About the book:
Self-driving vehicles finally arrive. But so do the terrorists.
A thought-provoking thriller about artificial intelligence and the self-driving revolution.
You’ll be forced to consider how you’d react if you were cornered
and trapped in a terrifying life-threatening situation.
Fed up with slogging through the treacherous LA traffic to get to work, Jake Bendel and a cunning team of experts create a roadway system for self-driving cars — preventing thousands of traffic deaths and reducing commute times from hours to minutes.
For three months, no traffic congestion. No accidents. No fatalities. People finally feel safe in their cars. But should they?
Especially when the dark side of humanity sees this as a chance to destroy the United States.
A Syrian terrorist group weaponizes the system and devises a scheme to kill more Americans in one day than the 407,000 + U.S. soldiers killed in World War II.
Viktor, a tormented psychopath and the mastermind behind this ruthless attack, is driven by the voices of his dead mother and Allah …who guide his every move.
While he and his brothers mercilessly annihilate Americans in the name of the Jihad, Viktor plants evidence that convinces the public Jake is the architect behind the most heinous terrorist attack in U.S. history.
But one rogue FBI agent believes Jake is innocent. Together they unearth a mole deep inside the FBI, go off the grid, and hash through a trail of hidden clues to stop Viktor from slaughtering millions of unsuspecting American drivers in a matter of minutes.
The clock is ticking. Can they stop him in time to prevent another savage bloodbath?
Civil Terror: Gridlock will grab you by the throat and pull you into a vicious struggle that will define the fate of the world for generations to come.

She cannot resist the man behind the mask…
As the illegitimate daughter of a Scottish earl, Lady Magdalen Keith is not one to partake in lavish balls or other frivolities. Yet at her father’s urging, she agrees to dance with the battle-weary officers at this year’s holiday masquerade. It’s practically her civic duty! But when one such officer—whose dashing good looks cannot be disguised by a mere mask—sweeps her off her feet and into his arms, the innocent lass can’t help herself. Her lips are his for the taking.
But will he betray his country for a kiss?
Navy lieutenant Aiden Murray has spent too many months at sea to be immune to the charms of this lovely beauty. Even after he returns to his ship, she lives in his dreams. My thoughts:
The Highland Commander by Amy Jarecki is a fantastic Medieval Scottish Romance. #2 in the highly anticipated series, “Lords of the Highlands”, but it can be read as a stand alone.
Fast paced with a most enjoyable cast of characters. Lady Magdalen Keith, an illegitimate daughter of a Scottish earl and Navy lieutenant Aiden Murray are the stars of this most intriguing story of treason, passion, adventure, intrigues and romance. Can Magdalen and Aiden save her father from the gallows, as their love blossoms?
Once again, Ms. Jarecki has created a story readers can relate to, and love in fall with, as they transverse the terrain of politics, love and treason. Another absolute heart pounding tale by the fabulous Amy Jarecki! I can’t wait for the “Highland Guardian”. Ms. Jarecki is a master Medieval Scottish romance! She brings the characters to life on the pages of another great read! Her vitualizations, and her details brings the Highlands to life for readers. An absolute must read for fans of Highland Romance, brawn Highlanders and the feisty lasses who tame their hearts. Another WOW story!!

Dead men don’t tell tales. They wail them from the top of the tallest tower.
Darke of Night, Book 2
Lady Guinevere (Guin) Harvey would much rather be writing gothic tales of intrigue and adventure than dancing attendance on her sister, the newly married Duchess of Silberwald. Until they arrive at Silberwald Castle, a place of enchanting perfection—and gothic shadows.
Ghostly groans and clanking chains lead Guin through ancient, misshapen passages to one of the castle’s many mysteries: a cell where the odd but charming Kasimir is kept chained like an animal. He could be a figment of her vivid dreams, the ghost of a dead, mad prince, or just a political prisoner no one wants to talk about.
Desperate to discover what beast is howling such soul-chilling cries, Guin summons the medium Barbara Darke. But by the time Barbara arrives, Guin can no longer distinguish dream from reality, friend from enemy. Even with all Barbara’s unique talents, they have to face new dangers before they finally discover the terrifying truth of Silberwald Castle.

Meet the author: JULIA BRANNAN
Julia has been a voracious reader since childhood, using books to escape the miseries of a turbulent adolescence. After leaving university with a degree in English Language and Literature, she spent her twenties trying to be a sensible and responsible person, even going so far as to work for the Civil Service. The book escape came in very useful there too.
And then she gave up trying to conform and resolved to spend the rest of her life living as she wanted to, not as others would like her to. She has since had a variety of jobs, including telesales, teaching and gilding and is currently a transcriber, copy editor and proofreader. In her spare time she is still a voracious reader, and enjoys keeping fit and travelling the world. Life hasn’t always been good, but it has rarely been boring. She lives in rural Wales with her cat Constantine, and her wonderful partner sensibly lives four miles away in the next village.
Now she has decided that rather than just escape into other people’s books, she would actually quite like to create some of her own, in the hopes that people will enjoy reading them as much as she does writing them.

