Death. Destruction. Rage.

Layla moved a thousand miles to escape the brutality and vengeance of the club. Of the man who stole her heart. But she was forged in the club and she will never be as free as she believed…

When her brother is murdered, death brings her right back into the clutches of the club – and under the watchful eye of Cullen “Rage” McFadden, her first love.

Cullen “Rage” McFadden wants vengeance for his best friend’s murder more than anything in the world. The only thing that could distract him is Layla. Loving her has never brought him anything but pain. She could be his undoing, but he doesn’t care. He has to have her.

Can Layla resist the temptation he represents, or will he drag her down into his world one more time?

Note: This is a dark and gritty MC romance. It is a stand alone title with no cliffhanger and a HEA ending in a series. There is some violence and adult content.

BLOG TOUR~HATE CITY: BOOKER #3~JOHN W. MEFFORD…with #Review and #Rafflecopter Giveaway

After a life filled with destruction of others and himself, and his body ravaged by disease, there’s only one thing left for Javier Calero to do. Leave a legacy that will finally bring meaning to his life—and to the death of an American president more than fifty years ago.

The CEO of a green energy company is murdered behind his million-dollar estate, his neck nearly severed in two. Recruited to aid the widow and find a savage killer, Booker finds himself in the middle of a family train wreck.

Days later, thrust into the crossfire of a deadly sniper, Booker eludes sure death with the uncanny arrival of a young woman who only wants to save her father from harm. But she can’t do it without Booker’s help.

Joining forces with a Latin spitfire, Booker and his new sidekick, Maggie, embark on a twenty-four-hour quest to hunt down a killer determined to make an indelible mark on history—just like the one that struck down John F. Kennedy a half-century earlier, which launched a cascade of assassination investigations and theories.

BOOKER – Hate City weaves a historic tale of thrills and suspense, examining the justifications of the unjustifiable.

Check out the other books in the series

Booker: Streets of Mayhem (Booker #1)On a cool October afternoon, the majestic blue sky above Dallas is polluted with swells of gray smoke, carrying shattered memories of fifteen people, mostly children, who’ve just been killed by an explosion on a bus.

A white supremacist group claims responsibility, opening old wounds, turning neighbor against neighbor–fracturing the community.

A Southeast Dallas native, Booker T. Adams couldn’t be more invested in the city…in the people he’d served for the last seven years as a beat cop for the Dallas Police Department. Without warning, it becomes personal for Booker on so many levels. And as panic grips the city, he must decide how much he’s willing to sacrifice to end the chaos.

With his career called into question and his family in the crosshairs of one terrorist act after another, Booker invests every fiber of his being to protect a broken community, and to stop the brutal, senseless slayings.

If he fails, terrorism will reign in the city of Dallas.

Booker: Tap That (Booker #2)

A performance for the ages.

Courtney Johnson brings the house down in the heart of the vibrant Dallas Arts District. Later, shrills pierce the hallways of Wyle Theater when Courtney, a budding Broadway musical star, is found dead, a single bullet to the head.

Driven to find the killer before panic tears apart the arts community and all those who support it, private investigator Booker T. Adams discovers evidence of a professional hit, then uncovers a lovers ‘ triangle that takes him all the way to the mean streets of Boston.

And then it happens again. Another performer killed, someone Booker had met. Rocked by the shocking murders, performers and patrons alike fear that a serial killer is on the loose, and no one knows when and or where another dead body will show up.

But professional obligations quickly morph into personal vendettas. Running against an unforgiving clock, Booker is forced to solicit the help of a crime boss, The Shark.

With his life threatened at almost every turn, and his heart being put through a meat grinder, Booker taps into every resource at his disposal to stop more than just a killer.

But at what price?

Full of unforgettable characters, bone-chilling suspense and stunning thrills, BOOKER – Tap That is a wild ride that will test even the most fervent reader’s quest for a luminous reading experience.

