THIS HIGHLAND LAIRD WON’T BOW TO THE CROWN

Laird Ruairi Sutherland refuses to send his only son away to be educated by the English. And he most definitely will not appear in Edinburgh to pay homage to a liege who has no respect for Scotland or its people. So he does what any laird would do―he lies to the king. The last thing Ruairi expects is a beautiful English governess to appear on his doorstep.

BUT THIS LADY SPY MIGHT MAKE HIM…

Lady Ravenna Walsingham is a seasoned spy who is sent to the savage Highlands to uncover a nefarious plot against the Crown. Playing the part of an English governess―a job easier said than done―she infiltrates the home of Laird Ruairi Sutherland, a suspected conspirator.

IF SHE DOESN’T BETRAY HIM FIRST

Ravenna soon discovers that the only real threat Sutherland poses is to her heart. But will the proud Highland laird ever forgive her when he discovers the woman he loves is an English spy?

HISTORICAL ROMANCE AUTHOR REBECCA SINCLAR,GIVEAWAY AND VISIT…

IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO WELCOME REBECCA SINCLAIR TO MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE TODAY!!

PRESENTS…..

Rebecca Sinclair ~ www.rebeccasinclair.com

Historical Romance Author

WELCOME REBECCA!!

Good morning Rebecca and welcome to My Book Addiction and More….

G’morning, and thank you for having me here at My Book Addiction and More…. I’m so excited to be here!  I do hope you realize when I say “morning” I really mean it. According to my clock it’s, let’s see, 12:28am, and I’ve just gotten up to get some work done. Of course, by the time I finish writing all this up it will be much later…however, knowing me, it’ll probably still be “morning!” As in the sun has not yet come up and there’s still so much to do!  🙂

MBA&M: Please give our readers a few tidbits about Rebecca Sinclair?

REBECCA: Okay. Here’s something few people know about me: When I first started writing all those many years ago, I was considered prolific. I mean, I wrote long historical romances to the tune of two books per year, if not more! These days I’m a more careful, thoughtful writer—and by that I don’t necessarily mean slow. I prefer to take my time and really savor both the research and the writing stages of putting a book together. I’m no longer in a rush to “pump books out”, nor do I have anyone, shall we say “encouraging” me to do so. Instead, I feel have earned the luxury of writing at my own pace, finally, and I’m absolutely loving it!

MBA&M: What do you think the appeal of romance is to readers?

REBECCA: Hmmm…. You mean aside from a hero to-die-for in both mind and body? And a heroine who epitomizes all the qualities we only wish we had? As well as settings of exotic locales that make us as a reader forget, even for just a minute, that dirty diapers need to be changed, or business files need to be transcribed, or dissertations to be ordered from some custom dissertation writing service I used to work for myself a while ago? Then, of course, while there’s a guaranteed HEA, there’s no guarantee of how it’s arrived at…which brings into play all kinds of hair-raising, spine-tingling, toe-curling adventures. Mix in a delicious dose of intimacy, spiced-to-taste, and several unexpected bumps in the always-complicated relationship road, and you’ve got—  <ahem!> I’m sorry, maybe I didn’t understand the question. You see, from my point of view, what isn’t appealing about a good romance?

MBA&M: Which do you enjoy writing more Contemporary, Medieval, Time-Travel or Young Adult?

REBECCA: Whichever I’m writing at the moment. I make it a practice to fall in love with my w-i-p and the characters in it. While I’m working on it, the current project is always my favorite.

MBA&M: We see you are coming off of a ten year sabbatical, how hard was it to get back into writing and how do you see things are changing?

REBECCA: It wasn’t hard to go back to writing. That came as natural as breathing. Going back to publishing, OTOH, was something else again. From what I can see, I think it’s safe to say everything has changed. EBooks, which had just scratched the surface back then, are exploding and finding an ever-growing audience ten years later. Social media now works as its own branch of the marketing arm. And Amazon publishes its own books! New York publishers require manuscripts to be sent digitally, and many agents even prefer to be queried that way. Acceptances/rejections are virtually instantaneous. There are whole communities available to writers today—from casual to uber-professional—that can be taken advantage of without getting out of your Pj’s, any hour of the day/night.

These are things I only dreamt of when I started networking on my computer back in the 80s. You know, back when there wasn’t a Web that most people today would recognize, when no one had heard of Amazon because they hadn’t started selling books yet, and Google was still a thing of the future. I’m told dinosaurs were also roaming the earth then, but I couldn’t tell you; I was too busy writing to notice (Oh, and playing around online—yes, there was an “online”, even then, if you knew how to find it!)

It looks like once the cyber world took over; everything started changing at an astonishing rate publishing included. I can’t see it slowing down any time soon. Just the opposite, I see it speeding up.

MBA&M:Out of all of your books which is your favorite and why?

REBECCA: My next one. Because it’s going to be oh, so much better than all the ones that came before it. (Like every writer, this is my mantra every time I start a new book. ha-ha!)

MBA&M: When you do a series do you have each book in mind before you start writing or as you go?

I think I’m the only writer these days who doesn’t do series. Lol! While a couple of characters in my early books are related, I don’t even do cross-overs. All my books are stand alones.

MBA&M: Where do your ideas come from?

Urg! I was afraid you’d ask that. To be honest, I have a devil of a time coming up with ideas. I mean, I really, really struggle. The process can take weeks, months, sometimes longer!  While I can look tell you where I got the idea for each of my published books (the sources are wild and varied) I can’t tell you where I’ll even begin to look for my next idea. Sometimes a fact in a history book fascinates me and I’ll start digging, wanting to know more. Sometimes a tidbit in a documentary on TV catches my eye and gets me off and running. But many, many more times I get the basic kernel of an idea from something I’ve misread or misheard or in some insane way that is intrinsically my own, completely and totally misunderstood.

