew when they were being checked out. So did control freaks. She amended her assessment to add that to the tally of Winston’s impressive list of qualities.
Still, that stare was her cue. Clutching her clipboard officiously, she stepped out from behind the counter to stride across the gallery floor. Just as she reached Tall, Dark, and Loaded, however, she met his gaze for half a second, then veered out of the way.
He hadn’t expected to have to speak to get her attention, she knew. His beautiful face looked more surprised than it probably had at any point in the last six months. Score one for her side. “I’m sorry, sir,” Dani said. “If you’ll excuse me. I have to remove a painting.”
“Remove one?” He frowned at her, the sheer command in his voice keeping her in place as much as the subtle shift of his body. He was taller than she’d expected. At five foot ten without the stilettos, Dani wasn’t used to having anyone look down at her, and she didn’t have to feign the chilliness of her smile as Winston blocked her path, reminding her of her initial evaluation of him. Black ice could be deceptive, too, and Silver Spoon seemed a lot more treacherous up close than he had from across the room. Her pulse was thrumming now, all senses on alert.
RISK IT“Yes. Now, if you’ll excuse me—”
Winston’s smile curved the edge of his mouth, his eyes predatory. “But the showing has only just started. Surely you can’t have a buyer so soon.”
Dani’s return smile was all teeth. “I apologize, but”—she waved her hand over her clipboard —“I’m afraid we do. A bid for twice this piece’s stated price has come in from one of our wealthiest patrons.” She turned and studied the painting dispassionately. “He was quite insistent that it come off the wall immediately.”
“I seriously doubt he is your wealthiest patron here tonight.” The cool, condescending voice dripped money, but it wasn’t Winston who spoke this time. Dani glanced over to his lapdog, surprised to see intelligence flicker in the woman’s jaded eyes. “Except we only stopped in because of the wind, and now we’re leaving.”
Dani lifted her own eyebrow in perfect counterpoint. “I am so relieved to hear that.”

“Why that piece?”

She turned back to her mark, who wasn’t looking at her anymore, but at the small painting on the wall. “It’s amateurish at best.”

“Raw, I believe were his words. Yes . . .” Dani returned her gaze to the wall with equal gravity. “Dark. Forbidden.” She sensed the moment when Winston’s attention slipped off the painting and rested once more on her face. She met his cold eyes without flinching, her manner still polite but firm. “Who’s to say what captures an art lover’s interest though? Now thank you, but I must—”
“Triple the price.” His voice was bored, but Dani froze. Just as her own internal script demanded, her mouth opened in a soft O before she attempted speech again.
“I’m sorry, sir?”

RISK IT“Rand . . .” Ice Barbie was tugging at his arm. “We’re already late.”
But Rand ignored her. He pulled a card out of his jacket, which he flourished at Dani. When she didn’t make a move for it, he slid it onto her clipboard. Even his fingers were beautiful, she realized. Long and hard and cruel. “I’m certain I have an account with this gallery,” he said. “If not, I will by morning. I’d like to have the painting marked as sold, to me, immediately. You can keep it on the wall.”
“Ahhh, of course Mister, hmmm . . .” Dani frowned down at the card, knowing she had already won. Now she was just pushing her luck, pretending not to recognize Rand’s name when surely she would have heard of him, if she was really an employee of the gallery. At the last minute, better judgment ruled. “Oh.” She brought her gaze up quickly, letting her eyes go wide.
“Yes, ‘Oh.’” Rand’s arm candy snorted. “Now, please, Rand, can we go?”
Rand held Dani’s gaze for a long, harrowing moment, and she forced herself not to tense up. The close was by far the most difficult part of the entire scam for her, but usually that was because she had a problem with gloating. This time, however, she wasn’t feeling cocky, exactly. Rand’s eyes were dark and challenging, the fire in their mocking depths promising the kind of pleasure Dani hadn’t experienced in a long, long time. The kind of pleasure he clearly craved, the way a drowning man craved air.
The kind of pleasure he wanted to give to her.
Black ice, baby.

