After eighteen-year-old Carrie Jacobson discovers she was a witch in a previous life, she seeks to reawaken that part of her soul. With the help of an eccentric enchantress and a boy who is more than he seems, Carrie succeeds and is spellbound by the memories of her life in Europe during the 1600s as a powerful witch named Isadora. Carrie reverts to her bewitching, more volatile form and sets out to break a curse she cast long ago on her coven.

Carrie’s boyfriend Tree cannot help feeling uneasy about the changes he sees in the woman he loves. When Carrie’s past clashes with the present and dark magic intoxicates her once again, Tree must take drastic matters into his own hands and attempt to save Carrie from herself.
With Tree’s help, will Carrie be able to resist the allure of her new powers? Or will she plunge into the deep end and give into them?
Note to readers
Tangled Roots can be read as a standalone novel. I wrote it for the fans of the Beyond the Eyes trilogy because a lot of them are fond of Carrie and Tree, who are the two main characters in this tale. Besides, their story adds to the trilogy, where it’ll take you deeper into the rabbit hole.
Enjoy!

ENCOUNTER — Cherime MacFarlane
She never picks berries in the patch behind the cabin. That place almost makes her skin crawl. The old cabin has been in her family for generations. There is a mystery about the place the elders never said much about. All she knows it that a young couple living there vanished without a trace.

Nicholas comes up behind me. His breath on my neck sending chills through my body, causing my breasts to perk instantly. He gently runs his hands from my shoulders down to my panties, which is all I have left on, kissing my neck as he goes.

He leaves a trail of kisses down my back and on my ass as he guides my panties to the floor. His hands explore familiar territory; as one cups my left breast, massaging it, and tugging lightly on the nipple, the right hand is busy kneading my sex and running his hand back and forth through my folds.

Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s To Desire a Highlander: Release Day and Giveaway

Welfonder_To Desire a Highlander_MM[1][1]About TO DESIRE A HIGHLANDER
AN UNWILLING BRIDE
Proud, passionate Lady Gillian MacGuire is known as the Spitfire of the Isles. She can take care of herself and hasn’t yet met a man who could impress her . . . especially not Donell MacDonnell, the man she was promised to five years ago. She’s been dreading his return, but when her intended comes back to claim her, she’s stunned at how different he seems. The man she swore she would spurn forever now invades her thoughts, her dreams, and her heart.AN UNEXPECTED DESIRE
When Roag agrees to assume the identity of the recently deceased MacDonnell chieftain, no one warns him that the man was betrothed. As a member of the King’s Fenris Guard, he is oath-bound to embark on whatever mission the crown gives him. Of course, he was expecting a battle-not a bride. Yet after sharing one kiss with Lady Gillian, the powerful Highlander becomes the one seduced and captivated. Now giving in to temptation could ruin them both.
Sue-Ellen_Welfonder[1][1]About the Author

SueEllen Welfonder is a Scotophile whose burning wish to make frequent trips to the land of her dreams led her to a twenty-year career with the airlines.

Now a full-time writer, she’s quick to admit that she much prefers wielding a pen to pushing tea and coffee. She makes annual visits to Scotland, insisting they are a necessity, as each trip gives her inspiration for new books.

Proud of her own Hebridean ancestry, she belongs to two clan societies: the MacFie Clan Society and the Clan MacAlpine Society. In addition to Scotland, her greatest passions are medieval history, the paranormal, and dogs. She never watches television, loves haggis, and writes at a 450-year-old desk that once stood in a Bavarian castle.

SueEllen is married and currently resides with her husband and Jack Russell terrier in Florida.

Q&A Time

Q:  How many books will be in this new series?

SEW:  Once Upon a Highland Christmas (novella), To Love a

Highlander, and To Desire a Highlander.

Q:  How do you spend your spare time?

