Imperfect Lords series book 1 – sexy, swashbuckling novel
A lovestruck lady charms the duke of her dreams during an expedition on the high seas in this sexy, swashbuckling novel from USA Today bestselling author Bronwen Evans.
Alexander Sylvester Bracken, Duke of Bedford, has a mission: sail to the Mediterranean and track down Lady Hestia Cary’s missing father. It is a straightforward task, but for two rather vexing complications. First, the sea holds painful memories; second, for her own safety, Hestia is to accompany him. As Alex battles the demons of his past, he must also resist Hestia’s surprisingly skillful attempts at seduction. After all, Alex has sworn to leave her untouched, and he intends to honor that vow—until he can properly ask the Earl’s blessing.
Ever since His Grace rescued Hestia from the arms of a Turkish pirate six long years ago, her heart has belonged to Alex. So when he agrees to help find her father, Hestia is thrilled. Although Alex tries to hide it, there’s passion in his eyes—and a frisson of desire in the air—whenever they meet. On board ship, miles from home, Alex won’t be able to deny her any longer. But with scoundrels lying in wait, she may not live to tell the tale of her conquest.
I think you wrote a brilliantly and masterfully work of romance! Such feelings and emotions shown throughout this powerful and compelling story are hard to convey to readers. But you managed it beautifully. Very impressive! P.S. I read this in one day. I couldn’t put it down. I was glued to the pages of Alex and Hestia’s story, from the first page to the last. – AprilR

About the author…..
USA Today Bestselling author, Bronwen Evans (Bron), loves story-telling – gobbling up movies, reading books and attending the theater. Her head is always filled with characters and stories, particularly lovers in angst. Is it any wonder she’s a proud romance writer.
Bronwen attended Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand earning a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Administration, majoring in Marketing and Accounting. She was all set on building herself a business career (which she did along the way).
But life never turns out exactly as one thinks. After working for a few years in marketing roles within New Zealand financial institutions, she left for a 6 month overseas experience in London, England. She loved England. She spent several years living in London, using it as a base to be able to work and travel from. She visited all four corners of the world. Her most interesting trips were a camel safari in the Sahara, a trip through Russia, a safari through Africa with her mother, and three months in the Mediterranean.
It was while living and working in London she discovered the offices of Mills & Boon and the germ of an idea to embark on a romance writing career was born.
Almost eight years later, on her return to New Zealand, encouraged by a close friend battling a life-threatening illness, Bronwen finally started down the path to publication by joining RWA, The Beau Monde, RWAustralia and RWNZ.
Bronwen’s first manuscript, INVITATION TO RUIN, was completed late 2009, and was sold to Kensington Publishing early 2010, in a two book deal. Her debut novel, INVITATION TO RUIN, received a 4.5 star rating from RT Book Reviews and was nominated in the RT Reviewer’s Choice Awards – Best First Historical. Invitation to Ruin was also won the RomCon Readers Crown Best Historical 2012.
Bron’s since gone on to win the RomCon Readers Crown three times. Her first book in her Disgraced Lords series hit the USA Today bestsellers list and she has hit it several times since.
She lives in New Zealand in sunny Hawkes Bay with her two Cavoodles named Brandy and Duke.

Avery Dare lives a quiet life in Miami as an online fashion/makeup video blogger. She has good friends, a close, large family and if her love life is lacking, she likes it that way. But when she receives an invitation to one of her ex’s concerts along with an invitation to meet him back stage, she decides to take the risk… and comes face to face with the reality of his rock star lifestyle – the press, the crowds, and the half-naked groupies.
At eighteen, Grey Kingston left everything he knew and loved behind to seek fame and fortune as a rock star, and he found it as the lead guitarist and singer for the band, Tangled Royal. Fans adore him, women throw themselves at him, and he can afford everything he couldn’t growing up. Except moving on isn’t as easy as Grey would like. When Avery is threatened by a stalker, it becomes evident Grey’s fans not only don’t want him to retire, they don’t want Avery in his life either. After a successful fifteen year career with various New York publishing houses, and over 40 sexy contemporary romance novels published, N.Y. Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carly Phillips is now an Indie author who writes to her own expectations and that of her readers. She continues the tradition of hot men and strong women and plans to publish many more sizzling stories. Carly lives in Purchase, NY with her family, two nearly adult daughters and two crazy dogs who star on her Facebook Fan Page and website. She’s a writer, a knitter of sorts, a wife, and a mom. In addition, she’s a Twitter and Internet junkie and is always around to interact with her readers.
Sweat poured off Grey Kingston’s body, and his heart beat a too-rapid rhythm, the high and adrenaline rush from his performance still pulsing through his veins as he walked into the lounge backstage. He pulled off his soaked shirt and tossed it onto the floor, grateful for the stocked room and waiting pile of towels. He grabbed one and dried his face and hair, deliberately trying to slow his breathing.