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about Sharon Cullen? I’m a wife of one, mother of three human children and two canine children. I’m addicted to makeup (eyeshadows and lip glosses are my particular vice). I’m in constant search of the best anti-wrinkle cream on the market. I write historical romance, paranormal romance, contemporary romance and romantic suspense. I don’t think there’s a romance genre I haven’t tried but my first love is historical romance.
MBA&M: What are 5 fun facts about Sharon Cullen readers may not know about yourself? Hmmm. That’s a trick question because I could get myself in trouble if I don’t watch myself. I worked in the amusement park business for 18 years. It’s a great way to spend your high school and college summers and I made some of my bestest friends there. People I’m still in contact with today. I hate heights. I see people zip lining and it makes me want to pass out. I don’t like walking on grates because I’m afraid they’re going to fall through when I step on it. My favorite place in the world is on a beach. Any beach.
MBA&M: Why do you enjoy writing historical romance and what do you feel the allure of historical romance is to readers today? I love, love, love writing historical romance because it’s such a romantic time. I love the gowns, the social etiquette. I love that there are no cell phones or iPods. I think readers like it because it takes them back to a place where chivalry was alive and well.
MBA&M:  GIve our readers some insight into the research required to write an authentic historical romance? When I first start writing a new book, I research the historical time period I’m considering. For instance Lady Anne is about pirates so it had to take place during the golden age of piracy. However, I knew I wanted Lady Anne to be a series and I had somewhat of an idea of what the next book was going to be about and when it was going to happen so there was a fine balance of when it took place. When I’ve narrowed the time frame down, then I start researching the political climate of that era. Who was at war with who? What were the big, political issues of the day? What were the citizens of that country worrying about? As I’m researching all of this, my characters slowly take shape in my head. As I’m writing the book there’s more specific research that I get into.
MBA&M:  Where did you draw your inspiration from in writing “The Notorious Lady Anne”? I’ve always been fascinated by pirates and years ago my husband (who is an avid reader) put a book in my hand called Under the Black Flag. It’s the most comprehensive book I’ve read about pirates and pirating. I was hooked. It’s not the romantic profession that the movies portray it to be. What I like about it, is that each ship it’s like it’s own little country. Piracy, believe it or not, is a democracy. Everyone gets a vote. Now the vote can be vetoed by the captain, but he (she) knows that to go against the majority could result in mutiny. Piracy was also a very lucrative career. Everything, down to the last shilling, was doled out and each pirate knew the exact amount they would get after each attack.
MBA&M: Which character in “The Notorious Lady Anne” was your favorite to write about and why? Lady Anne. She has so many layers. On the outside you see a rough woman pirate, hardened by the life she led both before and after she took up pirating. But underneath she’s like any other woman. She wants to find that one true love. She wants to settle down. She wants to feel loved.
MBA&M: 2013 is a new year, what do you hope to accomplish this year in your writing career and personally? 2013 is going to be a great year! Lady Anne releases and later in the year the second book, The Infamous Lord Blythe will release. I don’t have an exact date yet for Lord Blythe but I’m hoping sometime mid-year. I have two more ideas for this series that I’m hoping Loveswept will want to acquire.
MBA&M: Who are the authors you feel influenced your writing? Sharon Sala was a huge inspiration. When I first started writing twelve years ago I wanted to write stories like hers–packed with emotion. I wanted the emotion of the characters to drive the story forward. Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series hooked me on historical romance.
MBA&M: If you could be a character in a novel,(any book, past or present) who would it be and why? This doesn’t even have anything to do with romance, but I would love to be Myron Bolitar’s secretary. Myron is the lead character in many of Harlan Coben’s books. I think it would so much fun to work for him.

Thank you,Sharon for visiting with us and our readers today.

Now, please tell our readers where to connect to Sharon Cullen, and where they can purchase a copy of “The Notorious Lady Anne”?

We hope you have enjoyed our guest today and will spread the word!

As always, thanks for visiting with us and our guest today!!

MBA&M: Wendy, please tell our readers a few tidbits about yourself?

WW: My brother, sister and I were born and raised in the North Island of New Zealand by

English immigrant parents, which makes me a first generation Kiwi. I was lucky enough to have a childhood filled with love and laughter, surrounded by adults who were willing to give me their time and answer the thousands of questions that I fired at them constantly.

I have been married for 28 yrs to a wonderful man who puts up with a great deal of angst from me and our two children, Soph 25yrs and my son Nate 22yrs.

My writing habits are a bit different than most as I write in the lounge in the evenings, on my lap top, headphones on listing to rock music while my family watch T.V. around me. It works because we’re all together and if they want my attention they just throw something at me!

I am a hopeless romantic who cannot watch a movie unless it has a happy ending. My favorite at the moment is Persuasion (2007 version) by Jane Austen.

I’m not overly fussy where food is concerned and pretty much love everything as long as there’s lots of it. However after an illness I was tested and found to be a Celiac, which means I can’t eat donuts and chocolate brownie which I’m still struggling to recover from. My favorite meal is a bbq after a long summer’s day, especially if I can enjoy it with friends and family.