SEW:  I love animals and nature, and enjoy getting out in the

natural world as often as possible.  Doing so clears my mind and

relieves stress.  So I take daily walks, cycle often, and make sure

every day includes ‘nature breaks.’  I’m an Audubon Society

volunteer and really love ‘giving back’ to nature by helping the

local shorebirds.  A lot of my time this spring and summer was

devoted to monitoring and helping to safeguard a colony of

protected seabirds through their mating, nesting, and hatching

season. I enjoy reading and am a total yoga enthusiast, practicing

daily.  I also spend plenty of quality time with my ex-feral cat,

Snuggles.

Q:  How does the use of Scottish mythology, Folklore and legends

come to fruition in your tales?

SEW:  Scotland, like all Celtic lands, is rich in legend, lore, and

myth.  The medieval period, in particular, was a time when folk

really did believe in magical stones, sacred wells, mythical beasts,

the evil eye, miracle cures, ghosts, and all manner of other

fantastical things.  Toss in the Norse influence, and you have a

whole new layer of wondrous elements.  Yes, there was

Christianity, but scratch the surface, and the trust in the old ways

was there, rampant and alive.

To this day, it is hard to find a stone in Scotland that doesn’t have a

history – some amazing tale attached to it.  For a writer already in

love with the land and people, this cultural heritage is a great well-

spring of story ideas.  Along with the atmospheric settings I give

my books, I love weaving mystical threads into each story.  I see

them (along with the setting) as the ‘stage and foundation’ of my

books.  Take that away, leaving only dialogue and ‘action,’ the

words are only ink on the page, lacking heart, soul, and the

richness and depth I believe should go into a Scottish medieval

romance.

So this is a very important part of my writing.  To leave it out

would be (to me) to ignore a very colorful and fascinating part of

Scotland’s past.

Q:  Who was the author who was most influential in your writing

career?

SEW:  Becky Lee Weyrich, the Time Travel Queen of the 80s.

She was a personal friend, and back in my flying days, I’d send her

long letters detailing my travel adventures in far-flung corners of

the globe.  She would tell me that reading my letters made her feel

as if she’d been along with me during my trips.  Eventually she

also told me she felt I should be writing books.  I wasn’t interested

at all – flying was my dream job and I loved being a stewardess.

But Becky kept after me and I finally caved and wrote a book.  I

did so, more or less, to get Becky to stop bugging me.  When Devil

in a Kilt sold, I was astonished.  And so I sort of slid into a career I

never really sought.

Q)  What genre do you read for pleasure?

SEW:  Lots, but to choose a fiction fave: cozy mysteries.

Let’s play a Game…

Fruit? Apple, grapes or orange

SEW:  Apple  (eat at least one daily)

Reading? Fiction or non-fiction

SEW:  Non-fiction (if I have to choose, I LOVE research books)

Movie? Braveheart or Highlander

SEW:  Braveheart (though the inaccuracies drive me nuts)

Snacks? Popcorn  or chips

SEW:  Chips  (I am a potato zealot)

Chocolate?  Light or dark

SEW:  Light (milk chocolate)

Where do you see yourself in 10years?

SEW:   Hopefully in a place of less stress and worry – the last few

years have been difficult.  I would love to do more volunteer work

– for needy animals and nature/the environment.

Anything you’d like our readers to know about this book that might

surprise them?

SEW:  This book is a milestone book for me on many levels.  A

personal one is that it is the first book I have completed without

my beloved Jack Russell terrier, Em, sharing my desk chair.  He

was my constant companion throughout the writing of all my

books, but I lost him during the writing of this one.  He was my

muse – he’d either curl on my lap, or sprawl across the chair seat

behind me, pushing at me with his little legs until I’d be perched

on less than an inch of the chair.  I would keep on writing, not

having the heart to disturb him as he snored away behind me.  I am

still grieving his loss.

