Good morning, Deb and welcome to My Book Addiction and More!

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about Deb Marlowe?

Thanks so much for having me, ladies!  I’m thrilled to be back!  Hmmm . . . Well, I’m a wife, mom to 2 hungry, busy, teenage boys, and an author of Regency Historical Romance.  I love throwing my characters into a mystery or an adventure.  It’s a lot of work facing your demons, falling in love and getting yourself out of peril, too, but I love to give them the sort of happy endings that makes up for it.

I adore history, good movies and men in boots.  I like pina coladas and getting caught in the . . . wait . . .  nevermind.  J

MBA&M: What made you decide to write historical romance,Regency, why that era?

I’m a major history geek.  I like learning about it every day and I love making history come alive.  The Regency era is wonderful to write because it is full of conflict, societal changes, historical figures that are larger than life, plus, you know . . . men in boots.  J

MBA&M: What inspired you to write “Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick”,if anything?

Braedon and Chloe are both hiding behind masks.  They are very different sorts of masks, but I wanted to explore a journey where the characters take the huge risk of exposing themselves, facing and learning their true selves, for the sake of love.  It makes for hard decisions and some hard moments too, but I think it’s that much more satisfying in the end.

MBA&M: What kind of research goes into writing historical romance and where do you get most of your material(s)?

Research is one of the best parts of writing historical romance—and really helps in taking both me and my readers out of our everyday worlds and into the past.

I read a lot of research books and belong to several historically oriented loops.  Sometimes it’s something specific that I’m looking up for a plot or scene, and sometimes it’s just a little nugget that pops out of a book or you see online.  Occasionally it’s that unexpected knowledge that becomes the basis for something fun in a book!

MBA&M: How do you feel the internet helps authors and readers connect?

I think authors and readers have reached a sort of connection today that has never been achieved before.  I love my fabulous newsletter peeps.  We do fun contests together and they amaze me with their stories and opinions.  Authors are easy to find and connect with on Facebook and Twitter.  I know not everyone is comfortable with so much interaction, but for the most part people are lovely.

MBA&M: What are your comfort foods?

Chex mix and my mom’s ham casserole.

MBA&M: Living in a small town,or not so small if you know the area,we are nearly neighbors as a matter of fact. How do the residents preceive you as an author? Are they camped on your doorstep, following you around, going through your trash, and such oddities? If so, how does this affect your family?

We are practically neighbors!  I’m not sure why we don’t see each other more.  J  I’m LOL at the thought of anyone camped out on the doorstep.  No one gives a hoot about my garbage except for the possums who go on a determined, nightly raid.

No, my friends and neighbors are mildly interested in my career.  Some of them read my books, which is wonderful and strange at the same time.  They get a charge out of seeing my books at Walmart or the bookstore.  One thing that has been nice—this is such a great area to live in.  It’s easy to get around to the different smaller communities as well as Raleigh.  I’ve met some people online and then had the opportunity to get together for coffee and lovely romance talk!

MBA&M: In “Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick” which character, who do you identify with most and why?

In this particular book, I think I identify with Chloe Hardwick the most.  I’ve never gone to the extremes that she has to hide myself away, but I have reached several crossroads in my life—the sort at which you know that your decision is going to forever change your life—and the sort where you once and for all have to decide what kind of person you are going to be.

MBA&M: What is on the horizon for Deb Marlowe?

I am currently writing the second book in a new series.  Details to follow.

MBA&M: What is your biggest regret as an author? Why?

Not starting to write sooner.  I look back and know I could have found a way to make it happen, if only I had known how much I would enjoy it.

MBA&M: Please tell our readers where to find you and where “Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick” is available?

Please visit my website at or find me on Facebook and Twitter.  I love to talk books, TV and movies.  I’m addicted to story telling in all its incarnations!

Featuring Jayne Fresina, Tamara Hogan and Joanne Kennedy…..

Jayne Fresina:

Jayne Fresina sprouted up in England, the youngest in a family of four girls.  Entertained by her father’s colorful tales of growing up in the countryside, and surrounded by opinionated sisters— all with far more exciting lives than hers— she’s always had inspiration for her beleaguered heroes and unstoppable heroines. MBA&M: What made you decide to write Regency Romance?

JF: I always loved Regency romance, ever since  I read Pride and Prejudice.

MBA&M: Which character in The Most Improper Miss Sophie Valentine would you say you most identify with and why?