I am a cyclist, avid watcher of rugby and love a good joke. My favorite time of year is Christmas when my husband says I morph into a crazed Christmas Fairy with maniacal tendencies

MBA&M: If you had to state something about “THE RELUCTANT COUNTESS” that would most appeal to your readers what would it be?

WW: My hero and heroine are born into two different worlds yet through a set of circumstances they find each other and I think there’s something pretty neat about fighting the odds and finding true love as a result.

MBA&M: Where did the idea of “THE RELUCTANT COUNTESS” come from?

WW: I was actually given the idea for the beginning of the book in a competition I was going to enter and the book evolved from there. Strangely, I never entered the competition.

MBA&M: Which character in THE “RELUCTANT COUNTESS” stands out the most to you and why?

WW: I think my hero Patrick is my favorite character. He’s so determined to think the worst of Sophie my heroine right from the opening page. He’s rude, arrogant and actually really vulnerable deep down inside. He can’t help himself from lusting after her even though he knows she’s all wrong for him. It was interesting to write about how he tried to fight his feelings and then how he totally capitulates when he realizes she’s not the woman he had first thought her to be.

MBA&M: Name a secondary character or two in “THE RELUCTANT COUNTESS” and tell our readers a little about them. We understand the main characters are usually discussed, but the secondary characters help to carry the story along?

WW: Lord Stephen Sumner is Patrick’s best friend. Their families estates are close together and both were raised to be head of their family’s, but that is where the similarities stop. Stephen is loud, loves life and has a wicked sense of humor that irritates the hell out of Patrick. He is possibly the only person who is not awed by Patrick and in fact challenges him on every level. It is Stephen who realizes how Patrick feels for Sophie first.

Amelia Pette becomes Sophie’s friend. She lives with her mother who is harsh and critical, yet Amelia has always managed to keep her humor intact. She clashes with Stephen and shares Sophie’s love of dolls, but more importantly as Sophie’s character grows in “THE RELUCTANT COUNTESS” so does Amelia’s. She finds the courage to stand up to her mother and in the end she too gets her man.

MBA&M: What scene in “THE RELUCTANT COUNTESS” was your favorite in writing and which was your hardest to write?

WW: The first scene was fun to write because it really set the feel for the book. You meet the two main characters immediately which is not always possible to do and you are plunged straight into the conflict.

The hardest scene to write was the scene where Sophie gets injured and Patrick is the one who must tend her with help from Stephen. It’s hard to portray that kind of desperation and emotion on the page without overdoing things. I think by then I was pretty emotionally involved too so I wanted it to make as real as I could.

MBA&M: If you were not writing, what would you being doing? Thanks, by the way for writing.

WW: Your welcome and thanks so much for having me here on your fabulous blog.

That’s a tough question because writing has always been in my blood. I did think about becoming a teacher once but I’m not sure I’d have the patience for that. I love music but again I’m not terribly musical and have had two aborted attempts at learning the guitar until finally my family hid it from me. I must admit to being a bit of a dreamer so I’m sure if I didn’t write I’d do something along the lines of writing the words in greeting cards or advertising of some kind.

MBA&M: Who do you feel most influenced your writing and why?

WW: I would have to say that as far as other writers go Eloisa James, Lisa Kleypas and Julia Quinn have influenced me most. I love there style of writing and the worlds they build, their humor and intrigue and the wonderfully descriptive way each of them write. They have such colorful characters and all three are savvy women. Of course I could name many more but these three are favorites of mine.

Romance Writers of New Zealand is probably responsible for me becoming published however. After becoming a member I started entering competitions and that is where I honed my skills. Feedback is essential or how do you know if what you are writing is any good? RWNZ made me get over my fear of letting people read my work and helped me to get to the point where my novel was ready to be put before an editor or agent. These organizations are invaluable as are the knowledgeable people who belong to them.

MBA&M: Who do you feel your writing style most resembles?

WW: My editor thinks I most resemble Mary Balogh, Julia Quinn or Sabrina Jeffries and to be honest I would find it hard to put myself in such exalted company but maybe given time and a few more books I may reach those heights.

MBA&M: What do you hope to accomplish in your lifetime, you have not already done?

WW: I would one day love to be on the New York Times best seller list and there are a few awards I would like to be nominated for, but I’ve got several books to write before achieving these heights.

I have a few travel destinations I want to visit like Pompeii and Eilean Donan Castle, Loch Duich in the Scottish Highlands.

I’m really looking forward to cuddling my grandchildren too!

Although Sophie has every reason to avoid him, the handsome and charismatic Patrick awakens something wicked deep within her soul . . . a powerful need that Sophie must stifle in order to protect her place in society.