About the Author

A veteran of the corporate wars, former journalist, and true studier of human and social behavior, best-selling author John W. Mefford has been writing novels since he first entered the work force twenty-five years ago, although he never put words on paper until late 2009.

John writes novels full of intrigue, suspense, and thrills, but they also evoke an emotional connection with the characters.

When he’s not writing, he chases three kids around, slaves away in the yard, reads, takes in as many sports as time allows, watches all sorts of movies, and continues to make mental notes of people and societies across the land.

John lives in Frisco, Texas with his beautiful wife, three opinionated kids, and a feisty fat cat who rules the world.

BOOKER – Hate City (A Private Investigator Thriller Series of Crime and Suspense) by John W. Mefford is in interesting Suspense/Thriller. #3 in “A Private Investigator Thriller series of Crime and Suspense” series, but can be read as a stand alone. Although, I would suggest readers read the others in this interesting series as well.

This case involves a JFK assassination memorabilia murder, and another seemingly simpler murder, where either seem connected. This case spans decades of mystery. The historical facts on the different scenarios of the JFK assassination was a plus, to me. As well as  theft, mystery, crime, suspense,  and a blossoming romance makes for an exciting Crime Thriller.  Well written, with an intriguing storyline, and some amazing characters. Of course, you find those you don’t particularly like, but that’s the way of life. Another gripping tale from Mr. Mefford! Fans of Crime Thrillers, Suspense, Mystery, and Historical elements, with a touch of romance, are sure to enjoy “BOOKER: HATE CITY”.  I look forward to the next installment of this impressive series. A Fast paced Crime Thriller. Enjoyable and satisfying read!

Lady Phoebe Batten is pretty, vivacious, and yearning for a social life befitting the sister of a powerful duke. But because she is almost completely blind, her overprotective brother insists that she have an armed bodyguard by her side at all times—the very irritating Captain Trevillion.

Captain James Trevillion is proud, brooding, and cursed with a leg injury from his service in the King’s dragoons. He can still shoot and ride like the devil, however, so watching over the distracting Lady Phoebe should be no problem at all—until she’s targeted by kidnappers.

Caught in a deadly web of deceit, Captain Trevillion must risk life and limb to save his charge from the lowest of cads—one who would force Lady Phoebe into a loveless marriage. But when Trevillion rescues her, bringing her to his seaside home in Cornwall, Phoebe begins to see the tender man beneath the hard soldier’s exterior—and a searing passion that puts both their hearts at risk.

Dearest Rogue (Maiden Lane Book 8)

DEAREST ROGUE by Elizabeth Hoyt is an exciting Historical Romance. “Maiden Lane”, book 8, but can be read as a stand alone. The Maiden Lane saga continues, in Ms. Hoyt’s latest tale of passion, secrets, mystery, and romance.

A blind heroine, Lady Phoebe, Maximus’ beloved sister and  her bodyguard, Captain James Trevillion. Together, they not only make beautiful magic, but face danger, kidnapping, passion, and the magic of love. Fast paced tale that will leave readers on the edge of their seats. I enjoyed the way Phoebe and es interacted, the way he was so very protective and her self independence, and her inner strength.  A roller coaster ride of a story. Fans of Ms. Hoyt, Historical Romance, Regency Romance, suspense, and Mystery will enjoy “Dearest Rogue”.

Another hit for Ms. Hoyt. She never disappoints her fans, and writes beautifully, masterfully tales of magical romances, stolen kisses, Alpha heroes, and strong-willed heroines. Fantastic!! Strongly recommend tale of romance and finding true loved.

MBA&M: Please tell our readers a few tidbits about yourself?

I am a lawyer turned full time historical romance writer as of 2011 (my first novel was published in 2012). I also review books and have my own blog (Historical Romance Review, I live in San Diego and love it. Though I have lived on the East Coast, I’m really a creature of the West and never like to be too far from an ocean. I have a serious love for gourmet dark chocolate but otherwise, I am a compulsive healthy eater. All us Californians are salad eaters.