JF: I think I would have to say Sophia – I too have my scars from life and I’m trying to take a new direction

MBA&M: If you could step back into time and place, would Regency England be where you would go or somewhere else?

JF: I would love to go back in time to one of Jane Austen’s novels.  I would love to be Harriet Smith in Emma. Because she is sweet and gracious, even when terrible things have been done to her. And she ends up with the hunky farmer who clearly adores her. Somehow I think Harriet ends up happy then anyone.

“Wanted: one husband, not too particular. Small dowry, several books,   sundry furnishings, and elderly aunt included. Idlers, time-wasters, and   gentleman with other attachments need not apply.”—Miss Sophie Valentine
Sophie Valentine knew placing an ad for a husband in the Farmers Gazette   would bring her trouble-and she was right. When the darkly handsome,   arrogantly charming Lazarus Kane shows up on her doorstep, the nosy   residents of Sydney Dovedale are thrown into a gossiping tizzy. After   all, it’s common knowledge that Sophie is a young lady In Need of Firmer   Direction. But even Sophie isn’t so scandalous as to marry a complete   stranger. .. is she?
Lazarus Kane has been searching for Sophie half of his life. She may not   remember him, but he could never forget her. But the past is a   dangerous thing, and it’s best if his remains secret if he wants to   tempt Sophie with …

Tamara Hogan:

Tamara Hogan loathes cold and snow, but nonetheless lives near Minneapolis with her partner Mark and two naughty cats. When she’s not telecommuting as a quality and process engineer for a global networking company, she enjoys writing edgy urban fantasy romance with a sci-fi twist. A feral reader with an unapologetic television addiction, Tammy is forever on the lookout for the perfect black boots. Her debut, Taste Me, was a 2009 Daphne Paranormal Winner and 2009 Golden Heart Finalist.  For more information, please visit or follow her on Twitter, @TamaraHogan1. Her latest release is Chase Me,

MBA&M: What drew you to write Paranormal Romance?

TH:  Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire was a seminal book for me. I’d been reading romance since I was about 10 years old, but something about this book, released in 1976, just dug its hooks in and never let go.  Gothic horror + romance + vampires? I was SO THERE.

MBA&M: What or who would you say influenced you the most in your writing career? Why?

TH: I have to give the lion’s share of the credit to my high school English teachers Jill Pollar and Sally Bronski. They recognized my love of reading and writing, encouraged my love of poetry, and, when they noticed I was bored in class, they slipped me some more challenging books on the side, and discussed them with me over coffee before school started, like I was a peer rather than a student. Secondly, I would have to say my mother, who didn’t censor me, and let me read whatever I wanted. (There was no such thing as YA back in the day.) From an early age, I absorbed books like oxygen, had my little world expanded, was exposed to concepts and ideas that I hadn’t previously been exposed to…I learned there was a big, wide world—and so many possibilities—beyond the tiny mining town where I’d been born.

MBA&M: What is in your TBR list?  What genre do you usually read, when reading for pleasure?

TH: My TBR list is seriously out of hand. One thing that nobody tells you when you become a published author is that writing on deadline and under contract seriously cuts into your reading time. That said, I am a feral multi-genre reader. In my TBR is the latest Vorkosigan novel, Cryoburn, a pile of Harlequin Blazes (I’m a long-time subscriber), Kresley Cole’s Lothaire, a non-fiction book on social networks and the death of privacy called I Know Who You Are and I Know What You Did by Lori Andrews, and Dr. Michio Kaku’s Physics of the Future. To say I have eclectic reading tastes is an understatement.

The secrets she’s uncovering will be his to keep…

Centuries ago, when their ship crashed to Earth, paranormals of all types settled secretly into our world, quietly going about their business with humans none the wiser. Self-ruling and careful to stay below humanity’s radar, all is threatened when Valkyrie archaeologist Lorin Schlessinger and her werewolf geologist partner Gabe Lupinsky in advertently draw evil attention to Earth and its treasured natural resources.

As the threat intensifies, Lorin and Gabe struggle to contain the chaos they’ve unleashed, and to resist their explosive mutual attraction…

Joanne Kennedy:

Joanne Kennedy is the author of four contemporary Western romances for Sourcebooks: Cowboy Trouble One Fine Cowboy, Cowboy Fever, and Tall, Dark and Cowboy. She brings a wide variety of experience, ranging from chicken farming to horse training, to her sexy, spicy cowboy stories. She is a 2011 finalist in the prestigious Romance Writers of American RITA© Awards, for One Fine Cowboy. Joanne lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she is working on her next book, Cowboy Tough (Fall 2012). For more information, please visit and

MBA&M: Why Contemporary Cowboy Romance?

