I’m Rick Chamberland, pop-star, rock-star, internationally known, Southern-bred. I sing, I write, I produce and I’m delving into acting. I want to be a triple force. I’ve got a few projects in the works, so watch out for me on the silver screen.
MBA&M: Tell us how you and Song Peters met and what was your attraction to her?
I met at this hole in the wall club off the interstate. Monroe’s, is the name of it, I think. I needed to use a land-line because my cell had no reception. She was outside of the club, standing and looking up at the sky and shivering. She looked cold. And scared. She is beautiful, you know. It was dark at first. Her silhouette… But inside the club, you know, after she showed me the phone, I watched her sing. I felt something in her voice hit me right here, in my chest. Her talent attracted me, as well as her looks. The whole package. She is the whole package.
MBA&M: Was your attraction instantly with sparks flying and lightening strikes, or was it a slow burn?
Definitely a slow burn. I thought I’d never see her again after that night. I mean I was in town for a few days. I didn’t plan to pursue her, but things happened. It was as if the stars aligned and like we were meant to be together.
MBA&M: How did you handle the discovery of your family’s legacy?
Truthfully I’m still not at terms with what I’ve learned. I wish I had my father here to talk to, you know. Hopefully that will change. Hopefully I can learn more as time goes on. It’s hard, but I’m dealing.
MBA&M: What do you wish readers to understand about your legacy, your family secrets, and your music?
First of all, know that I had nothing to do with any of it. I was the innocent in all of this. I was used. But now that I know… It’s hard to get readers to understand because so much of it is unbelievable. There’s a lot they don’t know because there’s still holes I’m trying to fill in my past, you know? My music helps. I’m writing songs. As tragic as this past year has been I’ve been able to channel some of the frustration into my work. I hope to reach some kind of peace soon.