MBA&M: Give our readers a little background on the “Agents of the Crown” series and tell us about your new release is To Tame the Wind.

To Tame the Wind is the prequel to my Agents of the Crown Regency series. They are all related but can be read as “stand alones.” Because To Tame the Wind is the love story of the parents of the heroes in books 2 and 3 of the Agents of the Crown, it necessarily takes place 30 years earlier, in the late 18th century. But there are still spies aplenty as there are in the other books and a few British lords lying about. It’s also a unique setting in that it’s set in the last year of the American Revolution from the vantage point of England and France.

The Agents of the Crown books are based on the premise that the British Crown had its “special agents” that were sent on unique assignments. Along the way, of course, they meet some special women they can’t resist.

MBA&M: To Tame the Wind is a romance that takes place in part on a schooner. What do you feel the appeal of High Sea adventure and Georgian romance is for today’s readers?

I love romance on the high seas and sea captain heroes. To command a ship and take it through dangerous waters gets my blood boiling. I’ve written two of them, Wind Raven (book 3 in the Agents of the Crown series) and now To Tame the Wind. Both have pirates as characters and a noble English sea captain hero. One is a Regency (early 19th century) and one is Georgian (late 18th century). I love both periods in history but there’s something about a man with hair tied back at his nape like they wore it in the 18th century that attracts, I must say.

MBA&M: Why do you, as a writer, enjoy writing Historical Romance?

I love diving into the past and creating a world my readers can love. I vow to sweep them away for history, adventure and love. I do hundreds of hours of research for each book so that I can include real history and real historic figures. The historical romance writers of the past that I admire most did this, adding great depth to their stories. That is my goal, too.

MBA&M: How do you unwind or relax after a long day of writing and social networking?

Dinner in front of the TV with a period series like Viking, Outlander, Turn or Game of Thrones. Then I read until bedtime. I love to read. On the weekend I might unwind with friends. I love to dine out.

MBA&M: What is your favorite genre to read for pleasure?

Historical romance, of course! You might be surprised to know that I read my first romance in 2009 and now am a top reviewer on Amazon with 800 reviews—all romance and almost all historical.

MBA&M: One last question, when can readers expect to see the next in the “Medieval Warriors” series?

I’m writing it now…book 2, Rogue Knight. It follows The Red Wolf’s Prize and it’s set in England three years after the Norman Conquest. It tells the story of a young widow, Emma of York and Sir Geoffroi de Tournai, a Norman knight who will persuade her not all knights are the same.

Thank you, Regan Walker, for visiting with us and our readers today! Although, I read a wide variety of genre, Historical Romance/Fiction will always be my favorite!

TO TAME THE WIND is the prequel to the Agents of the Crown trilogy!

What an exciting Georgian Romance…

 Regan Walker
Bestselling author Regan Walker loved to write stories as a child, particularly those about adventure-loving girls, but by the time she got to college more serious pursuits took priority. One of her professors encouraged her to pursue the profession of law, which she did. BLOG TOUR~ SIN ~ Violetta Rand~ A DEVIL DEN’S NOVEL…*Mature Content, 18+, please*

Devil’s Den # 3
By: Violetta Rand
Releasing May 12, 2015

Sin proves that passion goes beyond smoldering desire when hearts dance to their own special beat.

Every woman at the Devil’s Den strip club has a story to tell, and Macey Taylor is no exception. Smart and self-reliant, she’s got a chip on her shoulder, a broken heart, and no patience for a sexy new manager with an Ivy League pedigree and a strict set of rules. Macey prefers to break rules, something she lets Joshua Camden know from the start—even as he ignites a fire in her that goes beyond the hottest club in town.

Joshua is working the Devil’s Den for all it’s worth, learning everything he can about the adult-entertainment game before investing in a place of his own. Macey is a surprise: a woman as strong-willed as she is gorgeous. Joshua wants to get inside her world, to see through her eyes. But he soon discovers that seduction is a two-way street—and expecting redemption without risking his heart may be the greatest sin of all.