JK: I moved to the West twenty years ago and fell in love with the setting and the people—especially the cowboys! I write contemporaries because although I love Western history, my voice and my sensibilities are relentlessly modern. Besides, I like my cowboys clean! Those guys in the old West didn’t have many opportunities to bathe.

MBA&M: What do you think is the allure of Cowboy Romance to readers?

JK: In a world that sometimes seems out of control, cowboys represent something solid and dependable. They’re strong and steady. They’re tied to the land, often for generations. They still perform their jobs as they did a hundred years ago, and even dress very much as they did back then. Their manners and attitude toward women are old-fashioned and tradition means a lot to them. The world changes, sometimes too fast. Cowboys stay the same – in a good way.

MBA&M: Which character of all your books is your favorite? Why?

JK: Oh, that’s a hard question! It’s like having a lot of kids; I love them all in different ways. If I had to pick one of my heroes, I’d pick Nate Shawcross from One Fine Cowboy. He’s the one that readers responded to in a really special way; there’s something about his strong, silent dependability that people love. I still get e-mails about him.

For a heroine, I’d pick Sarah Landon from Cowboy Crazy. She’s complicated and has a lot to learn at the beginning of the book, but she’s loyal and willing to make sacrifices for the people she loves.

There are a lot of secondary characters I really love, though. No-nonsense ranchwoman Doris from One Fine Cowboy, crotchety old Fletcher Galt from Tall, Dark and Cowboy, Crazy Mike from Cowboy Trouble, and Troy, the hero’s disabled brother, from Cowboy Fever are some of my favorites.

She kicked the country dust off her boots a long time ago…

Sarah Landon’s Ivy League scholarship transformed her from a wide-eyed country girl into a poised professional. Her job at the Carrigan Oil Company has given her the sophisticated life she longed for, but when she meets her boss’s black-sheep brother, she realizes her roots are showing.

But he’s ready to remind her she’s a cowgirl at heart.

Rebellious rodeo cowboy Lane Carrigan is determined to save the Wyoming community of Two Shot from the ravages of energy development, but Sarah’s convinced her old hometown needs a swift kick in the pants from the march of progress.

When a lapsed cowgirl collides with rodeo royalty, it’s bound to be a wild ride—and somebody’s going to end up in the dirt.

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about Michelle Willingham?

I live in Virginia with my husband, three children, and a cat who thinks he’s a dog. Cooking and baking are some of my favorite hobbies, and I’m not ashamed to say I enjoy reality shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Top Chef.” I tell myself, I’m watching characters in action. J

I’ve been writing historical romance since 2004, but my first book was published in 2007. Since then, I’ve published over twenty books, novellas, and short stories. My newest book, Tempted by the Highland Warrior just came out this week!

MBA&M: What was the inspiration behind writing the MacKinloch Clan series?

The first book, Claimed by the Highland Warrior, was inspired by the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” I named the four MacKinloch Brothers similar to the brothers in the musical, after the alphabet: Alex, Bram, Callum, and Dougal. And yet, as I began writing these Highlanders, I discovered that each one had his own personal demons to overcome. Alex is fighting to heal his broken marriage. Bram is struggling to rejoin the ordinary world after having been a prisoner of war. Last, Callum has lost his voice. Each one of these men is a tormented hero, but their heroines heal their scars with love and kindness.

MBA&M: Who would you say influenced you the most in your writing career?

It’s a cross between LaVyrle Spencer and Johanna Lindsey. I loved the emotional intensity and the vivid characters of LaVyrle Spencer, and I own every book she’s written. Each time I re-read an old favorite (Morning Glory, The Endearment, and Vows are stand-out historical romances), I catch something new. She’s the author who inspired me to write and a person I would dearly love to meet.

Johanna Lindsey wrote sexy, alpha heroes who were magical. I happily devoured her books in high school and enjoyed every last one. I loved the way she tackled multiple time periods: medieval, western, Regency—you name it, she wrote it. It’s not easy to write in different time periods, but like Lindsey, it’s something I want to do in my career as well. I’ve just finished writing my first Regency, and can’t wait to share it with readers!

MBA&M: I know the Mackinloch Clan has three books so far in this series, how many more will there be or is “Tempted by the Highland Warrior” the last in this series?