The sound of Tangled Royal fans stomping their feet and demanding an encore echoed through the walls, but the band had performed their final set. Even as his pulse still soared.
He glanced toward the door. “Did she pick up the ticket?” Grey asked Simon Colson, their manager, who was busy texting on his phone.
“What? Who?” Simon, ever the well-dressed Brit, shoved his phone into his trouser pocket. No jeans for him. “Good show,” he said to Grey and the rest of the band, ignoring Grey’s question.
Lola Corbin, their lead singer and Grey’s best friend, was still bouncing in her heels, not yet coming down from their shared high either. “We did rock it,” she said, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder.
Milo Davis, their bassist, grunted something and fell into a chair in the corner. Grey narrowed his gaze. Milo barely had the energy for a full concert these days, and that worried him.
But right now Grey had bigger concerns and turned to Simon. “I asked you if Avery Dare picked up the VIP tickets I told you to leave at the box office.”
Simon shrugged. “I couldn’t tell you.”
Grey scowled at his manager’s I don’t give a shit tone. More and more lately, Simon’s lack of consideration about what the band members wanted grated on Grey’s nerves. Lola might be considering using him for her solo career, but anything Grey did going forward wouldn’t be with the man.
At least he’d indicated he had left the tickets. He’d be out of a job if he screwed with Grey on this. “Fucking find out.”
“What’s so special about this piece of ass?” Simon barely got the words out because Grey grabbed him by his collared shirt and pinned him up against the wall.
“Talk about her like that again and you’re done.”
“Whoa.” Lola put her petite body between them, pushing Grey away from their manager. “Everyone breathe,” she muttered. “You. Go take a walk and calm down before your company shows up,” she ordered Grey.
He stormed off, missing whatever lecture she gave to Simon next.
Though the man had done his job well, helping maneuver Tangled Royal to the elusive top of the charts, he cared about the bottom line and not much else. Especially not the fact that Tangled Royal was more than a band, people with real feelings, issues, and lives. No wonder Simon didn’t believe how serious both Grey and Lola were about changing their futures.
Danny Bills, their drummer, already had a wife and two daughters who lived in L.A. He was ready for home time, and everyone knew it. Milo was another story. If he didn’t stop the drugs, he wouldn’t have a future.
As for Grey, he hoped for more than the travel and fame that had been so important to him way back when. He hoped for her.
His eyes flickered to the door. No sign of Avery. He tipped his head back, wondering if she’d come backstage or ignore the invitation … and him. His stomach gripped painfully at the thought of not seeing her again. She was the one person who not only understood the loner musician he’d been as a teen but who’d grounded him when he’d threatened to spiral. With her soft voice, that thick mane of dark hair, and those lavender-like eyes, she’d burrowed someplace deep inside him. Still, she hadn’t been enough to hold him, not when fame, fortune, and the need to be something more lived within him.
But it was Avery whose face he saw in the nameless women he’d fucked over the years. Avery whose belief in him kept him going when times were hard. Funny how that worked. He wondered if she’d thought of him over the years and if she was as hyped up about possibly seeing him again now.

Natasha’s heroines are not perfect ladies. They are wildflowers and wallflowers who flirt with the forbidden. Whether they are bold or shy, these heroines’ strong desires and deep emotions drive the plot and drive their heroes to the point of no return. Natasha’s heroes are strong and dominant and live their lives with strength and purpose. They support their women in everything.

THE DELICATE MATTER OF LADY BLAYNE by Natasha Blackthorne is another wickedly delightful Erotic Historical Romance. #1 in the new and amazing “Intimate Secrets”. What a beginning!
Fast paced with light sexual abuse in the Lady Blayne’s past, sensual domination, spanking, light bondage, inner conflict, sensuality, passion, Rubenesque, angst, scandal, romance and yes, love.
Catriona, Lady Blayne, has been through it all, scandal, hurt, abuse, lost, grief, and angst.
James, the new Lord Blayne, and cousin to Catriona’s late husband, is simply intriguing, hot, sexy as heck, strong, determined, and full of naughtiness. He is determined to help Lady Blayne find her passion, heal, forgive herself and those who hurt her in the past to find her HEA.
While this story, is an amazing Erotic, Ms. Blackthorne has once again, written a tale that is beautifully written, not just about sex, and domination, but a tale about a young woman’s sexual abuse, the angst and grief that follows and her desire to overcome her hurts to find true love.