MY THOUGHTS:
MASK OF DUPLICITY by Julia Brannan is an exciting new Scottish Historical Romance set during the 1740’s. Book 1 in this new and fantastic series of “The Jacobite Chronicles” and what a beginning.
“The first in the series about the fascinating lives of beautiful Beth Cunningham, her family and friends during the tempestuous days leading up to the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, which attempted to overthrow the Hanoverian King George II and restore the Stuarts to the British throne.”
Meet Beth Cunningham, her brother Richard, Sir Anthony Peters, and a wonderful, albeit, treasonous cast of characters, where some have a mask of duplicity.
Fast paced, tale that is well written, with passion, action, fights, sensual tension, duplicity, treason, and finding a HEA for Beth. A must read for Historical Romance fans who enjoy action, adventure, and yes, treason. The Jacobite Rebellion pitted brother against brother, committed many treasonous acts all in the name of restoring the Stuarts to the British throne.
The cast of characters is long, but a necessity to help carry the story forward. The reader is easily caught up in the story, the lives of the characters and the depth of the story.
Ms. Brannan is a new author to me, but I look forward to reading more of her “Jacobite Chronicles”. While, “Mask of Duplicity” had a satisfying conclusion, I would say it is a continuing tale, as many questions are left unanswered. Not necessarily a cliffhanger, but a continuing storyline, I look forward to finding out Beth’s fiance’s true identity and issues this will cause between her and others.
Well researched. I would strongly recommend “Mask of Duplicity” to fans of Scottish Historical, The Jacobite Rebellion and uprising, Historical Romance fans, and fans of Scottish-British history. A fascinating story with a long cast of characters who will capture your interest and hold your attention. A true treasure! An enjoyable and satisfying read and one I would strongly recommend.

AMANDA FORRESTER
{A WINTER WEDDING}
WELCOME, AMANDA!!
MBA&M: Please tell our readers a bit about yourself?
I have a PhD in psychology and worked many years in academia before discovering that writing historical romance was way more fun. Whether in the rugged Highlands of medieval Scotland or the decadent ballrooms of Regency England, I enjoy stories that are fast-paced adventures, filled with wit, intrigue, and romance. When I’m not writing, I enjoy camping, scrapbooking, eating chocolate, and flying on zip-lines (ok, I did it once but I thought I needed to sound more exciting).
MBA&M: What is the allure of historical romance with intrigue, wit and romance?
I enjoy writing the types of books I would like to read. Don’t you love books that make you laugh, give you an adventure, and make you fall in love? I do! In A Winter Wedding, Miss Penelope Rose, the notorious Madame X, exclusive matchmaker to London’s elite, has made a modest fortune creating love matches for everyone but herself. Her toughest client yet, the Duke of Marchford, has commissioned her to find him a bride, but he is more interested in tracking down a spy than in interviewing potential mates. Marchford is willing to do anything to find that spy, including announcing an impromptu engagement to force Penelope to stay close and help him catch the traitor. When Penelope refuses to play along, Marchford takes to wooing her to stay, including embracing that most perilous of holidays–Christmas! As Penelope and Marchford work together to uncover a deadly plot, they find falling in love is the most dangerous adventure of all.
MBA&M: What is next for you as a writer?
My next release, The Highlander’s Bride, will travel back to the 14th Century to check in on Sir Gavin, who was left behind in France in my last Scottish medieval novel (True Highland Spirit). Sir Gavin has agreed to escort the beautiful Lady Marie Colette to meet her affianced husband in Scotland. Needless to say, things don’t quite go according to plan.
Back in the Regency, in A Winter Wedding there was one lady for whom Penelope could not make a match. Lady Kate was a hardened case, so naturally I had to take her on myself and I am currently writing her tale. She has been giving me trouble and protesting quite a bit, but I have a few surprises for her. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll be forced to trap her into marriage. It’s for her own good!
MBA&M: What inspired you to write about England, traitors, matchmaking and romance?
The months leading up to the passage of the Regency Act in 1811, which officially gave the Prince of Wales the control of the government in lieu of his ailing father, King George, were quite tumultuous. The King was clearly no longer able to rule but even to discuss this matter might be seen as treasonous. The war with France raged on, and Napoleon was looking supremely confident in his march across Europe. Nothing makes a better backdrop for romance than a little adventure and international intrigue!
MBA&M: Why write a romance during this era?
Ever since I read Pride and Prejudice in junior high I have loved the Regency time period. It is a wonderful time in history with great political turmoil, high manners and societal rules, and a great wardrobe! I would love to sweep across a ballroom floor in a sumptuous Regency gown! If I had a time machine, I would definitely travel to the Regency and enjoy learning how they really lived.
Reader Question: If you had a time machine, where would you go?