There is a companion novella, “Craving the Highlander’s Touch” which accompanies Seduced by Her Highland Warrior. It gave me the chance to write a story for secondary characters who caught my eye. As far as a last book, I’ve left open the possibility of a story for Dougal, but currently there are no immediate plans. We’ll see how the response is to the trilogy and if there’s a demand, I’ll consider it.

MBA&M: What do you feel is the allure to readers of “Highland Warriors”?

I think everyone loves Celtic lore and Scotland. It’s such a wild, beautiful country with a history of rebels. It’s that independent spirit that makes me imagine a warrior who will fight to the death for what he wants. It’s even better when he’ll fight for the heroine. Is there anything sexier than a hot Highlander who will do anything for the woman he loves?

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few things about Kelly Rae?

I’d love to; let’s see I am a mom first and foremost. My son, Triton, is nine and constantly keeping me on my toes. He is also my favorite person in the world. We currently live in southern California, but I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I love movies, mostly romance and shoot ‘em up bang-bang types. I can’t watch scary movies, because I laugh and ruin it for everyone else. And if you catch me on a good day I will make you a pasta sauce that will knock your socks off!

MBA&M: What made you decide to write “What if…”?

I started writing this book before my son was even born. Then life took over for a bit and I lost focus on writing. Then one day my son and I were talking about his dreams (being drafted into the NBA) and I thought what better way to show him that dreams are possible than to do it for myself. Triton knew I wanted to be a writer and so I went for it, full force. I just decided it was time to live my own dream, so I finished What If… and started the work of polishing, for publishing.

MBA&M: Why is “What if…” close to your heart and what was the challenges in writing this title?

I think since it’s my first published work there is bound to be a level of closeness that will surpass all other books I write. However, there is also the element of forgiveness that is key to me. Things happen in life and we take on blame that is not ours, sometimes shaking that undeserved blame is very difficult. I love the journey that Katie takes to forgive herself and move forward. I think it was actually a lesson I learned while writing the book and forgave myself for a few things in the process.

The difficulty for me was letting go of the story, letting it out into the world where it will be reviewed and judged and not just my little baby anymore.

MBA&M: What are some of the issues for today’s aspiring authors?

I think one of the biggest issues currently is deciding whether to wait for a traditional publishing contract or to self/indie pub. This new ability has made a lot more options available to aspiring writers. For a long time it was very important to me to have a NYC, big six publisher pick me out of the blue and publish my book. The trouble is that it can take a long time to be SEEN by someone in the big six. You will face many a rejection by agents and editors before anyone in NYC will take a serious look at your work. J.K. Rowling wasn’t noticed until she had already published the first Harry Potter book on her own, so it doesn’t mean you aren’t a solid writer. It’s a very subjective business, just like reviews and readers themselves. Not every agent or pub house is going to think you or your work, works for them. You can choose to wait for the nod from New York or even a smaller press…or you can DIY. Self-pubbing is also a risk and will take time to build a readership, but for some at least it’s time spent being published. My best and only advice is to research all of the options you have and decide what works for you, personally. Writers are making a success in both veins of publishing. So, research and then write, write, write!

MBA&M: I see you are considered a bit of a daredevil by your friends, tell our readers some of the things you have “dared” to do?

Oh, this is a fun question! Let’s see, I swam with sharks in Waikiki, I bungee jumped off a crane, zip-lined in Catalina. In addition, on a slightly milder scale, I’ve been in hot air balloons, helicopters and raced on the back of a motorcycle. The motorcycle one I wouldn’t do again – not even protection between me and cement and I have to skin I enjoy my skin. But there are still a few items on the dare devil list J

MBA&M: Who would you say is your biggest “supporter” and why?

My biggest supporter is my son, because while I was finishing What If… and working on getting it published, he agreed to move away from California to a small town in Oregon. It was a place where it would be cheaper to live and I had family to help, while I worked on the book. It was a pretty big sacrifice for a seven year old, at the time. Nevertheless, he did it for me and someday I will return the favor and do whatever it takes to make his dreams come true. Here is to hoping that whatever it takes involves a waterfall and rappel ropes. J

What If…

                           Authored by               Kelly Rae

Cover design or artwork by   Steena Holmes

“Katie, are you listening to me?” Chris demanded with a stomp of his feet, like a child.