MBA&M: Please tell our readers where to find you and where your books are available?

Sure. I try to keep my website updated (http://www.rebeccasinclair.com). Tip: make sure to always check all the way down to the bottom of the page! 😉  Also, I’m slowly reprinting my old books in digital format through “ePublishing Works!” who, together with Kim Killion on cover designs, are doing an amazing job. The books can be found at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo…just about anywhere eBooks are sold.

Rebecca, is there anything you would like to add?

Yes! I’m not sure how long it will last (I don’t have any say in pricing), but for right now California Caress is on sale for $2.99 at Amazon. For anyone who has wanted to try one of my books, this is an excellent chance to do so at almost half price.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit with us and our readers today at My Book Addiction and More!!

Hey, it was my pleasure. I had a great time. Thank you so much for having me!  I hope you noticed that I tried to keep my answers short and to-the-point, however if there’s one thing I’ve always excelled at, it’s going over word count!  🙂

Sorry for getting you up so early!! Please visit with us again soon, we enjoyed our time with you today!!

FEATURE WITH BARBARA GASKELL DENVIL,MEDIEVAL ROMANCE AUTHOR….

MY BOOK ADDICTION AND MORE FEATURES ONE MEDIEVAL ROMANCE AUTHOR AND TWO GREAT MEDIEVAL STORIES….

BARBARA GASKELL DENVIL!

(From the author’s website)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR….

Author of medieval romance and mystery novels..

Born in England, I grew up amongst artists and authors and started writing at a young age. I published numerous short stories and articles, and worked as an editor, book critic and reader for publishers and television companies. My first marriage produced my three lovely daughters but ended with the death of my husband.
Many adventures later, I met an Italian, fell in love, and spent 16 glorious years with him exploring Europe and sailing the Mediterranean. When he died I needed a place of solace, came to live in rural Australia, and began writing full length novels for the first time. My solace has now become my passion.
With a delight in medieval history dating back to my youth, I now began to research the wicked King Richard III, but quickly discovered the fascination of looking past Tudor propaganda to discover the real man. I now write principally on this era, setting my fiction in 15th century England.
I also write fantasy, though this tends to be dark and adult, not fitting the mould of those fantasy genres popular today. No elves, fairies, vampires or evil wizards attempting to overthrow the empire.

Of course writing tends to be a solitary business, so it will be sheer pleasure to gain contact with other book lovers and everyone else online.

FAIR WEATHER BY BARBARA GASKELL DENVIL
The girl is frightened. Molly cannot see the man, but his voice, barely more than a whisper, seems sinister.
Ever since childhood, Molly has been haunted. The place of her involuntary visions is dark and its people are troubled by hunger and poverty. This is the distant past – England of a thousand years ago, medieval shadows during the reign of King John.
But it is murder within her own modern life which changes everything. Molly is drawn into the police investigation, and pulled between past and present, each now as disturbing as the other, she becomes confused. Her personality splits.
Then an identical murder in the distant haunted past of her dreams joins the two worlds in equal danger. Molly passes between. Now she travels time but is followed by some horror which kills and mutilates at will. She has opened the door to evil and the man, his voice the rustle of dead leaves, is always there. Yet Molly discovers far more than fear and misery. She discovers a whole new life, and a love she could never have imagined. Now she no longer wants to return – but she must.

SATIN CINNABAR
BARBARA GASKELL DENVIL

Publisher:BookBaby; 1 edition (October 16, 2011)

Language:English

ASIN: B0063MVZGC

Product Description(from Amazon)

Set in 1485 against the aftermath of the Battle of Bosworth when the first Tudor King Henry VII took the throne from Richard III, Satin Cinnabar is both an off-beat historical romance and a straight forward murder-mystery-adventure. These plots and sub-plots interweave, held together by the strong atmospheric medieval backgrounds and the depth of characterization.
On his escape from the abandoned battlefield, Alex, younger son of a slain lord, throws off his armour which would mark him as a knight of the vanquished Yorkists. The Lady Katherine, having heard tales of marauding soldiers both vanquished and victorious, is dressed for greater safety as a boy. She and Alex, both in disguise, meet in unusual circumstances.
Now the conquered lords once loyal to King Richard are in danger of losing their titles, their property and their heads, by order of the emergent Tudor monarch attempting to forge new loyalties for himself. Law and order seem under threat so Alex quickly goes into hiding. He takes refuge in the kitchens of old friends, remains incognito, and impersonates a servant. It is during his unorthodox sojourn in the kitchens that Alex encounters Katherine once again. Given in an arranged marriage, the lady is now reluctantly wedded to the new lord of the house, recently knighted by the king. Alex and Katherine come face to face for the second time and begin a most unorthodox courtship.
But Alex’s cousin, newly pardoned and released from the Tower, is discovered murdered. The particular circumstances of his death put Alex under considerable suspicion, especially when Katherine’s bridegroom also dies suddenly, albeit of natural causes. The parish priest believes Alex guilty of double murder, and is persistent. He gives evidence against Alex, leading to his arrest and incarceration in Newgate prison – a veritable hell during that period. Discovering the true murderer, overcoming his enemies, and convincing Katherine that marriage with the right person might actually be an excellent prospect after all, involves Alex for the rest of the book.
The consequent adventures take place against a background of reeking bustle, the confusion of medieval London’s prosperous growth, back alleys, the horrors of Newgate Prison, the sewerage ridden river, the quarrelsome and diverse population, and all the inevitable power struggle, politics and turmoil accompanying the very beginning of the new Tudor dynasty.