This adventurous duke…
The Duke of Marchford requires a suitable bride, but catching spies for the Foreign Office takes up most of his time. Not wanting to face another London season as an eligible man, he employs the notorious Madame X to find him a match.
Has met his match
Miss Penelope Rose knows the rules of marriage among members of the ton better than most. Her own unsuccessful attempts at matrimony did not stop her from becoming London’s most exclusive matchmaker. Marchford proves to be a difficult client, but as he draws on her social expertise to help him flush out a dangerous traitor, they find that falling in love may be the riskiest adventure of all.

A WINTER WEDDING by Amanda Forrester is an intriguing Regency Historical Romance set in 1810. # 3 in the “Marriage Mart” series, but can be read as a stand alone. Filled with adventure, romance, traitors, matchmaking, spies and passion.
An arrogant Duke and a gutsy companion found more than they bargain for, in “A Winter Wedding”, but not more than they can handle, including a bit of fun. I enjoyed this series. While, it is faith based, it is not “preachy”, but filled with energy, romance, and yes, passion.
Another light-hearted, witty, delicious romp through England, with a spy or two, twists and turns, any reader is sure to delight in reading.
What a delightful series, this has been. I look forward to the next grand adventure. It was great to see how Penelope Rose and James Lockton, the Duke of Marchford story comes together and ends. A must read!

Welcome, Emily!!
We would like to know…
What is the allure of contemporary fiction for Middle Grade readers?
I believe that the biggest draw for readers of contemporary MG fiction is relatability. Now, before the historical and fantasy writers throw their keyboard at me, let me preface that! Every novel has elements we can relate to, whether through characters or setting. That’s why we read these books. An MG novel that takes place in 16th century Scotland may have a main character who reminds us of our 21st-century best friend. Or a parent from a high fantasy trilogy might remind us of our own parent’s discipline strategy (even if that fictional parent happens to be a dragon robot with two heads)!
In contemporary middle grade, however, the books often read like they could have been written yesterday. There are often references to pop culture. certain clothing styles. and the language of today’s tweens. These stories feel like they could have been written about the same people in your school. I think there’s a fascination in feeling like these stories are about you or people you know. Its like looking inside the window of an exclusive party or overhearing a conversation in the bathroom. If the main character is relatable to you, then its almost like you’re on the adventure too. Bonus: you’re able to hear little nuggets of fun dialogue and experience the risks and rewards that go along with a great plot. You may not hang out with the middle school soccer team in real life, but it’s fun to imagine what their conversations might sound like in a book where the main character is the star of the soccer team. Books taking you to worlds you never imagined isn’t just for fantasy, and I think that young readers enjoy the everyday escapes to other parts of likfe just as much as they would traveling to worlds beyond Earth.
Just like a healthy meal should include a balance of vegetables, protein, and Brie cheese (kidding on that last one…sort of). I would suggest that the balanced bookshelf of a young reader should include the three whats: Even if an MG reader gravitates toward one category, I would definitely recommend trying these and many other styles even for those readers who prefer contemporary fiction.
● What happened? Remember that 16th century Scotland book I mentioned above? Our young readers don’t always relate to history through textbooks. It’s often beautifully written historical fiction that captures the spirit of history and packages it up beautifully to make it relevant to the modern day.
● What now? This is contemporary fiction, and it feels like it’s happening right this very minute!
● What if? It’s not always satisfying enough to think only about what’s happening in the past and what’s happening now. What is happening in the future? If the world was taken over by dragon robots, should dragons be ALLOWED to drive school buses? These are the kinds of thought-provoking questions that allow us to examine our world in a very different way.
I like to add elements of many types of fiction to my books. It’s fun, for example, to bring in bits of history. My book LIBERTY BELLE is set in Washington DC, a city rich in history. So it’s fun to pull in little tidbits here and there. And the elements that make a book great are often similar. That said, I love writing middle grade contemporary and I hope to write many more contemporary books (perhaps even a sequel to LIBERTY BELLE) in the years to come.
Oh my, what an interesting story! Thanks, Emily, for stopping by today and spending time with our readers!

MY THOUGHTS:
Rowena and the Viking Warlord by Melodie Campbell is an interesting Paranormal Romance Time Travel. Book 3 in the Land’s End series. See, “Rowena Through the Wall” and “Rowena and the Dark Lord”. While, I would suggest reading the other two in this Trilogy, it can be read as a stand alone.
In this one Rowena, is more mature, as is the other characters, Lars, Cedric, Kendra, Gareth and Thane. Rowena finds herself in more trouble. In this one we have more twists and turns, more funny bits, the sexy parts are sexier than in the previous stories, with serious bits too. It is a well written tale of time travel, romance, and adventure with great character and world building. A sexy, funny romp through time! An enjoyable read! Received for an honest review.