Thank you Sue-Ellen for being our guest today. For those who know me, (WendyK), they know that I simply adore Scottish romances (historical or contemporary), but what you might not know is that I’ve read Sue-Ellen since that first book, DEVIL IN A KILT. The world of publishing is changing and has changed a lot from Sue-Ellen’s first book, but I can always count on Sue-Ellen to give me many hours of joy, time away from the reality of life, characters I’ll adore and stories I’ll fall in love with. If you are new to Sue-Ellen, I suggest you be prepared once you find her books you’ll want them all! If you are an old friend who like me has read them all, then sit back and enjoy. Either way there’s a treat to be had.
Thank you again Sue-Ellen for being our guest today! We are honored to have you here and to count you among our Friends.

Never Loved
Dark Obsession # 1
By: Charlotte Stein
Releasing July 21st, 2015
Loveswept
Blurb
Perfect for fans of Abbi Glines, the first novel in the Dark Obsession series tells the story of a beautiful wallflower who falls for a chiseled street fighter—and learns just how dangerous love can be.

Beatrix Becker spent most of her life under the thumb of her controlling, abusive father. And now that she’s free and attending her dream college, she has no idea how to act like the normal crowd: partying, going on dates, even having a conversation. Then she meets Serge Sorensen. Big and surly with a whole host of riotous tattoos, Serge is supposed to scare the hell out of her. But beneath his harsh exterior, Beatrix discovers a kindred spirit who knows what it’s like to be a misfit. Most exhilarating—and terrifying—is what he does for a living: illegal street fighting.

There’s nothing like the rush Serge gets from the intense athleticism and brutal glory of combat—though his chemistry with Beatrix comes close. Slowly at first, he introduces her to his world, where he lives by instinct, passion, and desire. He even helps her out with her equally traumatized brother. But when Serge gets in too deep with the wrong people, he ends up paying in blood. And suddenly, just as Beatrix has been drawn into Serge’s perfectly sculpted arms, she’s thrown once and for all into the fight of his life.

Excerpt #1
I know they are the ones I have to speak to. I recognize the guy with the tattoo of a hammer on his biceps, and some of the others look familiar from that bar on Maple Street. I’m pretty sure that’s the guy who pointed Tommy out to me, yet still I hesitate. Of course I hesitate.
They look like such an insane rabble. As I watch through the windscreen of my car, three of them start fighting. One of them pushes another one; the third guy grabs the first by his dirty tank top. Harsh words are exchanged, so fierce and forceful I can almost make out the spittle flying.
Then suddenly there’s a knife. I see its edge gleam in the bright sunlight, about a second before something red appears across the chest of the guy who started it. Blood, I think dizzily. That’s blood. He’s bleeding all over his own T-shirt, and though it isn’t anywhere close to a mortal wound, it doesn’t encourage me to get out of the car.
Nor does the way the fight ends. The one with the knife goes to slash at the other guy again, and I’m just about to cover my eyes with my hand when this enormous man comes out of nowhere. He lashes out with a hand like a shovel, and somehow the knife is on the ground. The brawling men are scattering, as though they were never there at all.
And I understand why.
The big one is pretty terrifying. And obviously everyone else thinks so, too, because they part like butter under a knife before him. He goes back to his bike without anyone so much as brushing his arms, and once there he sits down in a way that gets my attention in a fucking chokehold. I mean, he had it before, but watching the machine balk beneath his weight is something else. It actually seems to sag. I can almost hear its sound of protest.
God knows how he rides the thing. God knows about anything going on here. I try to make a list in my head of all the shenanigans that might be ensuing, but all I can come up with is drug ring. And I’ve got to be honest—I don’t think drug ring is a real thing. It sounds like something my father would have ranted about whenever I asked if I could go anywhere, or do anything, or be out past five in the afternoon.
The drug ring will get you, I think, which would probably be funny if I couldn’t feel his ghost pressing down on my shoulders at the same time. Or if I understood any of this on any level whatsoever. I mean, even if they’re not dealing meth to kids, or about to snatch me and put me in a van, a ton of this stuff is disturbing.
For a start:
Why are they all congregating outside an abandoned convenience store? It’s not even a nice one, with those signs people like to collect and stick up on their walls, or some remnant of civilization still hanging around. It’s an ugly rotten tooth of a place, striped all over with rust streaks and half sagging in the middle.
Yet here they are, milling around in this big odd jumble. Some of them have bikes; some of them have battered cars. Some are dressed in leather and denim; others wander around in mismatched tracksuits. In a couple of cases I spy business-wear, as though the wearers came straight here from an early-morning meeting. This is secretly the abandoned-convenience-store branch of GE, and in a second they’re all going to start funneling funds through accounts in the Caymans.
Or maybe I just hope that’s the case, because now I have to get out of the car.
I have to if I want to find my brother, yet somehow I’m still not doing it. Instead I take out my phone and call the only person who might be able to help me, even if I suspect she won’t be able to help me at all. When I left our dorm room, she was trying to decide if scarves are in or out now, which seems pretty far from this.
I’m not even sure if I should say. But I do anyway.
“Do you know anything about gangs that hang around outside convenience stores?” I ask, bracing myself for all kinds of answers. One time I tried to tell her about my brother and his problems, and she suggested I change my name so I won’t be bothered anymore.
Of course, I couldn’t explain to her why that was ridiculous. Whenever I try, I start doing something silly, like crying uncontrollably. I get this urge to start spilling all my secrets, and most of them barely make any sense. Sometimes I look back on them, and it almost seems as if they happened to another person—one who never had to hide a magazine with a man’s naked chest on it under her mattress, or push every clock in the house back by two minutes so Tommy would be home on time, or fear enclosed spaces in case the next time we never get let out at all.
Those things were just a dream.
This is the reality, where I am a cool and very normal—if slightly older than most freshman—college girl.
Or at least, I will be one soon. All I have to do is get through this latest disaster, and onward to the other side. On the other side is the possibility of being a proper person, a person who is successful at doing the things that everyone else does. I could be more interested in parties and hairstyles and dating, to the point where Sam might actually approve and maybe even remember me.