“Chris, I don’t believe you, I know what I saw. Don’t treat me like a fool I’m… ” Just then a mixed color of lights were projected onto the house and Katie turned to see a sheriff car pulling into the driveway, headlights on with red and white lights flashing but no sound. When the deputy got out of the car, her knees gave out and she just about hit the deck. He was here for her, she could feel it down the pit of her stomach. Chris had been right behind her and caught Katie before she fell to the ground. Katie was screaming stop, go away, and in her head but nothing was coming out of her mouth. She closed her eyes, willing the scene to be different when she opened them again. She felt like a small child hiding from the boogieman, if she couldn’t see the deputy then he couldn’t see her, right? She would open her eyes to find him gone in five, four, three, two…

“Katie, are you ok?” Chris was yelling at her, for how long she couldn’t be sure. She opened her eyes and there was the deputy, almost right in front of her now. Her mouth wasn’t working; her throat felt dry and closed up, swollen like a bad sore throat but with no pain. Numb. Sometimes in life we know things. Instantly. A sound, a smell, or just a feeling in the pit of our stomachs alert us to changes in life’s vibrations that we cannot understand on an intellectual level: they are intuitions. For Katie, this means she knows exactly what’s happened to her father before the deputy tells her, knows he’s been in an accident, and knows it’s not okay. In fact, she knows it’s far from okay. After her visit to his bedside at the hospital that night, she will never see him alive again-the first man she ever loved. And after her father’s funeral she is determined to never again see Chris Staller either-the first boy she ever loved.

Fast-forward ten years and Katie is now a beautiful, successful, and driven woman in her late-twenties. But her father’s death and Chris’ betrayal have clouded every relationship she has had since that night. From potential romantic partners to her closest friends, she has kept everyone around her from getting too close. Working through these intimacy issues while maintaining a stellar career reputation, however, has been a challenge-but challenges are Katie’s lifeblood. She rises to every occasion and always comes out on top.

When Katie pays a visit to her old high school, however, she runs into Chris, now a dedicated PE teacher who pines for the one he let get away: her. An upstanding member of the community and a much better man than he was a boy, Chris is determined to win Katie back at all cost. But Katie is less than receptive to the idea, and when he lays down a challenge, she is determined to come out on top again.

A fun, funny, and poignant journey from first love through finding life’s path, Kelly Rae’s debut is a sweet love story that serves as a reminder to the healing power of forgiveness. Learning to follow the heart is a lesson everyone must learn, and her unadorned prose underscores the emotional terrain of that passage with powerful simplicity. Full of extraordinary grace and warmth, What If…will fill your life with hope and an inner knowing of life’s positive force.

When life doesn’t give you sisters, make your own.

In 1975, trying to find a place to belong, they join a collegesorority.

Laurie was looking for a place to call home, even if it was only for the four years of college. She knew whatever bonds she made wouldn’t last. Life had taught her that.

Karen, as usual, was doing what her mother told her to do, even though she was afraid she wasn’t pretty enough to be a sorority girl.

Ellen was looking for friends, and the free beers that came with mandatory fraternity exchanges, and if her dad had to dig deep into his bank accountto foot the sorority bill, so much the better.

Diane, sexy and confident, guys trailing after her like wolves on the scent, is the kind of woman other women hate, until her mask slips.

In the same pledge class, they found each other. Through parties and pranks, finals week and skipped classes, boyfriends and bad break-ups they forge a bond built on laughter and trust that takes them by surprise. No one expected it to last beyond college graduation. But some bonds are too strong to break.

Now they’re sisters.

And with sisters, it’s not about what happens. It’s about no matter what happens.

KATHARINE: I write historical romances featuring daring heroines, dashing heroes, loads of adventure, and stunning sensuality. My new book, HOW TO BE A PROPER LADY (coming out next week!), entangles a man with a mission and a lady who refuses to be controlled in a delectable wager both of them just might win.

MBA&M: What made you want to write historical romances? Why Regency Romance?

KATHARINE: I adore the gloriously epic romances of the past, stories of sweeping love and noble deeds, of devastating sacrifices and spectacular triumphs. It’s all so exciting! Regency-era England offers a particularly delicious palate to work with. I revel in the contrast between the decorous order of high society and the vast, dangerous empire Britain was building at that time across the world. My heroes and heroines steal kisses in the shadowed corners of ballrooms as well as on ship decks, and get locked in embraces beneath fragrant rose trellises as well as wind-swept palm trees. The opportunities for dalliance — both deliciously familiar and delectably exotic — are endless!

