MBA:  Dana, please tell our readers a little about yourself, your likes/dislikes,favorite movies, books, authors and hobbies?
DMB: I’m a writer, a dreamer, and the proud dance mom of an eight year old daughter.  I am a Twihard, a Potterhead, and a complete nerd when it comes to paranormal romance.  I love old movies, Anne Rice, Stephen King, and in my rare spare moments, I love to be outside in the landscape.  There is something about the smell of fresh dirt that inspires me.  Yes, I am THAT odd.
MBA:  What made you decide to write YA Paranormal Romance?
DMB:  I worked really hard trying to break into the literary fiction market and did fairly well, but there were still so many stories in my head that just wouldn’t go away.  I started writing them down, one scene at a time, and before I knew it, I had a whole novel.
MBA:  What challenges did you encounter in writing “Spiritus”,if any?
DMB: The biggest challenge was creating a romance between a living girl and a ghost.  Most of the ways that I would usually use to show growing emotion involved physical contact and that just wasn’t possible, so I had to come up with much more subtle ways to show the depth of Alastor’s devotion to Becca.
MBA: What do you hope to accomplish by writing “Spiritus” and what do you hope your readers will gain by reading “Spiritus”?
DMB: To me, Spiritus is just a fun read.  I’ve always thought that the best books are the ones that take you away from the real world and suspend you in the world that the writer created.  I want to give readers those moments of escape.
MBA: What is a typical writing day for you, do you have a writing cave, some of your writing habits, superstitions of so what are they?
DMB: I tend to write all day, carrying a notebook everywhere with me.  I actually do better when surrounded by noise and chaos.  My strangest writing habit is that I write novels out of order.  I write whatever scene is strongest in my imagination at that moment and then go back and put it all together.
DMB:  Dana what are the top 3, YA Paranormal Romance/Paranormal romance reads you feel helped you in writing “Spiritus”,if any?
DMB: I love the Twilight Saga and really liked the way that love didn’t have to automatically equal sex, then there is the Harry Potter books which taught me the importance of paying attention to the tiny details, and lastly I would have to say any of Anne Rice’s books and their awesome descriptions of emotion and setting.
MBA: What where some of your New Year resolutions, if you have any?
DMB: My New Years Resolution is to finish the entire Spiritus series and start another.  Some authors can churn books out rather quickly, but I work in spurts, so I really have to work to get my books out.
MBA:  Now, Dana, please tell our readers where to find you and where they can purchase “Spiritus”?
DMB: Spiritus is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords in the ebook formats.  The paperback version should be available after the first of the year at most retailers either in the store or available for order.
Readers can visit my site, for some Spiritus extras and I’m hoping to have a Becca and Alastor exclusive to offer to my newsletter subscribers soon.  Readers can also follow me on facebook:

Book #1 of the Spiritus series just .99!
A love that refuses to die…
“As I watched him vanish into a soft mist that faded away, I knew that he was no ordinary spirit…I knew that he was a dangerous entity that could be in some corner of another realm planning his revenge, but I also knew that I was hopelessly in love with him.”
When Becca moves into her ancestral home in Corydon, Indiana, her life takes a puzzling and thrilling turn when she meets the ghost haunting the halls. As the seductive spirit lures her closer and closer, she learns about her own past and starts to understand that some mistakes are meant to last.
Becca McAllister has always been different from other girls her age. Never part of the “in crowd”, Becca never really fit in anywhere. When her mother dies and her father moves them to the small town of Corydon, Indiana, Becca didn’t expect things to change.
But things do change when Becca accidentally makes contact with a one hundred and sixty year old ghost, Alastor Sinclair, that haunts the halls of her new home.
To Becca, Alastor is a seductive spirit that seems to see straight into her soul. To Alastor, Becca is what he was waited a century for–A second chance.
But the closer they get, the more Becca realizes that this isn’t the first time she and Alastor have known each other. Worse still, is she the one responsible for his death so long ago? And if so, did he come back for love or revenge?