Here’s the link to a video in which Susan chats about Ford Hendrix of THREE LITTLE WORDS

When I was younger, I had a deep and abiding love for a celebrity who shall remain nameless. I wasn’t the kind of girl to hang his picture in my locker or cover my room with his posters – ours was a private love. I grew up in LA, and my dad worked in TV, so I was convinced that my one true love and I would one day meet. And when we did, I didn’t want him to think that I was like the millions of silly girls who had a crush on him. They didn’t know him. I did. My love was real, and as soon as we met, he would recognize me as his soulmate.

Back then, I didn’t tell anyone how I felt because our love was sacred. Today, I still won’t confess his name because, frankly, I’m embarrassed. What was I thinking?! He wasn’t very smart, only marginally cute, and he ran like a girl. (There’s your one hint – he was on a TV show that required running. And he had dark hair. Two hints, but that’s it.)

In THREE LITTLE WORDS, my latest Fool’s Gold romance, Isabel Beebe knows all about embarrassing crushes, though hers wasn’t on a celebrity. When Isabel was 14, she had a crush on Ford Hendrix, her sister’s then-fiancé. Worse, Ford knew how she felt because when her sister broke up with him, Isabel chased after him, sobbing, begging him not to leave. And when he joined the Navy, she wrote him dozens of long, impassioned letters.

Over the years, her letters became less like teenage love letters and more like a “Dear Diary” kind of thing, but that brings its own special twist of humiliation. Because now Ford is back in Fool’s Gold to open a bodyguard-training facility, and this dangerously sexy ex-Navy SEAL knows all her most embarrassing secrets. He knows about her first kiss. He knows when she lost her virginity and where (*cough* inthebackofatruck *cough*).

All summer, Isabel has been ducking around corners to hide from Ford, but as THREE LITTLE WORDS begins, she’s decided that enough is enough. Fool’s Gold is too small for her to avoid him forever, especially since he just rented the place next door.