Ms. Blackthorne is an amazing storyteller, one who isn’t afraid to write tales of the tough issues in life, afterall, that is real life. Life is not all roses, and fairytales. Readers: you will need tissues, I did, anyway. Catriona’s story was tough to read at times, but a necessity, her courage and willingness to survive was amazing. The characters are powerful, compelling, endearing, realistic and lovable, well some of them. The storyline was simply fantastic, intriguing and naughty. I loved this story, the characters and yes, the storyline. Fans of Erotic Regency, bondage, Historical Romance will delight in the newest addition to Ms. Blackthorne’s writing career. I’ve lived most of my life on islands off the the west coast of Canada, surrounded by snow covered mountains, lush rain forests and pristine beaches. While I enjoy traveling, I’m most at home on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
In my twenties I wanted to become a writer, but being practical I chose a career in teaching. I loved working with children for many years.
Time flew by, but the writing itch stayed with me, as much a part of me as my skin. My family has grown up and I’m retired. Now I spend my days spinning sexy, suspense stories edged with adventure.
Hi everyone and thanks to April for letting me stop by today. The last couple of weeks have been so very exciting for me as I had a new book out June 24, the last in my Pleasure Wars series, Beautiful Distraction. And if that wasn’t enough TODAY my new series launched with the release of A Matter of Sin (The Ladies Book of Pleasures 1). Add to that we just got new flooring through our whole house. So pretty much I’ve been a tiny bit crazed for the last month.
A writer’s life is like that. Or maybe it’s just mine. So when April suggested maybe I write a little about a day in my life, I laughed a little, I might have cried a tiny bit and then I decided, what the heck. So I present to you a little view into my day to day life. Please don’t run screaming from the room when I’m done.
My day really depends a great deal on whether I’m currently writing or not. When I am, I get up around 7-8 am. I try to eat breakfast every day and we’re paleo, so that usually involves making something. But that’s okay, it gives me a chance to wake up and watch a little news. Once breakfast is over, I head to my office. I tend to answer email and maybe do a little marketing before I write. I have a page goal each day so that I meet my deadlines and I’ll generally work on that until my goal is met. That can be anything from an hour and a half to three or four hours, depending on how hard the writing is that day. But normally it’s a couple hours of solid writing work punctuated by occasional spot research and email.
By that time it’s nearly lunch, so I’ll do more email and then eat. My husband also works at home. He’s my assistant and also runs a site for authors, so we’ll make food and eat together or go out to eat. This is usually when I do tidying up around the house, too. Once I’m done I lock down for marketing. Now the cool thing about marketing is that a lot of it is kind of fun. I love doing Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, blogging, Pinterest and the like. But wow, there is a lot of it. I’ll usually spend three or more hours during this period working on those things. A blog like this one can take half an hour to an hour, so it really depends on what is on my plate. Today, for example I had 14 things on my daily to do list that were marketing related, plus 5 chapters of a book to edit. One of those things was “write blogs” and I had three of those to do.
Once I’ve done some of that marketing, I will take a break, clean up some more, check the mail, make dinner (or go out) and then the fun part comes. I go back to work. Sometimes that means going back to write some more or to edit or to market. Sometimes all three if I have a lot going on (like when I was prepping this blog).
Is it a lot of work? Yes, indeed it is. Sometimes I’m tired. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and have a serious cry. But it’s just what I need to do because writing and publishing and getting books sold is my number one priority. And it’s still, even on its worst day, the best job in the world. The fact that I can make my living doing what I love and maybe even touch some readers along the way is all worth it!
Plus, I also try to take breaks. This year my husband and I aren’t travelling for fun, but next year we’ll go to Paris for the last stage of the Tour de France, we play video games together or go for walks or the gym. I see my adorable nephews at least once a week and I play HARD. So it’s a tradeoff. I work for myself and that is awesome. But God, my boss is tough.
So that’s it. I hope you’ll check out my books. A Matter of Sin starts a new series, so it’s a great place to start if you’re a new-to-me reader! Plus, you pay my bills and make the work all worthwhile.
What a privilege to have you with us and our readers today!

The Ladies Book of Pleasures, Book 1
The widowed Lady Isabel Avenbury has one remaining younger sister to shepherd into an advantageous marriage, and then she will be free. Free to take a lover to fill her lonely nights—the only option left for a woman on the delicate edge of a certain age.
Except when she chaperones her sister to a country house party, she is taken aback by her sudden, undeniable attraction to the host. And deliciously scandalized when she finds a copy of the notorious, much-gossiped-about Ladies Book of Pleasures in his library.
When Seth Rowland, Marquis Lyndham, notices his book is missing, his interest is piqued as to which of the potential young brides at his party has absconded with it—and he’s shocked to discover it’s Isabel. Though older than the women he’d planned to court, the powerful beauty exudes a sensuality he cannot ignore.