MBA&M: Of all your books which character do you most identify with and why?

KATHARINE: All and none. Naturally there is a bit of me in each of my characters, and often the particular challenges they face come straight from my life experience. But none of them are me. More than anything, when I write a book I fall in love with the couple. Their thrilling journey together toward happiness drives my pen, and I become completely swept up in their relationship.

MBA&M: If you could change places with any character in one of your stories, which character and why?

KATHARINE: Oh, this is an easy one: Viola Carlyle, the heroine of HOW TO BE A PROPER LADY. I adore the sea, but I also adore fine living. Viola is both a scruffy sailor living on a ship and a lovely lady living on a lord’s estate, so she has the opportunity for both. Also, her hero, Captain Jin Seton, is the most devastatingly mouthwatering… But I won’t go there! Like I said, it’s the couple for me. Viola wouldn’t be who she is without Jin, and he couldn’t be the perfect hero without her. I love them both together.

MBA&M: Have you always wanted to be a writer? If not writing what would you be doing? By the way thank you for your wonderful stories!

KATHARINE: From the earliest I can remember I have written stories, especially love stories. My first was what we call “fan fiction” now, a rewriting of the children’s book Pretzel, the Longest Dachshund in the World with a much nicer heroine for poor Pretzel. And I actually do have another job; I’m a professor of medieval history. But even when I was in graduate school working hard on my PhD, I couldn’t stop writing romances. I simply adore telling love stories.

And you’re quite welcome! It is a great pleasure and an honor to be able to share my stories with others.

MBA&M: What is your life’s passion beside writing?

KATHARINE: My family—my husband, son and dogs.

MBA&M: How many books do you believe should be in a series? How do you know when to end a series?

KATHARINE: Each series has its own unique shape and size, I think. I like three-book series, but sometimes that’s just not enough, and certainly as a reader when it comes to characters that I love I crave more more more! As a writer too. I’ve brought back a number of characters from my Rogues of the Sea trilogy for my Falcon Club series because they were so much fun, but also because they asked for their own stories. (Seriously. I’m one of those writers whose characters talk to her.) Currently I’m working on my five-book Falcon Club series as well as a new three-book series that will debut in 2013.

MBA&M: If you can please tell our readers a few tidbits about your next project(s)?

KATHARINE: HOW A LADY WEDS A ROGUE, book #3 of my Falcon Club series, will be out on September 25. Road trip stories are my favorites, and this one throws a country miss and a hardened spy into a scandalously intimate adventure. I spent some time traveling through Wales while researching this book. Emerald hills, stormy skies, ancient castles… it was heaven, and the perfect place to get a winsome heroine and determined hero thoroughly lost… and to throw them completely in love.

MBA&M: Katharine, please tell our readers where to find you and where your books are available?

KATHARINE: I love chatting with readers about books and romance, and I always write back. My website is the best place to start: . It includes links to purchase my books in both paperback and e-book format, my email contact, a place to sign up for my short monthly newsletter where I announce contests and book news, as well as links to me on Facebook and twitter.

Katharine, do you have anything you would like to add today?

The Rules of Being a Proper Lady 1) Never take steps greater than six inches apart. 2) Never look boldly at a gentleman. 3) And never, ever, kiss a man who is not your fiancÉ.

But beautiful, bold Viola Carlyle doesn’t care about the rules. And she desperately wants to kiss the notoriously tempting Captain Jin Seton, the man who brought her kicking and fighting back to English society. Kidnapped as a child, now she longs to return to that life of freedom where she was able to live—and love—as she wished.

Having hunted Viola for two years, Jin Seton has finally found his good luck—for, by finding Viola, his oldest, deepest debt will at last be paid. And although he has vowed not to let her win his heart, this very improper lady might finally be the one who tames him.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, the Howard University graduate  embraced the written word at an early age. She credits this to her  loving, older sister whom, while they were youngsters, made the author  eat lotion on a regular basis. Realizing the need to sound-out the  ingredients on the lotion label, Alicia stopped the lotion-eating  practice, but continued to read the labels of the concoctions her sister  brought for her to try. This early necessity to read flowered to a  passion; hence, a writer was born. The award winning author resides in Maryland with her wonderful  husband and son.  Still an avid reader, label or otherwise, Alicia is  hard at work completing her next suspense novel. Her latest book is the  suspense novel, Dark Side of Valor.