How to Keep Writing After You Lose Interest.

A mentor of mine once told me that unless you will love writing your book throughout the whole writing process then you’re better off to not start at all. At the time I could see both the positive and negative of this. The positive is that if I write something I love, I am more likely to write it well. The negative is that I would never write anything. There comes a point in all my writing over 50 pages, where I just am not as excited as I was at the start. There have even been times I purely hate it, ehem…editing. Twenty years later and not only do I think my mentor was wrong, but what he should have said was, “There will be times you don’t like what you are writing, and when this happens you need to reinvent your interest.” This has been something I’ve had to teach myself over the years. In the last five years I can say I have never run into a project that I have not been able to finish, and maintain interest. So, when you “hate” your book, try one of these simple steps:

• Write different scenes. In my current book Lake Norfork, I had a general idea of the plot. In my head I had a mess of scenes I thought were great, but no glue holding them together. Not knowing where to start I simply began writing the scenes without worry of how to link them. Once I had about ten scenes written, it became more of a fun game to link them together. This not only kept the book fresh for me, but almost felt as if I were writing several short stories, which kept the story fresh and fun to write.
• Change perspective completely. In my book The Treasure at Devil’s Hole, I knew I wanted to write a story about a boy digging a well with dynamite. I wrote the scene several times, but wasn’t happy with it, and eventually became frustrated. It was when I decided to change the perspective of the story to another character and have the well digging in the background that the story became fun. Not only did the story I want stay in the book, and last the entire duration, but I was able to open up what I had set as a limitation. The story became a treasure hunt instead of a lesson on how not to dig a well.
• Stop mid-sentence. This is a technique I use with all my writing now. I either set a time or word count. When the time expires, or I hit 2000 words, I stop. Whether I am mid-sentence or not, it doesn’t matter. I prefer when I don’t complete a sentence because it strikes a chord in me throughout the rest of the day. I want to finish the sentence. Life doesn’t seem right unless I do. This prompts me to think about that sentence and everything else I wrote that day. By the time I get back to writing I know exactly what I want and I never think about putting the book away for good.

Losing interest in work is something all writers face at one time or another. Finding new techniques to keep your writing fresh and fun is essential to growing as a writer and completing that book you’ve had in your desk drawer for months.

Thank you, for stopping by today!

Title: The Treasure at Devil’s Hole
Author: Jody Mabry
Publisher: Maybury and Gilliam Literary
Pages: 220
Genre: Middle Grade Children’s
Format: Paperback/Kindle

How would you feel if you knew you had a legendary treasure right in your own back yard? Francis “Bug” Mosser knows, and will do nearly anything to find it, even if it means defying the most villainous person he knows—Mom!

Standing in Bug’s way is his nemesis Tad Pricket, the red headed, pock-holed bully who’s suddenly been seen walking Bug’s girl, Melanie, home from school—worse, the walk ends with a kiss. Then there is the mysterious bald stranger and Miss Julia Brandon’s boyfriend who seems a little “too-classy” for the town of Possum Trot.

With the help of his brothers, and best friend Billy—along with his not-so-secret desire to impress Melanie Grainger—Bug goes off in search of fortune and glory, thwarting bad guys, stolen clothes, and explosions to find the one surprise about the treasure that he would have never dreamed of…

“Jody M. Mabry’s “The Treasure at Devil’s Hole” is a refreshing return to classic adventure, a genuine stand-out among modern YA fare. It calls to mind works such as “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” right down to the requisite treasure hunting, villains, expansive caverns, complicated young love, and rule-breaking exploits intelligent, free-spirited boys simply can’t resist. Well written and wonderfully paced, it keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, with a clever resolution you never saw coming. I found this to be a delightful read, and in fact completed the book in one sitting, unable to put it down. Looking forward to Mabry’s next work, I hope one is in the works.” – Amazon reviewer