The book inspires them to begin a desperate, passionate affair. But their time together is running out and they must choose. Follow society’s rules, or take a chance at love.
Warning: Found within are highly scandalous books that trigger passionate desires, surrender in the orangery and possibly true love.
It has been a particularly trying day for Olivia Cranfield. Despite her impeccable manners, stylish clothing and posh accent, another protector has detected her lowborn status and rejected her out of hand.
When fellow courtesan Violet invites her to come to Bath to help with the wicked seduction of the scarred, reclusive Earl of Windbury, Olivia jumps at the offer, eager for some excitement and a change of scenery.
The moment Malcolm Graham lays eyes on the delectable woman lurking in the bathhouse alley, he knows she’s a decoy to keep him busy while her friend seduces the earl inside. For a moment, he allows her to play her game…but one touch, and all he can think about is ending the two years of self-denial he’s endured in the name of friendship.
Instant attraction quickly turns into a decidedly erotic affair that makes Olivia question all she’s ever known about passion. But when the truth behind Violet’s assignment comes to light, betrayal threatens to bring everything they’ve built crashing down around Olivia’s broken heart.
Warning: This book overlaps with Beauty and the Earl, so some passages may seem familiar to readers of both. Contains a lady lying for a good cause, a gentleman as loyal to his friends as he is passionate in the bedchamber, and a steamy affair that will change them both forever.

MBA&M: Please give our readers some insight into the mind of Sara Danvers.
Singer-songwriter Fiona Apple released a song recently that resonated with me. In the song “Valentine,” she states:
I’m a tulip in a cup
I stand no chance of growing up
That sounds about right. I may be 30, but my daily environment is all teens all the time. I teach them, most of my long conversations are with them, and I constantly read fiction aimed at their age group. How can I be expected to think and act like an adult?
MBA&M: What was your inspiration behind writing “The Seven Devils“?
It seemed natural to write a YA fiction novel. I read almost exclusively YA fiction, and I read a lot of it since I am a school librarian. I had actually dreamed about Neil for years and decided to finally try to flesh him out a little so to speak. Whenever I dreamt of Neil, the most striking thing about him was always his eyes which seemed to see right into you. When we were children my friends and I used to ask each other what super power you would choose if you could have just one. A lot of them wanted to fly (which I find silly), but I always wanted the ability to read minds. When you take that and really think through it, though, you begin to wonder if you would ever be able to hold down a relationship if you knew every whim that passed through your friend/boyfriend/husband’s minds. The Seven Devils goes into much more than that, but it was the basis of my story idea.
MBA&M: What was the allure for you in writing YA romance novels?
Some of my friends and coworkers make fun of me for reading YA romance, but to me it just has so much more than adult romance. Adult romance seems very quick to me. There’s a glance, a touch, a flirtation, and then BOOM—they’re in bed together. YA romance novels build and build and build until you’re so invested in the story and the characters that you nearly die of happiness when they finally kiss. I wanted my characters to be part of that magic.
MBA&M: Who is your favorite character in “The Seven Devils”? What draws you to them?
Neil, obviously! He’s incredibly smart, sexy, and very dark and mysterious. You can read most of what he says two ways. Even I as the author didn’t always know whether I believed him or not. You can read the whole book as a fun romance novel and then go back and read it entirely differently where it is full of careful lies and manipulations. Which is the truth? You will all learn more when I finally finish the sequel!
MBA&M: What influenced you while you were writing?
Oh, everything! It took me four years to write this first book for many reasons, but one of which is that I would read a particularly great book and just give up on my own writing (once for a entire year!) because I would get depressed and feel as though I could never measure up. Then something would happen and I would get inspired and writewritewrite in every spare minute I had. Some inspiration would come from my husband… some sweet thing he would say or do. Sometimes I would dream about my characters and something would just come to me. Writing a novel wasn’t a fluid, linear process for me at all, and after four years of writing I found that my ending was better written than my beginning, so I took another year to edit and rewrite sections. It took a long time, but I’m proud of the result! (And I certainly have an even higher level of respect for professional authors now that I’ve tried it myself!)
MBA&M: Three words you would use to describe “The Seven Devils”?
Dark, Sexy, and Thrilling.
MBA&M: Last but not least, tell our readers where to connect with you and where they can purchase “The Seven Devils”?
This may sound silly, but I haven’t told anyone that I published a book, so you can’t really follow me on Twitter or Facebook or anything like that. If you read the book, you know that Ellen’s family is very troubled, and I was a little worried that my own family would draw parallels to themselves, so I published under a pseudonym and have only told 5 people in my personal life that I wrote this at all! You can purchase the book on Amazon.com in the Kindle store.
