Good morning, William and welcome to My Book Addiction and More!!

MBA&M: Please give our readers some insight into William Woodall?

WILLIAM: Well, let’s see.  I’m one of those invincible optimists that always sees the silver lining in every bad situation.  My wife laughs at me for it and calls me Mr. Sunshine all the time.  But it’s not that I don’t see the dark side of things or that I don’t know what that feels like- believe me, I do.  I just choose not to focus on it.

MBA&M: What called you to become an author?

WILLIAM: I think I’ve always wanted to become an author, ever since I was old enough to know I wanted anything at all.  There’s something special about creating things, telling stories that no one ever heard before, which is just awesome.

MBA&M:  What is the allure of werewolves?

WILLIAM: Werewolves are an old, old tale, and they’ve been popular ever since people started telling stories. I think people like them for the same reason they like the idea of flying like a bird.  It’s the lure of having powers beyond what human beings can normally do, and if we can’t have those things in reality then it’s nice to enjoy it as a fantasy story sometimes.

MBA&M: Give our readers a little background on “THE LAST WEREWOLF HUNTER”?

WILLIAM: When I started writing this book, I wanted to do a werewolf story which was different than anything else I’d ever read.  Yeah, I know that’s a tall order, but that was my goal.  But I also wanted to have fun with it, and I was determined not to let it get too serious.  So I came up with the idea of Zach growing up in a family of werewolves and deciding to reject that kind of life for himself, and then finding himself in a position where he had to be the one to break the werewolf Curse for the whole world.  Not something he ever expected, and it gave him a lot of opportunities to learn and grow and do some fantastic things.

MBA&M: What do you thing the allure of “THE LAST WEREWOLF HUNTER” will be to readers?

WILLIAM: Werewolf stories are pretty common nowadays, and it’s hard to find something that’s truly fresh and different to say about them.  I think The Last Werewolf Hunter is unlike anything else on the market right now, and with as many werewolf stories as there are, that’s really saying something.  If it were only me, I’d be nervous about claiming such a thing, but after so many readers have said the same thing, I have to agree with them.  The Last Werewolf Hunter is a werewolf story unlike anything else you’ve ever read.

 

 

MBA&M: Where did the idea of “THE LAST WEREWOLF HUNTER” come from?

WILLIAM: I get asked this question a lot, and I’m not sure I know the answer.  I’ve always liked werewolf books, especially if they had some humor and maybe a little bit of deeper meaning to think about.  So maybe it’s only logical that I’d end up writing something like that one day.  It started out as a short story I wrote when I was in high school, and it grew up from there. 

 

 

MBA&M: What is in your “To read” pile?

WILLIAM: Insurgent, by Veronica Roth.  I just finished Divergent, and I can’t wait to read the sequel.  I’m also looking forward to finishing Robert Liparulo’s House of Dark Shadows series.  I’m a voracious reader, whenever I have time to do it, and there are so many great books out there.

 

 

MBA&M: Who do you feel your writing most resembled?

WILLIAM: I think I’ve been influenced by a lot of writers, in various ways.  I got my quirky humor from Robert Heinlein, my high symbolism from C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and then there’s quite a bit which is just purely me.

 

 

MBA&M: What is the one thing you would like to accomplish with your

writing?Why?

WILLIAM: I’d like for my readers to be inspired by the stories I write.  Kids hear so many stale, boring lectures about how they ought to behave and what’s right and wrong, and then on the other hand they hear so many other stories that glorify bad behavior, too.   There are not many stories out there which are fun, exciting, real, and can make goodness seem like something cool and admirable.  It’s a hard tightrope to walk.  But I hope, if I’ve done my job, that that’s what my stories will be. 

 

 

MBA&M: If you could step into a book which one would it be and why?

WILLIAM: I think my favorite fantasy world is a tossup between Narnia and Middle Earth.  I love the richness of both places, and I think what I love best of all is that there are things really worth doing, choices that really make a difference, and people I’d really like to get to know.  The depth of those two worlds is something truly awesome.

 

 

MBA&M: Which character in “THE LAST WEREWOLF HUNTER” do you most identify with?Why?

WILLIAM: That would have to be Zach, no question about it.  He’s the main character, of course, and since the whole story is told through his eyes, he almost IS the story.   I think Zach is easy for anybody to identify with, though.  He’s so real-seeming that you soon feel like he’s been one of your best friends for years.  He goes through so much pain and heartache in the book, but he never loses his sense of humor or his ability to see things in a way you’d never think of.  He’s the kind of character you remember for a long time.

 

 

MBA&M: What is next for you as an author?

WILLIAM: I’m not quite sure yet, at this point.  I just finished writing a new novel called “Unclouded Day”, and I’m thinking about writing a new book about Zach at some point, since I’ve gotten so many requests for that.  Nobody seems to want to let him go.  It won’t be about werewolves this time, but I haven’t decided what he might have to tackle next.  lol
