MEET C.H. ADMIRAND,ROMANCE AUTHOR AND COWBOY ROMANCE!!
Good morning, C. H. Admirand, welcome back to My Book Addiction and More today.
MBA&M: Tell our readers a little about yourself?
CA: Thanks for inviting me back. I’m new to mass market, having been in the Library Market and Small Press for the last twelve years. When I started writing for Sourcebooks, I switched from writing Historical Romance to writing Contemporary Romance. Although I wasn’t surprised, there is just as much research involved!
CA: The idea was a result of a trip to a ladies club in support of a publisher one of my author friends writes for. My vision of a ladies club was definitely the romanticized version. To get through my embarrassment at the time, I started to plot in my head, wondering why would a cowboy be up on stage stripping down to teeny tiny briefs, his chaps and his Stetson? The answer: to save the Circle G Ranch. Once I started plotting, my mind was busy and I could set aside my embarrassment and focus on aspects of the scene around me that I could utilize in my book. I’ve always loved watching cowboys on the silver screen and TV, so it was very easy for me to envision one as the hero in my trilogy. I love writing about families, so my cowboy had to have brothers.
MBA&M: How do you feel your writing has grown through the years?
CA: I’ve never focused on the mechanics of how to write a story. For me it’s always been about telling the stories that are inside of me. Once the plot or character takes a hold of me, I flesh out the plot and characters, then sit down and get to work. It’s an awesome feeling, sitting in front of a blank page and starting to type as the story unfolds in my head. It is definitely a gift that I can’t ignore and I know that I’m supposed to share them. The bonus is that readers are starting to find me and enjoy reading my stories. With each book my writing improves, it is a continuous learning process.
MBA&M: What is the weirdest piece of writing advice you got that actually works?
CA: If there is a scene you absolutely love and just have to write (even though it doesn’t move your story forward or ultimately belong in the story) write it; print it out, and frame it, because it doesn’t belong in your story.
MBA&M: For the readers who did not realize you wrote a Medieval Trilogy, can you tell us a little but more about those, and where readers can find them?
CA: I have always loved reading about the Norman Conquest and the struggles the Saxons had during that time. There was so much turmoil during that time and the plight of the Saxons always had me rooting for them, but I have Norman blood mixed in with my Irish ancestors, so I knew I needed to open my mind to their side of history as well. The result is a trilogy of strong heroines willing to stand against all odds for their families and way of life and heroes strong enough to recognize the value of such a woman by their side. The trilogy is published by DCL Publications and available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble in trade paperback and NOOK formats.
MBA&M: Will you re-release any of your older books?
CA: I have the rights back for two of the books in my Irish Western Series and am hoping to find a new home for them. My only problem right now is time! LOL.
MBA&M: What are some of your favorite movies, music, food, drink, and such?
CA: Movies: Stagecoach, McClintock, The Quiet Man, How Green Was My Valley, High Noon, Roman Holiday, The Matchmaker. Music: Alabama, the Eagles, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Taylor Swift, the Everly Brothers, the Beach Boys, the Kingston Trio to name a few. Food: Carbs Sweet Potato Praline Pie, Cream Scones, Roast Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy…or Roast Turkey…etc. Drink: Tullemore Dew (Irish Whiskey)…Drake’s Funny Bones and Lay’s Potato Chips…if I buy either of those two…I will EAT THEM ALL…so I try not to buy the Funny Bones of Potato Chips too often. <sigh>
MBA&M: Where can your readers find you, and where can they purchase Dylan or any of your books available books?
CA: Readers can find me on twitter and facebook (unless I’m on deadline…like right now with revisions for my next book) www.twitter.com/CHAdmirand www.facebook.com/CHAdmirand or my website www.chadmirand.com . You can find Dylan, and my backlist, on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and most major booksellers. There are links on my website along with excerpts, reviews, and book trailers, so please do stop by and visit.
Thank you so much for visiting with us today!
Thanks so much for inviting me!
